| Description: Wizkid also known as Star Boy or Wizzy, whose real names are Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun (born July 16, 1990) is a Nigerian recording artist, songwriter, performer, and brand ambassador for Pepsi and MTN Nigeria. Just like many celebrities that started their music career in the church, wizkid profile as a singer began at the age of 11 and was known then as “Lil Prinz” and he rebranded his name in 2006 when his music career came into limelight. Wizkid recorded his first album (a 7-track album that was released for his church in Lagos) at the age of 11, the album was produced by OJB Jezreel. It was in 2006 that Ayo Balogun dropped his initial stage name- Lil Prinz and he began working with some of the best artistes in Nigeria today, these include- Naeto C and Ikechukwu. In 2010, Ayo Balogun fully broke into the music industry with the release of his smash hit singles; “Don’t dull”, “Holla at your boy”, and “Tease me”. Ayo Balogun’s debut album- “Super star” was released in 2011 and in June 2011 also, he performed several sold-out concerts in Nigeria, UK, and the United States. Wizkid's most notable songs include "Holla at Your Boy", "Don't Dull", "Love My Baby", "Azonto", "Pakurumo", "Tease Me/Bad Guys", "Dance For Me" with EME, and "Jaiye Jaiye" featuring Femi Kuti among others. His discography resume includes collaboration with international and domestic acts such as Bracket, Angel, Lynxxx, Iyanya, Wande Coal, Ice Prince, R2Bees, Wale, Young Jeezy, Akon and Femi Kuti among others. He has won numerous awards which are; a BET Awards, a MOBO Awards from two nominations, a Channel O Music Video Awards from six nominations, three Nigeria Entertainment Awards from eleven nominations, a Ghana Music Awards from two nominations, two Dynamix All Youth Awards from three nominations, two City People Entertainment Awards from 4 nominations, and a Future Awards among others. In addition, he has been nominated three times at the MTV Europe Music Awards as well as two times at the World Music Awards. He was ranked 5th on Forbes and Channel O's 2013 list of the Top 10 Richest/Bankable African Artistes. Wizkid said that Star Boy's first compilation album will drop in 2014. He also said that Maleek Berry will drop an album in 2014. Wizkid is currently dating Tania Omotayo. |
