Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Re: South Africa Deports 47 Nigerians |
on: 22-07-2010 03:01 PM
| All, i gotta say is that ordinary Nigerians are paying for the sins and ms-management committed by those in power in Nigeria. Nigeria with plenty of its wealth and natural resources should not be at a position where every country treats its citizen with such disrespect. Those in power do not give a damn, becasue such insults that ordinary Nigerians suffer abroad do not affect them and their families. This matter of Nigerias being deported casually all over the world will continue if those in power refuse to retaliate or reciprocate likewise against countries like South Africa, United States, United Kingdom etc. When World Trade center in NY was attacked, US government secretly rounded up Saudi citzens for their protection and put them on a chartered plane and flew them out of the country, for their own protection not deportation. Saudi Arabia with its oil money was able to recieve that kinda respect from a giant like United States. The rest you can figure out your self................. | | |

Forum / Relationships & Romance / Re: Can Lesbianism be lagalized in Nigeria? |
on: 17-07-2010 05:05 PM
| This term is used very loosely in Naija. A lesbian is a woman who does not like men segxwally. A gay is a man who will not touch a woman, even to save his own life. Bi-segxwals are men and women who swing on both sides of the fence depending on their mood at the time. They like both male and female segxwally. Having made this clarification, Homosegxwality doesn't have to be legalized, just don't discriminate against someone because of their sexaual preference. In United States, civil rights lawsuits has made it possible for the government to rcorgnize domestic partnership relationship in some states, man and man or woman and woman. Instead of calling it marriage, its called civil union. Majority of the states outright reject that notion. | | |

| this story smiles like fish. how can a ten year old make this decision, carry out this adult act by hanging herself. It does not add up. If this stuff happens in US, the adult around this child must answer some serious questions. to be totally exonorated, they have to submitt to a polygraff test. | | |

Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Re: Nigerian woman flees 10 years of slavery in Texas |
on: 20-12-2009 09:22 AM
| There are so many situations as this one in the United States. There was a similar situation in Houston, Texas about 6-7 years ago. Same facts, but the difference was that the family that was holding the lady captive found out that their domestic help was making attempts to break free. Wife called United States Immigration and Custom Services and turned the woman in. She was detained and placed in deportation proceedings. Husband died prior to this incident unfolded. People close to the family, claimed that the lady making the allegation had already left the family, and was picked up by Immigration Officials on a seperate incident and cooked up the story in other to stay in United States legally. Not sure how the story ended. | | |

Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Re: oprah winfrey says: All Nigerians Are Corrupt including Dangote |
on: 19-12-2009 10:55 PM
| Oprah attracts a large following among white women in the US. I don't know how her tv show performs outside United States. Although all tv talk shows are designed to be somewhat informative, the truth remains that primary aim of most of these shows are to rack up tv ratings and sell products. It is not unusual for some of these shows to address one side of the issue, the side that rockets tv ratings, while ignoring the other side. Majority of her viewers and audience are white women. Most of the products advertised and sold during her show are purchased by white women. She probably was trying to impress her audience members.
Having said that, i have to admit that i was not privy to that statement allegedly made by oprah, about Nigerians being the most corrupt country in the world. Although that mentality is very prevelent in the United States, and probaably in Europe also.
Bottom line is, these 419er manage to pull off the immpossible stunts all over the world. Most of their victims in the United States are seasoned professional. I am talking about Lawyers , Doctors, Accountants, Pastors, Bankers, CEOs of big coperations who due to their greed fell victim to these stunts. The funny part of the story is that majorty of the victims don't come forward, they can't believe that they fell for the stunt, especially stunt by dumb africans, so to speak. They are too ashamed or too proud to believe that they fell for scheme that originated out of the jungle.
Instead of addressing what led them to become victim in the first place (greed), they resort to passing the blame on those criminal nigerians, not realizing that they were not under duress when the transaction went down.
Back on track, Oprah probably was trying to follow up on week or month long special that CNN ran about six months ago tittled "How To Rob a Bank" in which all types of scams were revealed. Interestingly, Osuofia's music was used as the theme song for the CNN special.
I do respect her for her accomplisments inspite of the odds stacked against her at the begining of her carrier. Until I watch the show or read some transcript, I have to remain neutral on this one. If Oprah endorses some one in the United States, its a done deal. As a matter of fact, Oprah probably was the the single force or influence that sealed Obama's presidency.
