The law on flogging children is a welcome development especially in a country like Nigeria where there has been gross violation of children's rights. While noone is suggesting that kids should not be reprimanded when they are wrong, flogging them as if they are animals is not only inhuman but has the potential of leaving a lasting  psychological scar on them.

The truth is, there are better ways of correcting a child which cannot be equated to brutality. These methods are proven to be effective in achieving the desired results while not presenting the problem of alienation which the former (Flogging) may likely engender  in the future.

My parents never once flogged us, yet we were alway careful not to offend them because there were consequences for bad behaviour and we cherished so much the love which they provided. So, the fact is, even without deploying this outdated method of flogging we have all turned out well in my opinion. Perhaps am a little stubborn but this is not in anyway negative- indeed it is positive, as this stubborness has reflected in the resolute way in which i have pursued many of my aspirations.

Story my sister, that is for you. There are some kids that needs real iron hand otherwise they will go astray and that is what most parent try to avoid.

its no wonder , majority of those law makers grew up in motherless babies home , they lacks the parental care in the first instance , if the babies spoils right from home , theres little the teacher can do in the school, so they will have more area boys in lagos in the near future now , and probably for exports

Hahahahahahahahaaaaa !!!!!!! Area boys 4 export.

Wait a MINUTE..... In Nigeria??? I mean in LAGOS??? Wonders shall never end. You know there are countries where laws like this will prove fruitful and countries where after hours of passing this legislation, Parents are still going to be flogging their kids. If this law was passed somewhere in the east, I would say well fine, maybe it will work.... BUT in Lagos??? Where young children want to grow so quick and start acting as if they are Americans, talking to anyone any how they want to all because they think they are grown?Huh? I don't think so. Lagos is the worst place to pass a law like this. Women who come to and Live in lagos now already have been stereotyped on and now we want our kids to misbehave freely all because they know daddy and mommy won't flog them if they go having sex at the age of 14, or even calling their parents names however they like. NIGERIA is digging its grave by trying to be like Americans. It's high time these people realize that Nigeria is Nigeria and America will always be America. Stupidity all in the name of Civilization.
