Controversy over ex-LG boss’s resurrection in Port Harcourt
Written by Bolaji Ogundele, Port Harcourt
Sunday, 29 January 2012

There was near stampede on Friday night in Ahoada, headquarters of Ahoada-East local government area of Rivers State following the alleged miraculous resurrection of a man who had been dead for 24 hours.

Sunday Tribune gathered that the former chairman of Ahoada-East council area, Sunny Edema, fell asleep at about 11pm on Thursday, January 26, 2012 and failed to wake up the next morning.

Reports said Edema, who had been known with a poor heart condition, was tested by two medical doctors, who certified him clinically dead.

But the situation took an interesting turn when Sunny’s elder brother, who was a member of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), an assembly the deceased was said to belong, sent a message home that his brother should not be taken to the morgue, adding that he was not dead yet and that the founder of the church, Prophet Temitope Joshua would come to wake his brother up.

Sunday Tribune further gathered that though the founder of the church did not come in person, he dispatched some of his senior aides, described as ‘wise men’ by sources and that it was their arrival and process of bringing their dead member back to life that attracted the mob-like crowd.

Narrating the development to Sunday Tribune on Saturday, a female source, who merely identified herself as Mary said that, “I learnt that before he died he was complaining of pains in his heart and was restless.

“He died on Thursday night at about 11pm and two doctors checked his body and confirmed that he was dead already. But his brother who is living in Lagos, attending T.B. Joshua’s church sent a message home that they should not bury the man. I learnt he said his brother was not dead and that T.B Joshua would come to wake him up.

“If you had been in Ahoada last night you might not have been able to move around, especially around the man’s street because it was like the whole town came to see what was about to happen. To cut a long story short, they resurrected him at about 11pm last night.

“But there are other rumours that he was actually resurrected by members of his secret cult society and that it was not any church that woke him.”

Besides the testimony of Mary, other sources told Sunday Tribune that there were other rumours that the whole resurrection drama was staged for the purpose of selling the church to them.

One of such people was a resident of Ahoada who did not want his name mentioned in the matter.

According to him, “the man, whom I know to have a history of high blood pressure might not have died in the first place, not forgetting that his elder brother, who is based in Lagos had warned that his brother was not dead thus must not be taken to the morgue until his church members came.

“It is Ekpeye (Ahoada) people’s culture not to leave the dead in the house, but this man was kept in the house for about 24 to 48 hours. Besides, the man is also a member of the church, I don’t know if he has stopped attending, but his daughter died recently, why didn’t the same church resurrect her?”, the source queried.

i do not know, why they were trying so hard to convince  the people? they should have known that some people had known their tactics as much as them...and let him stop making mockery of himself.
