• Photo: Sun News Publishing More Stories on This Section The Kano State Police Command has sacked two serving police constables, Yusuf Ibrahim and Salim Mahmoud, from the Nigeria Police Force (NPF). This followed their alleged complicity in the abduction and rape of a 16-year-old girl.
The State Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Mohammad Tambari Yabo, disclosed that another officer, Inspector Mohammed Dantalle, was demoted to the rank of a sergeant, following the scandal, even as he stated that the case had been dispatched to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) in the state Ministry of Justice for advice.
He spoke during a press conference, yesterday, at the Bompai Police headquarters of the command, adding that the Police were looking for three other civilians, who allegedly participated in the abduction and rape of the girl but are now at large.
The Commissioner, who frowned at the alleged roles of his officers in the whole saga, maintained that the Force would not hesitate to sanction any of its own, who, at anytime, was found to have breached the law of the land. Trouble started for the embattled police officers, about a month ago, when the family of the girl lodged a complaint at the police division in Kwalli, but was not satisfied with the plea of the DPO that they rest the case.
The family reported the matter to the State Hisbah Board and the Secretary of the Board, Salisu Aliyu, took the matter to the press. The 16-year-old (name withheld) in her various interviews, claimed that on the night she was abducted, she was on her way from a family errand at about 8pm.

I don´t blame the Police officers, rather those who employed them without knowing that they are employing hudlums. Corruption has gone wide in ur country.

The earlier those in charge of recruiting officers start taking those that graduated from a police force school the better for everybody.. If you ask these people the level of their education some will tell you that they barely passed out from Secondary School.. Chukwu zoba anyi oooooo.

This is just a reflection of the moral bankruptcy in our society. It was a good decision. The truth of the matter is that even within the religious circuit, things like this happen. It comes in different forms. It has nothing to do with one's level of education or status. The bottom line is that when people do not have the fear of God, anything goes;Yes, their human nature takes over, bringing them down from the level of higher animals to that of lower animals! May God help us to leave right and do the right things all the time(Amen)
