Adebayo who had five children from the defendant, Omolara, told the court that she was not submissive, cruel and troublesome.
“She never trusted me and anytime I go out, she accused me of seeing another woman.
“I do not like the way she treats our children.
“There was a time she accused our second child of stealing, after beating him, she used razor blade and slashed the boy on his back.
“She even gives them goods to hawk on the streets, if they do not sell, she would not give them food, “ Adebayo said.
The defendant, 41, a trader said that she took over the role of feeding the family for a long time when her husband no job.
“When he got a job, instead of him taking care of the family, he went out to rent a well-furnished apartment for another woman and stopped coming home for a while.
“It was when they fought that I knew about it.
“Truly, I slashed the boy with a blade on his back because I do not want him to become an armed robber in the nearest future.
“His summoning me to court will not make any changes in my life because I have learnt to be strong through his uncaring attitude.
“Please separate us, I am also no more interested,’’ Omolara told the court.
The Court President, Alhaji Nojeem Isiaka, advised Omolara against cruelty to her children and warned that if any brutal actions were ever reported about her, she would be arrested.
The case was adjourned till Feb.23 for judgment. (NAN)
