LOBATAN! 70Yrs Old Man Arrested For Allegedly Beating Landlord Over Quit Notice

A 70-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly beating his landlord over issuing him a quit notice.
The 70-year-old businessman, Appinner Obilor was on Thursday arraigned in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos and is being tried for conspiracy and assault.
The prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police Ezekiel Ayorinde told the court that the accused committed the offenses on July 21 at his residence in Oko-Oba, Lagos.
He said that the accused and two others at large conspired to assault his landlord, Mr. Waheed Bello over quit notice. The prosecutor said;
“The accused, who spent over five years in the complainant’s house without paying for the rent, conspired with his wife and son to beat up the landlord.
“The accused and family punched the complainant severally all over his body, tore his clothes and also used a plank to hit him on his head which caused him harm.
“The complainant reported the case and the accused was arrested.”
The offenses contravened Sections 173 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Section 173 prescribes three years jail term for assault while Section 411 attracts two years for conspiracy.
The accused denied committing the offenses and was admitted to a bail of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
The Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi said that the sureties should be gainfully employed and show evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
Further hearing has been fixed for August 15.
