Forum / Relationships & Romance / Re: State/Country Of Origin: Where you grew up or where your parents were born? |
on: 30-05-2011 02:44 PM
| The confusion about place of origin and place of birth is, I believe, is synonimous to Nigeria. Our fathers' place of birth and origin should not necessarily be our place of birth and origin if we were not born in the same place as our fathers. In the United States where a father was born does not necessarily count as the children's birth place. For example if a father was born in New York, and the children were born in New Jersey, Boston, Philadelphia or Nashville, each child will claim where he or she was born. As against Nigeria where the birth of a child is not entered into a data base, the United States makes provision for that. A child birth record remains permanent without any falsification. In Nigeria, the lack of data base makes room for people to claim multiple birth dates and places. And more importantly, there is the believe that everything must be tied to the father. Even on Nigerian travel passport, even when a child was born outside Nigeria, the state of origin reads Adamawa or Lagos depending where the father was born. This is wrong. Children should be allowed to claim where they were born. | | |

Forum / Politics / Re: BREAKING NEWS: NATIONAL ASSEMBLY ELECTION POSTPONED |
on: 3-04-2011 12:46 PM
| It's ridiculous and senseless to announce the postponement of election that took several months in planning on the day of the election. Does it mean the Professor was not coordinating with his commissioners on daily, weekly or monthly basis to know that INEC was not ready? It is unprofessional and shows gross ineptitude that the professor has the face to apologise to Nigerians on the day the election was suppose to take place. This is another way of celebrating waste in our country. Think about money Nigeria has lost because of actions of some few morons, markets were close, businesses closed, the president took a trip to his village with his entourage on tax payers account and same will be repeated on Monday. What a colossal waste. If we can't get it right by now, I don't know when we would, even with a professor. | | |

Forum / The Buzz Central / Re: Exclusive Photos Of Omotola Jalade At The Grammy Awards 2011 |
on: 23-02-2011 03:21 AM
| What's all the noise about Omotola at the red carpet and at the Grammy? All the pictures do not show her on the red carpet. Let me educate the gullible ones, anyone can walk the red carpet, Omotola and other spectators who go to watch their stars and after the stars have all gone. None of the pictures shows her in the Kodak Center, none shows her at any point as the center of focus. For the limousine, anyone who can cough out $200 can have a ride in a limousine and take pictures. And how come she wasn't seen in the limo? Whoever her promoter/manager is in the US is using those few pictures to deceive Nigerians and lure other Nollywood fools to his agency. If she's a star in Nigeria/Africa, she should be contented with that. One advice for Omotola, next time before you step out, take a look in the mirror. If you've just finished eating pounded yam, please wear girdle. That popping belly is an embarrassment to my wife and all other Nigerian women. And for God sake, respect your husband! | | |

Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Re: Nigeria New Year revellers hit by Abuja 'bomb' |
on: 1-01-2011 07:47 AM
| All around the world ushering in the new year is a thing of joy but in Nigeria, it has turned to tears. This is a message to the president that the forces fighting against him are readily taking the fight to the supposedly most secured place in the country. Until few months ago, the Southeast was the most insecure place in the country but now Abuja. Until there is severe punishment for the act of terrorism in Nigeria, the act will continue. | | |

Forum / Relationships & Romance / Re: NIGERIAN GIRLS ARE ARROGANT!!! |
on: 10-09-2010 03:46 AM
| It depends on who, when, and how you approach the so called "Nigerian girls". It is dangerous to make a blanket statement based on few experiences. One thing I'm sure of is, Nigerian girls are confident of themselves and are not cowards. In most cases, are able to express themselves in clear terms and cannot be taken for a ride. If some people call that arrogance, those people need to re-define the word 'arrogance'. I prefer an expressive Nigerian girls to the docile Western (or whatever) girl. | | |

on: 5-08-2010 06:35 PM
| Ini-edo's husband should be encouraged to buy his ticket and catch the next available flight from Texas to Nigeria. Before he leaves though, someone needs to remind him to come with a lot cash because being from Edo State would not exclude him from kidnappers wrath. I hope he makes enough from his used cars business. Mr. I am married-to-a-Nollihood star. | | |

Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Re: ~Have You Ever Denied Your Country (Nigeria)? . . .~ |
on: 7-02-2010 05:52 AM
| I have never denied being a Nigerian and will never do. God does not make mistake in creation. God chooses the best for everyone but everyone has the choice to choose his/her path. In light of the various woes that have befallen Nigeria and Nigerians at home and in diaspora in the recent past, Nigeria still remains one of the greatest nations on earth. Those of us in diaspora have on various occasions been the subject of humiliation and at some other occasions have had to proudly flaunt our Nigerianness. In spite of the recent label of being a terrorist nation, we have also been seen as a nation of happy people. Those at home have always have to contend with the thieving politicians who have rendered the people of Nigeria helpless. Inspite of all these, our spirits have not broken. We have recorded successes and great achievements around the world. Many people around the world secretly wished they were born Nigerians because Nigerians are smart, industrious, intelligent, innovative, religious, fearless, friendly and above all beautiful. | | |

Forum / Relationships & Romance / Re: Can you share your email password with your partner/spouse? |
on: 6-01-2010 03:08 AM
| There's nothing wrong in sharing your password with your spouse except you have something to hide. In the African-Nigerian-way of life, we tend to believe that the man is the King. In that case, whatever he does is right. Knowing the way most Nigerians live, to be seen as stooping low for their wives is a taboo, sharing their passwords included. I would say, if your spouse has nothing to hide he/she should share his/her password. | | |

Forum / Politics / Re: Obasanjo Positions Lamido for Vice President |
on: 11-12-2009 05:21 AM
| The present woes of Nigeria is squarely on Obasanjo. He rigged Yar'Adua into office to punish the rest of us for daring to refuse him third term. The so called 'fight on corruption' was just a pseudonym to punish those who opposed Obasanjo's subterfuge and trickery. I don't know how bad the country has to be before Nigerians say enough is enough. Another hypocrite is likely to assume office after Yar'Adua is out and the same trend of steal and burn will continue. Only God Almighty can save us at this juncture. | | | |
