In a petition, the Muslim Council lamented that some people in reaction to what happened in Mubi and Jimeta, launched reprisal attacks in Numan,Lamurde,Demsa, Girei and Guyuk Local Government Areas, killing over 50 Muslims and their livestock. The council added that mosques were also burnt in the process.
The group further lamented that while the state government assisted victims of the Jimeta church attack with N16 million, no government official visited the affected Muslim communities when they were attacked.
“The Muslim Council is worried that the government and those at the helm of affairs in the affected areas did not respond positively by providing relief materials to the victims, nor temporary settlement to the affected persons,’’ the group said.
The petition, which was signed by the council’s chairman, Alh.Muhammadu Shu’aibu Girei and its secretary, Muhammadu A.Kawu, asked security agents to make public the outcome of their investigations on the Mubi and Jimeta killings.
