The suspects, Ifeanyi Cyprian Ukeje, Amaubosi Romanus Akuneziri and Francis Mbaeri, were all arrested on the December 23, in Minna, the state capital, following a search at the residence/office located on Shiroro Hotel road.
Parading the suspects before newsmen in Minna, on Wednesday, the state director of SSS, Dr Larry Obagwu, said that the syndicate confessed to have committed the crime, saying that the mastermind of the crime, Francis Mbaeri, the Managing Director of Trust Concern Eagle Best Ltd, the company handling the electrification of new Nasko General Hospital for the state government, claimed that the reason for sending the message was borne out of genuine concern and the need to intimate the government about the public opinion on the administration.
According to the SSS boss, the MTN SIM Card number 08135533190, used in sending the malicious SMS to the government officials was recovered from their residence/office.
Dr. Obagwu disclosed that both Ifeanyi Ukeje and Amaubosi Akuneziri voluntary confessed to the crime, adding that Ukeje said that Mbaeri sent him to buy the SIM Card that was used for the SMS.
Akuneziri stated that Mbaeri instructed the words to be used in the SMS.
Some of the content of the text messages reads; “Gd dy sir, it is very unfortunate that u and ur boss has become thiefs in the state witg 19billion naira pst 2 baba director acct. De. All Niger a watching u and ur boss, SSG fair Allah no sect in all doing ur enemies are watching.”
The text further reads; “Hi if u care 2 hear or know a/ yr dealings in the state has been exposed by us. All d deals u made in the airport roads street light, Bay clinic rd. construction, etc. we hav all the documents with us intact, wat we er doing now is just d beginning unless u change & allow others to benefit. Warning don’t call dis num if you wan 2 communicate u can text.
