A 32-year-old young man identified as Michelet Mongerard, has been found unconscious at the bottom of a swimming pool during his 32nd birthday party Greenfield Road in Glenbrook on Sunday.
According to a report, the man who tragically drowned at his own birthday party over the weekend was pulled from the pool by his cousin just after 7pm.
It was gathered that the victim's cousin was able to resuscitate Mongerard after performing CPR before medics rushed him to the Stamford Hospital, but he died at the hospital a short while later.
Police authorities believe the man's death was accidental because the 20 to 30 family and friends at the party said he could swim and that he didn't appear to be intoxicated.
Police also disclosed that no one saw him go into the swimming pool. But authorities said they discovered a 'minor' abrasion on his head.
It's unclear if Mongerard slipped and hit his head before falling into the pool, and authorities are still investigating. However, officials said the cause of death will likely be ruled as an accidental drowning.
Authorities are waiting on the results of a toxicology report before that determination is made. The report could take up to six weeks or longer.
