Femi Ogedengbe has clapped back at those who had unkind things to say about him. In case you missed how it all started: news started swirling recently that the former actor now works as a security guard in the United States. Ogedengbe took to his social media to confirm the stories. He explained why he relocated to the States, how the odds were stacked against him in the movie industry.
“I saw myself as one of the very great actors in Nollywood. In 2005, I discovered that the Nollywood industry, where I belong, was becoming more and more a tribalistic industry because a few financiers who were throwing in money for productions dictated who appear in the movies,” he said.
He went on to add, “So, more and more, we discovered that those of us, talking about Emeka and others, we were not getting the jobs we should get based on merit, I had to move over to the Yoruba genre and even at that, I discovered that the Yoruba genre was more like a help- me-I-help you outfit that couldn’t pay my bills, I just couldn’t cope.”
In the United States, he trained as a security personell, and he takes pride in his profession. However, folks on social media had a lot to say about the development; while some ridiculed him, others stood up for him.
And it is why the former actor has now published a YouTube video, addressing all those who threw shots his way.
“Oh yes! I am now a security guard in the USA and so what?” he fired back at the trolls, adding, “Well, I have only been doing this for a little more than one year now and I can boldly say without any shame that, what I have achieved in my father’s land being an actor/director/producer for over twenty something years is no where compared to being a “Maiguard” for just a year in this blessed foreign land.”
Ogedengbe said a lot more, dismissed Nigeria as a shit hole country, noted how the politicians are running the country down, and explained why the country’s best hands are relocating abroad.
He also encouraged Nigerians to vote in better leaders, if they ever wish to salvage what’s left of the country. He held nothing back!
