As many African parents continue to shun inter-tribal marriages, a young lady whose family is different is currently excited about how welcoming her father was towards her non-Igbo boyfriend.
A Twitter user identified as Max 'Odogwu' M (@MakiSpoke), has taken to the social networking platform to reveal her father's reaction when she told him that she is now dating a Yoruba man. One of the major problems in Nigeria today is tribalism as this usually pose a big problem when people from different tribes fall in love.

However, for this Nigerian lady of Igbo origin, it was a completely different reception she got from her father when she revealed she was dating a Yoruba man.  Rather than the expected frown and disapproval, he made it clear that he would support her as long as the man in question made her happy.

She took to Twitter to share the good news with her followers. Sharing a screenshot of their conversation, she wrote,
Quote
"Finally told my old man about my new man and the fact he's Yoruba and this was his message to me . So happy our parents are becoming more progressive."

When asked if she was worried he wasn't going to support her decision to be with a non-tribe, she had this to say

Were you worried?

Of course. I don't think it would a stretch to say that Igbo people do not like not trust Yoruba people and I've definitely heard one or two unpleasant things said at home so this is really big for both of them to accept him.
The lady also shared how she met her boyfriend, which she revealed was on Facebook. She was working in an area which happened to be in his neighbourhood. He noticed this and slid into her DM to ask her out on a date.

 It started in the DMs.

What I love the most about this approach is how both Twitter and Facebook played a hand in linking me to the most wonderful man ❤️.
