The People’s Democratic Party, PDP will set up a body of committee to sanction its members no matter who that engage in anti-party activities during the general elections.

Alhaji Yusuf Ayitogo, the National Vice Chairman of the party for the North-Central Zone, announced this on Saturday in an interview .

Ayitogo spoke against the backdrop of the low performance of his party in the state during the April 9 National Assembly elections.

The ruling party in Nasarawa lost one senatorial seat and three federal constituencies to the opposition Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).

Ayitogo said the party had learnt its lessons and had made corrections, adding that some members of the party engaged in anti-party activities in the state during the polls.

“A committee will be set up at the end of the elections to assess the roles played by members and anyone found to have engaged in any act deemed inimical to the party will be appropriately sanctioned in line with the party’s constitution,” he said.

He also decried the attitude of Nigerian politicians for crying foul whenever they lost an election, describing the situation as “unfortunate”.

Ayitogo advised politicians to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship as demonstrated by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Dimeji Bankole, who conceded defeat and congratulated his opponent when he lost in his bid for a second term.

INEC was also commended for restoring the hope of Nigerians in the electoral process, saying that the 2011 elections had been generally accepted to be credible.
