The police in Lagos State are on the trail of an unidentified young man residing in Ojota area of the state for allegedly stabbing an undergraduate of the Lagos State University to death.

PUNCH METRO gathered that Aishatu Abdulrahman, a 100 level student of Fishery Department was found dead in a pool of blood two weeks ago on her street at Olumeke Street, Ojota.

Residents said that there were marks on the corpse to suggest that the young lady might have been a victim of violence.

It was learnt that Abdulrahman’s former lover, whose name was not disclosed, had been pestering the lady to reconsider her decision to end the relationship. Some of the residents alleged that the former lover was violent and could have armed and killed Abdulrahman.

Also, PUNCH METRO gathered that the deceased’s current lover told policemen that the former lover had been threatening to harm her if she refused to reconsider him.

As soon as Abdullrahman’s corpse was discovered, the residents reported the case to the police and suspected the former lover as a prime suspect. One of the residents, who pleaded anonymity said, “We have our conviction that the former boyfriend killed the lady because there had been many instances to show that both of them were having problem over their relationship.”

Spokesman of the state Police Command, Mr. Samuel Jinadu, said that police initial findings suggested that the former lover, whose identity he also refused to disclose, had questions to answer on the circumstances surrouding the lady’s demise.

“The suspect is still at large. He has been missing since the incident happened. We are combing everywhere and we will get him,” he said.

Meanwhile, the police in the state also arrested a man, who presented himself as a lawyer in order to secure the release of four motorcycles seized by operatives of Lagos State Transport Management Authority for traffic offences.

Jinadu said the man, Alachenu Anthony, collected the sum of N2, 500 from each of the men whose motorcycles were seized.

However, trouble started for Alachenu who is actually a school certificate holder, when the LASTMA officials suspected through his utterances that he was not a lawyer and invited the police.

“We arrested him and he has confessed to us that he is not a lawyer but was merely hustling,” Jinadu said.

However, Alachenu declined to speak with our correspondent.
