Niger State Governor, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu, on Saturday warned Muslims that allegedly engaged in suicide bombings in parts of the country that they stand the risk of going to hell if they did not desist from the dastardly act, because Islam forbids the taking of another person’s live for unjust cause.
Aliyu , who gave the warning the at the 1st Mu'azu Babangida Aliyu National Literary Colloquium with the theme “Building Intellectual Power to Fix Nigeria”, held by the Association of Nigeria Authors in Minna, said that all disputes should be resolved in a peaceful manner instead of embarking on ungodly acts.
He noted that both Christianity and Islam were against taking of innocent lives and the shedding of blood, highlighting that Islam in particular does not support suicide bombing. On the continued dastardly acts of Boko Haram Islamic sect’s members who had caused the death of many people, and also destroyed properties in the North Eastern part of the country, and Abuja, Aliyu said it was time that the government negotiatiated with members of the sect.
“Boko Haram is beyond military operation, it should be looked at in its proper contest. We must communicate with the people to solve their local problems”, the Governor advised.
Reacting to the remarks made by the guest lecturer, Professor Odia Ofeimum, that governors in the country should back down on their supports for the federal government's plan to remove fuel subsidy, Governor Aliyu, who promised to pass the message to the Nigeria Governors Forum, said that some Nigerians were milking the country dry with the retention of fuel subsidy.
He said that the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation NNPC has been directed to publish a list of all companies that were allegedly benefitting from fuel subsidy when they did not import a single litre of fuel into Nigeria.
