The 2010 African Movie Academy Awards event, which took place in Bayelsa State, has come and gone. Yet tongues are still wagging over some issues concerning the event.

Genevieve
It would be recalled that many popular actors were reportedly not present at the awards. One of those conspicuously absent was Genevieve Nnaji, a Nollywood A-list actress.
While some actors gave reasons why they could not attend the awards, Genevieve Nnaji was allegedly absent because her request to be transported in a helicopter to the event and was ignored.
This allegation has generated so much buzz in the Internet with many people describing her request as ridiculous, while some others felt the pretty actress deserved to be ferried to the oil rich state in grand style.
However, to hear from the horse's mouth, Life and Beat called Genny on the phone to find out if she indeed made such a request, but her phone was switched off.
A similar call was put through to AMAA boss, Peace Osigwe, but her line failed to connect. A text message was sent to her phone and a reply saying, "Hi Nonye, Peace got your email on the alleged helicopter request by Genevieve. The truth is any star has a right to make any demand, as a condition to honour any invitation, as much as event organisers have the right to accept or reject any demand. AMAA would really prefer we allow sleeping dog s to lie. AMAA wants to build bridges and to focus on promoting creative excellence within the industry," was sent to the reporter.
