Child abuse! Parents arrested for girl’s rape

   The mother and stepfather of a Qwaqwa girl in South Africa were arrested on Monday for segxwally abusing her for the past eight years, police said on Monday.

Spokesman Sergeant Mmako Mophiring said the mother apparently knew the stepfather was molesting the girl, but did nothing.

The crimes happened between 2003 and 2011 and began when the girl was five-years-old.

The 51-year-old man would sneak into the girl's room when her mother was asleep.

Mophiring said the girl apparently told her mother. Although she told the girl she would handle the problem, she did not. The girl eventually told neighbours and the police were alerted.
