Chelsea progressed to the next round of the FA cup with a comfortable 3-0 Victory of the Magpies with MichyBatshauyi brace and Marcos Alonso scoring from a set piece to ease pressure off Antonio Conte with intense speculation surrounding the future of the under-fire Chelsea boss after the Carabao cup exit. The Chelsea manager was tensed and virtually not joyful throughout the game as he watched from the dugout as his side produced a response to silent critics after a torrid week.

Antonio Conte made four changes to his team that lost in the midweek to Arsenal at the Carabao Cup, though most Nigerians placed their bet that Chelsea will win at Betway sports bettingshops. Batshuayi, Zappercosta, Drinkwater and Rudiger replacing Willian, Moses, Bakayoko and Azpilicueta respectively. The game kickoff in a dull mood with both sides failing to dominate. Chelsea got an injury scare early on in the game as Zappercosta limped off but the wingback was able to shrug it off and play on. The first real attempt of the game was made by the visiting team asJonjoShelvy who was already having a fine game prior.JonjoShelvy’s low volley was saved Willy Caballero.

Chelsea continued to improve with Hazard causing problems for the away side at the middle of the park and could have taken the lead after Rudiger’s left footed striker missed the left target by an inch. The home team finally took the lead after 31 minutes with MichyBatshauyi scoring the goal after brilliant buildup from Hazard, Pedro and Alonso. Pedro released Hazard on a counter attack after winning possession from Newcastle, Hazard set the ball for an incoming Marcos Alonso to have an attempt on goal. With Newcastle goalkeeper charging at him, the Spaniard decided to pass the ball to MichyBatshauyi who was at the right space and time to tap into an empty net. Chelsea continued to improve after the goal and went 2 goals up after 13 minutes thanks to Belgian who was beginning to enjoy his afternoon. Pedro released Eden Hazard who bearing at goal decided to release Batshauyi on the run and the Chelsea Centre forward converted thanks to a deflected shot to extend the blues lead by two before the First interval. The magpies almost pulled one back before the break but Caballero’s save ensured that Chelsea maintained their clean sheet after saving both Shelvy and Mbemba attempts. Marcos Alonso wrapped off a perfect afternoon with the third goal via set piece as the Spanish footballer continues to establish himself as a free kick specialist. Ross Barkley was handed an FA cup debut while Ampadu and Hudson-Odoi were given opportunities to impress. MichyBatshauyi almost grabbed a hatrick but was denied twice by Darlow late on in the game.

Conte in his post-match conference praised his players for their display today. He also praised MichyBatshauyi though admitted that Chelsea will still go for another striker before the closer of the transfer. He also advocated for consistency and seriousness among the players as they team approaches the decisive month of February.
