The management of the Nigeria Police Force sacked a cop reportedly obtained over a million Naira from another under false pretences.  Nigeria Police Force of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has dismissed an officer identified as Olusola Jolaosho, for obtaining N1.5m under false pretences.
According to Reporters, the suspect was said to have posed as an auctioneer and obtained the said amount for a Toyota Corolla from an Abuja resident.
A complainant whose identity was concealed has stated that he met Jolaosho at an auction at Life Camp, adding that the cop promised to assist him in getting a suitable car but failed to deliver the vehicle after collecting money from him.

He said, “Sometime in March/April 2016, he (Jolaosho) called to let me know that some vehicles were up for sale. I went to the court to inspect those vehicles but only found one suitable.
“The vehicle which I found suitable was a Toyota Corolla with Registration number RSH 652TA. He told me that he would assist me in processing the vehicle. He subsequently went to the high court in Maitama and obtained the price of the car as N1.2m.
“He asked me to send N100,000 to his account in the name of Jolaosho Olusola with account number 2709247013. This, he said, was to enable him to process the documentation and pay the necessary fees. I sent the N100,000 as he demanded. He later asked for an additional N200,000.”
The complainant further explained that sometime in May, the cop demanded N900,000 which he said was the value of the vehicle.
“In June I called to find out the position of the car, he informed me that he was away for a month because his son was in the hospital and would let me know as soon as he got back.
“I even sent him N10,000 for transportation back to Abuja as he informed me that he was stranded in Lagos.
“Some weeks after he came back, I called him again and he informed me that the paperwork had been completed but the judge who was supposed to sign it was ill and was away from office.
“After much pleas from Shola that I should not get the police involved, he convinced me yet again to pay an additional amount. I only agreed because he was a police officer.
“On the 6th of September, I sent an additional N300,000 to the same account number as previously,”
he stated.
The Head, Public Complaints Rapid Response Unit, Abayomi Shogunle, said the errant policeman had been dismissed after an orderly room trial, adding that the PCRRU received 884 cases of professional misconduct against police personnel across the country between January and June this year.
He said that Gombe, Jigawa, Kebbi, and Yobe recorded zero complaints during the period under review.
