Kidnappers of the five Corps members on Tuesday at Omademe Community in Ikwerre Local Government of Rivers State, have made a phone call demanding N100 million ransom to free the victims.

PMNEWS learnt exclusively this morning that the abductors said they were not ready to negotiate with the parents of the Corps members, NYSC or the Ikwerre Local Government Council of the state. They said they were only ready to deal with either the state or the Federal Government.

It was learnt that security has been beefed up to track down the hoodlums. The corps members were on their way from a school in Omademe community in the council, where they had gone to inspect a library project they donated to the school as part of their community development service when they were abducted. In his reaction, Blessing Wikina, the Chief Press Secretary, CPS, to Governor Chibuike Amaechi, dismissed the demand for ransom. “The kidnappers have missed the mark because the Amaechi administration does not negotiate with kidnappers. Security personnel are on top of the situation. We can assure Rivers people and parents of the Corps members that their children will be released unhurt and very soon, ” he said. A source that contacted the kidnappers on phone and also spoke with one of the female corps members who complained that they had only be fed once since they were abducted on Tuesday. One of the female Corps members was driving in their colleague ’s car, when the incident occurred. Those kidnapped are four female and a male. The state Commissioner of Police, Suleiman Abba, confirmed the abduction, adding that the police were on top of the situation.
