An Ejigbo Magistrate court is presently hearing a criminal case instituted against a Landlord, Mr. Segun Fadipe over an alleged attack on his tenant's wife, Victoria who he allegedly atabbed for owing two months rent arrears.
Fadipe who was arrested by the police was alleged to have broken a bottle and stabbed the woman on her neck, stomach and other part of her body over a flimsy argument, while the woman was said to have collapsed. She was consequently rushed to a nearby hospital where she is being treated.
Ikechukwu Ani, husband of the victim, it was gathered, owed Fadipe N4, 000, being two months house rents for December 2010 and January 2011.
Fadipe claimed he had demanded rent arrears from the tenant which he promised to pay but failed to keep the promise."At a time, he stopped coming to the house because of the rent he was owing me," Fadipe was quoted as saying.
Victoria's husband who confirmed owing the landlord, affirmed that he pleaded with him to have patience with him until he would be in a position to pay the money.
Vanguard Homes & Property learnt that victoria returned home from work that fateful day and wanted to enter her apartment, but the angry landlord told her not to come into the house unless she made good her husband's promise to settle the outstanding rent..
The woman allegedly ignored the landlord's threat and attempted to gain access into her house, only for Segun (landlord) to pick a nearby empty bottle of beer, broke it and stabbed her several times.
He reportedly ran away after the attack while the woman was rushed to a hospital where the doctors are now battling to save her life.
The matter was reported at Ikotun police station which arrested the landlord and later charged him to Ejigbo Magistrate's Court for assault occasioning body harm.
