Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions in the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State. Applicants must be resourceful and able to face challenges in the young but fast-growing institution whose mandate is the promotion of Agriculture.

* Senior Research Fellow
Department: Centre for Molecular
Biosciences and Biotechnology (CMBB)

Qualification:
A Ph.D degree with five years practical laboratory experience. Should be experienced in the maintenance of thermal cycle, laminar flow hoods and electrophoresis instruments. Candidates should be familiar with tissue culture practices such as routine maintenance of cells in culture, cryopreservation, transfection and transformation of animal and plant cells. Required molecular biology laboratory skills should include probing of nucleic acid fragments with labeled synthetic probes, polyacrylamide gel electrophoretic separation of proteins and analysis by Western Immunoblotting, real-time PCR. Additional technical expertise with such techniques as recombinant DNA technology, cloning and sequencing of candidate genes, gel mobility shift, and reporter gene assays, would be an added advantage.

* Laboratory Technologist II
Department: CMBB

Qualification:
HND in Medical Laboratory Technology/ B.Sc in Microbiology or Biochemistry with 2 years practical laboratory experience.

In the case of Academic Staff vacancies, separate pages showing the candidate’s publications, in chronological order, must be attached. CLOSING DATE: Six weeks from the date of publication.
