A girl once said that the most painful incident in her life was her being raped and dis-virgined at 17 by a prophet she never knew all in the name of her being possessed.  The mother never knew about it cos she was afraid to tell the mom bcos her step dad master-minded the whole thing. She was dragged from home under the watchful eyes of the mom by the so-called prophet and the step dad to sleep in the prophet's house for deliverance. Instead of being delivered what did she get, ASSAULT. If you were in her shoes will you ever forgive your step dad or mom?

Monday, April 26, 2010; 11:31 AM

NAIROBI (Reuters) - A group of Islamic clerics in northeastern Kenya said on Monday it was cracking down on public broadcasts of soccer and films because it feared young Kenyan Muslims were shunning Islamic traditions.

The group based in the town of Mandera on the border with Somalia said it had also put pressure on local administrators to back their television bans in a soccer-mad nation eagerly awaiting the World Cup in South Africa.

"If we come to a place where movies or watching football goes on we simply take everything and destroy the disc and repay the owners. We have now succeeded in 10 places," Sheikh Daud Sheikh Mahmud, head of the group, told Reuters.

"We will not stop until we have destroyed totally all the cinemas showing movies and football in this area," he said by phone from Mandera.

Kenya said such bans could never be enforced legally.

"This is a secular country so our people have the freedom to do whatever they want within the law, which includes watching football," government spokesman Alfred Mutua told Reuters.

151  Forum / Politics / Don’t contest in 2011, Obasanjo tells Jonathan on: 26-04-2010 07:29 PM

•Settle for VP, Northern leaders tell Ag. President
•Odili, Nnamani, Tinubu, others lobby IBB for VP
From former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has come a word of advice for the Acting President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan: Do not contest for the presidency in 2011.

Sources said Obasanjo offered the advice based on reports that some close aides of the Acting President have been mounting pressure on him to be a part of the 2011 elections as a presidential candidate.

Added to this was the fact that Jonathan did not give a clear cut answer to whether he would contest or not when he was asked the question on a Cable News Network (CNN) programme anchored by Christiana Amanpour.

It was gathered that Obasanjo told Jonathan that rather than allow his candidacy to generate more tension, as it has been doing already, he should opt to be the running mate of any Northerner who emerges the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Based on an unwritten agreement, the PDP, on which platform Jonathan and President Umaru Yar’Adua were elected, has zoned the presidency to the North for eight years, beginning from 2007.

According to our source, Obasanjo was not specific in the choice of the candidate Jonathan should work with.
The source hinted that the new plan will make Jonathan continue as the vice-president till 2015 when the presidency will then return to the South, a time it is believed the Acting President should wait for.

Obasanjo reportedly told Jonathan in a telephone conversation that it is only then that the Acting President could be sure of a bloc vote from the North for his ambition.
But it could not be confirmed if Jonathan has agreed to the plan though he hinted in the CNN interview that he could continue as the vice-president in 2011.

Quote

The latest gist of the GUS Celebrity Showdown is the eviction of the "Chairman" (being a popular and ex-anchor for the regular GUS) Bob-Manuel Udokwu. Bob who has always given the celebrity hunters insight as an experienced hand on what to do, or what to expect and what not to expect from each designated assignment, is now the fallen hero.

The last task was for the contestants to drag three bags full of puzzles into their given baskets, after which they will arrange them. According to the anchor, Genevieve Nnaji, no winner would emerge, however a loser was required. Princess, for the first time, finished first in her task. Bob finished last, hence his eviction. Bob makes it the number two person to be evicted from the GUS Celebrity Showdown.
As an ex-anchor of the regular GUS reality show, one would have expected Bob-Manuel Udokwu to go all the way to the finals. His eviction was a big surprise to fellow contestants who looked up to him for advice, having been there before, though as an anchor person.

Chioma, who, by the way, shares a more agreeable bond with Bob, registered the greatest shock. She couldn't just believe it, as Genevieve asked Bob to go break his calabash and leave the camp immediately.

Bob took his eviction rather philosophically, preferring not to bemoan his fate but move on with his life. "I don't like to look over my shoulders. I prefer to look ahead and focus on the future" he said, after smashing his calabash.
