New Delhi, Jan 31 (PTI) Four Nigerians were arrested here for allegedly cheating several people of lakhs of rupees by making them believe that they have won lotteries, police said today. The gang even allegedly misused the official logos of International Cricket Council (DLF-IPL), Mumbai International Airport, Airport Authority of India, Ministry of Finance -- Department of Revenue, Central Board of Excise and Customs and United Nations to cheat the people. Police have recovered eight laptops, 126 SIM Cards, 26 mobile phones, 20 envelops of pre-paid SIM Cards, a Walky- Talky, nine Internet data cards, 2 ATM Debit cards, Cheque Books, expensive items like wrist watch and play station beside other articles. The arrested have been identified as Onwutalobi Martin Oluchukwu (30), Nneke John Odikpo (29), Sunday Chukwulota (33) and Benjamin (35), Chhaya Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), said. The arrests came following investigations into a complaint received in December from one Prem Chand who claimed a fraud message was received by his son claiming that he had won a huge amount in UK on his mobile number. His son had already deposited Rs 48,000 in two accounts of SBI as per the instructions of the caller and the gang was insisting that he pay another Rs 1.85 lakh for realising the lottery money. During investigations, it came to light that a gang of Nigerians were allegedly involved in incidents of cheating by telling their victims that their mobile number has been selected in DLF-IPL Cricket Games and by other similar allurements. "It has been noticed in the past that when any member of such type of gang is arrested, then the kingpin runs away due to which the complete set up could not be busted and they continued their activities by shifting their base to a new place," Sharma said. On a specific input, all the four persons were arrested yesterday from Arjun Nagar and Hamayupur of Safdarjung Enclave. Okafor, the gang leader, allegedly told police that they used to come India on business or study visa.
