THE crisis rocking  the Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic  Party (PDP) stems from the personal ambition of former governor of the state, Alhaji Rashidi Ladoja, Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala, has said.

Alao-Akala, who spoke through his Special Adviser on Public Communications, Chief Dotun Oyelade, was reacting to media reports credited to Ladoja, blaming the problem within the party on former President Olusegun Obasanjo and calling for his removal as PDP Board of Trustees (BOT) chairman.

The governor said Ladoja’s resolve to undermine the party and its leadership that brought him to power in 2003 was at the root of his predicament.

“Senator Ladoja’s resolve to undermine the PDP is his central focus and that of his co-travellers. The signals are, however, there that the gang up has triggered crises of its own by the absence of some notable politicians and the lack of consensus on a common gubernatorial aspirant,” the governor said.

He added that the common denominator for members of the group was that an Ibadan indigene would fly its flag in 2011, while wondering why the faction could not mobilise supporters from Oyo, where the rally was held, as was the case during the Olubadan’s book launch, last week.
