The Western powers have always flexed their muscles especially when it comes to third world countries and the Arab world in particular. What is it that is so wrong with the Arabs that they cannot speak with one voice? Why are they such global live testing grounds for new  weapons? First it was Iraq, then Sudan and now Libya.  Is it right for the West to attack Libya to protect "civilians" while the palestinians are under constant air bombardment and enslavement? Is it simply because of oil or there is a double standard?

After 40 years in power this despot wants to rule until death. He faced opponents with weapons of state to remain in power and does not care who he kills. A terrible misrule if you ask me!

I am in support of fighting tyranny and oppression everywhere. Gaddafi is drunk with power and I think that after 40 years of mis-rule, he should have followed the examples of neighbouring Egypt and other by stepping down but no, he thinks he knows it more than millions of his country men calling for him to step down. What did he do? He sent tanks and war planes against his own people. He does not deserve to be there anymore. On the other hand, the palestinians are constantly bombarded and there are so many other countries where iron fist is the norm, e.g., China and Russia but we don't hear of engaging these powers in military confrontation - so much for double standard!

Imagine the senseless destruction and killings in the name of a bigger right. The world needs dialogue to solve international issues and not more violence.

just as you know , the devilished and selfished western world is doing all this with aim of taking control of the OIL there in LIBYA , they want a replacement so vadly for the supplies comming from the middle east , where at present they are facing the greatest difficulties  of their life in a counrties like SAUDI ARABIA, KUWAIT. and IRAQ, they wants a replacemets from , SUDAN, NIGERIA and now LIBYA , and for sure they will meet a more hostiles in those mentioned country much more than what they were facing at present time

The bombing of Libyan war amunitions by western countries is an indirect way of controlling the country and the OIL. Gbagbo has been terrorising his people in Ivory Coast but no western intervention because the country has No OIL. The west is well known for double standard e.g. Iran was bombarded because of their oil and not weapons of mass destruction as alleged by USA and its western allies.

Did you say Iran or you meant Iraq?

I blame the Arab disunity. They supported the war in Iraq and they are also supporting what is going on in Libya. I think the region has had so many decades of authoritarian rule that I am in support of the current revolution of change sweeping the region but for some die-hard rulers who will cling to power whatever.

While I agree with most of what you said, it is also true that Nigeria has many times the population of Libya. It is far harder and most expensive to create a welfare state in a country with population like Nigeria. This is not an excuse for them not to try but when the basic infrastructures are decrepit due to corruption and looted treasury, you begin to imagine the magnitude of the task facing any responsible government in Nigeria.

It beats my imagination that after 40 years in power someone still wants to cling to power as if Libya is a kingdom. What makes Gaddafi better than any other Libyan?

As much as we all want Gadafi off the seat of power in Libya, the innocent people of Libya should not be turn to roasted suya in the name of protecting them, millions of innocent Afghans have died in the name of fighting terrorism, another millions of Iraqi's in the name of looking for weapon of mass destruction even after the killing of sadam Hussein. I hope this is not another system of siphoning the Libyan oil. Every nation is supposed to be sovereign.
