Nigeria lost 1-0 to Lionel Messi's Argentina at the 2010 World Cup
Nigeria are to host former world champions Argentina in an international friendly on 1 June.

The game will be held at the Abuja National Stadium.

The countries last met at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, when the South Americans won 1-0.

"It's massive news for us to get a high-profile game like this in Nigeria," said Nigeria Football Federation chairman Aminu Maigari.

"The team, fans and media deserves it and we are looking forward to welcoming big names in world football to our country come June."

Nigeria will use the match as a warm-up for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Ethiopia on the weekend of 4/5 June.

Argentina have won the World Cup twice, in 1978 and 1986.

Now they are talking. Staging a friendly match with a big team is good. Unlike the unknown teams they do play in the name of "friendly matches".
