Nigeria is just a win away from qualification for the 2018 World Cup.

In their last qualifying game, the Super Eagles were held to a 1-1 draw in Yaounde by Cameroon.

Gernot Rohr’s men failed to convert a couple of chances to make it 2-0, before Ikechukwu Ezenwa brought down a Cameroonian player in the box. Vincent Aboubacar stepped up and levelled from the spot.

The result ensured Nigeria remain top of Group B with 10 points. Zambia are second with seven points, while Cameroon have three and are surely out of the running.

Zambia can only get six more points. Even if they achieve that feat and the Eagles lose their two remaining fixtures, the Chipolopolo would need to match Nigeria’s superior goals difference.

The Eagles, however, have their destiny in their hands, as they host Zambia this Saturday.

They could clinch one of Africa’s five tickets, before the last round of fixtures, when they travel to Algeria.
