PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), yesterday, dismissed the antics and campaign strategy of his opponents in the April polls, saying that all their proposed solutions to the nation’s socio-economic transformation are hopeless.

Speaking at the grand finale of his nationwide campaign held  at the Eagle Square, Abuja, Jonathan said though his opponents were able to highlight Nigeria’s developmental challenges they could not proffer convincingly workable solutions.

“Our opponents have done a very good job of reminding the populace of the challenges that are still facing the country but many of the solutions  they proffered are hopelessly inadequate. Some of them seem they want to turn back the hands of the clock and take us back to methods that have failed repeatedly because they have not really assimilated investors demand and the new global focus on good governance”, the president said.

“I will clear any vested interest that stands in the way of quick policy implementation and rapid economic transformation. This is my message to the private sector, both formal and informal. This is also my message to all investors, both local and foreign. We will work with you and partner with you to make Nigeria to work”.

On corruption, he said he was determined to fight the vice at every level regardless of the position in the society adding that existing institutions would be strengthened and empowered to carry out their functions, without fear or favour.

On security, he pointed out that even though there were cases of terrorist attack in the country, they are  peculiar to Nigeria but it was a situation that would come to pass.

“Politics does not mean that you have to carry knives and cut people, politics does not mean that you will have to carry fire and burn houses and property; politics does mean that you are going to beat up people, we totally reject it and the security agencies are going to deal with any situation as it deserves.

“There will be no sanctuary for criminals in Nigeria, and if you get involved, be ready to face the law,” he declared.

Also speaking, Vice President Namadi Sambo observed that Nigerians had made their position known that they are behind PDP because, according to him, the party stands  for progress, development and transformation.

“In the last nine months, our abandoned infrastructure for over 30 years, the railway transportation system is already working today. The power which before 1999 was completely abandoned without any investment, today, the president has revitalised power and insha Allah, within the next four years, the issue of power will be a thing of the past,” he said.

All PDP state governors and gubernatorial candidates also pledged to deliver their various state to Jonathan and PDP.
