poster i do not think its an obligation but despite the close relationship i have with my mum, the first major arguement that lasted for quite a number of days started when i told her my intention about marriage.

To Marry is not an obligation, you can chose not to marry but it depends on you. In the bible Apostle Paul made it clear that for him he won't marry since he can hold himself from  segxwal urge of any kind. And he advises any christian who can not flee from fornication to get married to avoid those sins of Adultery/Fornication, so my dear you know yourself and also know what you can handle. Its better you marry than you didn't and still see yourself practicing those sins Paul mentioned, so chose yourself what you want/need not to be a victim!!!
