culprits of the Oct.1 bomb blasts, which claimed at least 14 lives, fresh indications have emerged that the nation was lucky not to have recorded highly-placed Nigerians as victims of the incident.
It was gathered that former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, Alhaji Shehu Shagari, Ernest Shonekan, Abdusalami Abubakar, and others were lucky to have escaped being caught in the bomb blasts, which rocked the independence celebrations.
Investigations showed that a white Toyota Coaster bus conveying Obasanjo and other heads of states passed through the spot of the bomb blasts along Shehu Shagari Way barely 30mins before the first bomb exploded at 10.30 am.
Other passengers in the Coaster bus were the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Odein Ajumogobia, heads of governments of the African countries that attended the event, top officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, especially directors and their deputies.
One of the directors of the Foreign Affairs ministry was so moved by the incident that he headed for one of the first generation churches to give the testimony of the escape.
Meanwhile, President Goodluck Jonathan has renewed his call for a quick action in the ongoing investigations into the incident that has caused a serious security scare in the Federal Capital Territory.
It was learnt that the President ordered security operatives to tackle with urgency, the emerging security issues in the country.
A source said, “The President is embittered that security agencies did not take the pre-emptive measures to prevent the incident in spite of similar occurrences in Warri and others places.”
The source added that that the SSS had intensified its search to ensure that the culprits and their financiers were brought to justice in accordance with the expectations of Nigerians.
It was gathered that security operatives might have apprehended yet another culprit in the twin bomb blasts.
The source said, “With the progress recorded so far, the SSS may be nearing the completion stage in its investigation.”
Since the bombing incidents, visitors and guests to the major hotels in Abuja are being thoroughly screened for before being allowed into such facilities.
For instance, it is now becoming the standard for guests visiting the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, the Abuja Sheraton Hotel and other high-profile hotels to be subjected to security screening at the gate.

Error in this story, the place the bomb blast occur is always used by staffs at the office that have no tags or access to parking lot at the office complex or cannot afford the N100 pay to pack at eagle square car park. No senior management staff park's his car their, is mostly 4 junior staffs, except if traffic hold someone at the junction their. They bombers only fixed that bomb at a place where only the poor one's will suffer it, period.
