Ahead of this afternoon's kick-off, club historian Rick Glanvill and club statistician Paul Dutton recall some of our past encounters with the Foxes...
Chelsea have dominated recent encounters with Leicester, winning 12 of the past 14 meetings between the two teams in all competitions.

Last season the Foxes’ visit came in October 2016, a difficult time for Claudio Ranieri’s side, but a fortnight into the title-winning 13-game winning streak for the Blues. Leicester’s previous visit had started with a Guard of Honour for the newly-crowned champions, but this time there was no such graciousness from the hosts.

Pressure in the opening few minutes culminated in Eden Hazard drilling a corner that Nemanja Matic flicked to Diego Costa. The striker, who had the better of Robert Huth and Wes Morgan all afternoon, side-footed into the net off Kasper Schmiechel.

With Hazard enjoying himself on the ball and former Fox N’Golo Kante running midfield, a second seemed inevitable. Huth and team-mate Luis Hernandez made a mess of a ball down the middle and Pedro, lying on the ground, still had the wherewithal to play Hazard in. The Belgian impishly rounded Schmeichel and tapped the ball home.

Before the break David Luiz’s free-kick beat the Leicester goalie but not the post, and soon after it Kante broke at pace and sent Victor Moses free, but the wing-back’s early shot was saved.

Morgan later blocked a Kante shot on the line, but a third and final goal came 10 minutes from time. Moses broke purposefully and slipped a pass inside to substitute Nathaniel Chalobah, whose brilliant, deceptive back-heel allowed the Nigeria international to drive a shot under Schmeichel.

Leicester last won at Stamford Bridge in September 2000 in the Premier League. Carlo Cudicini was in goal for Chelsea and John Terry was an unused substitute. The Foxes achieved the double against us that season by winning 2-1 at Filbert Street in the February.

That was the East Midlands club’s only league win at Stamford Bridge in 26 attempts since October 1965.
