The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the suspect was arrested in Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area of the state following a tip-off.
The NSCDC State Deputy Commandant, Mr AlHassan Akor, told NAN in Ilorin on Tuesday that one John Olalekan, a 30-year-old commercial motorcyclist, had earlier been reported missing on March 26 by his family.
He explained that investigation by officers of the command and the police led to the arrest of the suspect who was said to have hired the deceased to carry him to the outskirt of the town.
The deceased was said to have been attacked and killed by a gang led by the suspect.
NSCDC officials were said to have discovered the lifeless body of Olalekan at the back of Government Secondary School (GSS) Omu-Aran without his head, right hand and other vital parts.
Akor said that following the arrest of the suspect and the search of his house in Omu-Aran, a polythene bag containing human parts and stained with blood was discovered.
He said other items recovered from the suspect’s residence in Omu-Aran included two dane guns, cutlasses, daggers, Indian hemp and a calabash containing some concoctions.
The suspect, however, was reported to have claimed that the human parts were that of a monkey kept with him by a friend.
Akor told NAN that the suspect had since been handed over to the Kwara Police Command for further investigation while the remains of the deceased had been deposited at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital.
The spokesman of the police command, Mr Ezekiel Dabo, confirmed the incident, saying the suspect would soon appear in court after investigation.
