Dike Chukwumerije, a Nigerian writer and poet, has narrowly escaped being hit by a stray bullet in front of his house.
Narrating the incident which took place yesterday, Dike said he was standing beside his car parked in front of his house when something fell from the sky and shattered his windscreen.
He soon discovered it was a spent bullet and narrowly missed hitting him.
He wrote: "Today, my car was struck by a stray bullet. It was parked in front of my house, and I was standing beside it, when something fell out of the sky and punched a hole through the windscreen.
"At first, I thought someone had thrown a stone or something over the fence. But what I found on my bonnet, amidst the shattered glass, was a spent bullet. Is this how it happens?"
