A 38-year-old woman, Patricia Ogbu, has appeared before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, for “fraudulently” allowing her flat at Chevy Estate, Lekki, Lagos State, to be used in aiding another person to commit felony.
The act was alleged to have led to the stealing theft to Oladapo Ogundeji on May 10, 2011.
The Investigating Police Officer in the case, Sgt. Idowu Obatimehin, said the accused committed an offence punishable under Section 7 (b) of the Criminal Code, Cap 17, Volume 2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.
Ogbu was also alleged, in the second count, to have conspired with some others, said to be at large, to obtain money by false pretence “on the same date, time and place.”
The offence is contrary to Section 516 of the Criminal Code, Cap 17, Volume 2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.
In a separate charge, Ogbu was accused of obtaining the sum of N630,000 under false pretence.
She was alleged to have obtained the money from one Emmanuel Ohiorenua on November 29, 2010, under the pretext of renting an apartment to the latter in the same estate.
The IPO, Rose Akpabonam, in the charge sheet, said the offence was punishable under Section 419 of the Criminal Code, Cap 17, Volume 2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to all the charges. She was granted bail in the sum of N20,000 with two sureties, while the case was adjourned till July 22, 2011.
