GOV. AKPABIO’S STATEWIDE BROADLIES

http://wwwGovernor Godswill Akpabio yesterday addressed a statewide broadcast on the recent crisis between the ruling PDP and the ACN in Uyo and Ikot Ekpene respectively where scores of cars and buildings as well as lives were lost.

In the broadcast, the governor blamed the crisis on the ACN saying they are the ones that imported mercenaries from neirbouring states to come and cause mayhem in the state.

But, investigations by Akwa Ibom Village Square reveals that sometime last year during a rally organized by one of the support group of the governor, ADV, which is sponsored by Barr. Ibanga Akpabio, the governor’s brother and state secretary of the PDP, the trio of Chief Sunny Ibanga, PDP Chapter Chairman for Ikot Ekpene, Hon. Nse Ntuen, Executive Chairman, Essien Udim LGA and Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem, Commissioner for Housing and Urban Renewal had warned vehemently aspirants from other ethnic group not dare come for campaigns in Annang land.

Also, it was gathered that governor had visited his Senatorial district two days before the unfortunate incident where he was alleged to have given the some of N1.5m to about seven different groups in the area.

Again, a PDP bigwig in his government who confided in Akwa Ibom Village Square question why the crisis should come after the governor had virtually completed his campaign tour of all Ibibio speaking LGA.

He described as very unfortunate a situation where the governor does not allow other aspirants the opportunity to have access to public utilities for their campaign rallies or even allow them to contest election against him.

Recalling the incidence of Ini-ekong Udonwa and Sam Ewang, the source concluded, saying they is no way the governor cannot absolve himself from the crisis that took place recently in the state.

From a very reliable source, Akwa Ibom Village Square learnt that Etido Inyang, S.A. to the governor, Don Etim, Commissioner for works, Chief Sunny Ibanga and the Chief Sunny Ibout had paid ‘boys’ in Ikot Ekpene to stop the ACN from entering Ikot Ekpene.

The source hinted that these monies were disbursed as early as six am in the morning. The money was said to have caused serious fracas amongst the “boys’.

According to political pundits in the state, the governor’s statewide broadcast would have calm the frayed nerves of political spectators in the state but he made nonsense of the broadcast when he used the event of the crisis to address a topical issue such as the ceding of 86 oil well to Rivers state, after his loquacious Commissioner for Information, Mr. Aniakan Umanah had gone to the press accusing Obong Victor Attah for signing off the said oil wells..ibomvillagesquare.com/news/thursday/gov-akpabio’s-statewide-broadlies
