The management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Oyo State has apprehended two suspected fake corps members, who came to the orientation camp in Iseyin with forged documents with a view to serving in the 2011 Batch 'A' scheme.

The state NYSC Coordinator, Mr Gabriel Ibe, who disclosed this, on Thursday, said at the swearing-in ceremony of the 2011 Batch 'A' corps members posted to the state, that the duo, whose identities were not revealed, had already been handed over to the police for further investigations.

He disclosed that  a total of 2,395 corps members from different parts of the country, including  pregnant and nursing mothers, were registered at the orientation camp in Iseyin, adding that they had all been duly kitted and accommodated.

But he expressed concern over the inability of the state government  to fulfill its promise to complete the permanent orientation camp in Iseyin, several months after government had pledged to actualise its completion.

According to him, the temporary nature of the camp had not made the management any easy.

“Though not designed with boarding facilities, the school which can barely take 2,000 corps members and staff now has cramped in almost 2,500 corps members and 300 staff.  It is no gainsaying that this is not a healthy situation,” he said.

He said that the sustained threat by the Olona family to evict the NYSC from the continued use of their property, including the use of unorthodox medium, had compounded the matter

Speaking, the state governor, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, who was represented by the state Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Honourable Makanjuola Ayoola, pledged to continue to provide the requisite enabling environment for the NYSC in the state to effectively discharge its mandate.
