The Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in Abuja has arraigned a former Deputy Comptroller of corrections Mr Kayode Raphael Odeyemi before an FCT high court on a two count charge bordering on Land fraud.

The first count accused Mr Kayode Raphael of defrauding one Mr Joseph Emelieze of N6,500,000 under the guise of helping him make a land purchase in Abuja.

The second count accused Mr Kayode of defrauding another Joemelyz Global of N2,200,000 in the guise of helping him purchase a piece of land in Abuja.

Mr Kayode had pleaded not guilty to both charges and was granted the bail in the sum of One Million Naira with two sureties in like sum, one of whom must be a civil servant residing within the jurisdiction of the Court.

The case was adjourned till the 19th of September 2022.

Checkout the video of a young man assumed to be a supporter of embattled Catholic Priest and Director of Adoration Ministry Enugu Nigeria Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka, threatening to kill Fr Onaga who is the Bishop of the Enugu Catholic Diocese and Mr Peter Obi, The presidential Flag-bearer of the Labour Party.

The young man made the criminal statement while talking to an undisclosed media team during a protest by Fr Mbaka’s loyalists following the Bishop’s decision to close down Mbaka’s Adoration ministry.

Recall that in a previous development, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Enugu had called for the closure of the Adoration ministry after a Fr Mbaka was reported to have made comments referring to Mr Peter Obi as “stingy”, he also went ahead to declare that a stingy man will never become the president of Nigeria.

Many of Mbaka’s followers were dissatisfied by the Bishop’s decision and have held protests in solidarity with Fr Mbaka, this young man is one of such persons.

Reports making rounds at the moment, now has it that popular Nollywood actor, Moses Armstrong has been arrested by officers  of the Nigerian police force for allegedly molesting a 16-year-old girl.

Emeka Rollas, the President of Actors Guild of Nigeria had confirmed the incident in a media report where he described the case as a very serious case.

The case is currently being handled by the First Lady of Akwa Ibom state, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel via her Family Empowerment and Youth Re-Orientation Path Initiative.

Prior to his arrest, the popular Nollywood actor was a Special Assistant to the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel.

The Most Rev. Callistus Valentine Onaga, Bishop of the Enugu Catholic Dioceses has condemned Fr. Mbaka’s recent comments on the Labour Party’s Presidential candidate and former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi.

Recall that a video had surfaced on the internet where Mbaka told his congregation that Peter Obi will never become the President of Nigeria because he is “Stingy”.

The Oyo State House of Assembly has on yesterday , Wednesday, June 15th 2022 initiated the impeachment process of the current State Deputy Governor Mr Rauf Olaniyan.

Recall that in a previous development, Mr Olamiyan had dumped the PDP and moved to the APC, amidst reports that his Principal Governor Seyi Makinde had decided to drop him as running mate ahead of the Oyo State 2023 Gubernatorial elections.

Yesterday , lawmakers in the Oyo State House of Assembly who are mostly PDP members have begun the impeachment process for Mr Olamiyan.

The 5 point impeachment petition was read during yesterday’s ’s plenary session presided over by Hon Adebo Ogundoyin, the Speaker of the House.
The petition accused the Deputy Governor of abuse of power, financial recklessness, gross misconduct, insubordination etc.

The Clerk of the House was instructed by the Speaker to immediately write the Deputy Governor informing him of the impeachment process and mandating him to respond within the space of 7 days.

Is this impeachment process a political witchhunt intended to intimidate the Deputy Governor for leaving the PDP? Or does his Impeachment have merit?
