The Togolese arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu last month on a short-term loan deal until the end of the season, and has already made his mark, netting two goals in three appearances.
Speaking in an interview with Bwin, he said of his transfer: “I have to thank my colleagues for their support. They have made me feel at home and the transition has been easy.
“It’s great to play for the best team in the world, and the truth is that everyone has been very kind to me. I’m sure any player will tell you that to play with Real Madrid is a dream come true. I dreamt of playing here when I was young, at one of the biggest clubs in the world. I hope to stay here a long time.”
Adebayor continued by professing his admiration for La Liga and its attacking football, adding: “The way the game is played is more open, and they are many possible outcomes, like 5-4. [lionel] Messi, [Cristiano] Ronaldo, Kaka and [Mesut] Oezil are some of the best players in the world, and they play here. There is much talent in the league.”
On a personal level, he remarked that he wants to continue scoring goals, starting with the tricky weekend clash at the Cornella-El Prat against Espanyol.
He concluded: “I hope I can get many goals for Real Madrid. It will be a difficult game, we just need to keep in mind that we are going there to win. I want to help Real Madrid to win games, and I am ready to do everything.”
