Wow, I'm shocked to read the majority of the comments on this particular topic, I'm a Nigerian but I have lived in Canada for 22 years and it is disheartening to see what Nigeria has come to...First and foremost, Nigerian's need to wake up and stop looking like fools. Does everyone see the imbalance in this story, the majority of the congregation left on foot and the so call man of God, (Pastor) was riding out in a Hummer. If everyone in Nigeria becomes Pastor who is left to be members of the congregation also I want to know who monitors these churches, either way, that responsible body will probably overlook all the fraud after their pockets are filled. Nigeria has all the potential to be a great well respected country but you have the system in place to suppress all its potential. Like Bob Marley, "Emancipate yourself from mental slavery" this is mental they have suppressed all the mass's mind to believe the only way out is to continue to pay your tithe and all your problems shall be solved...excuse my language but that is BUUUULLLLLLSSSHHHIIITTT!!!!!!, My husband father is a pastor he says all members of the congregation must receive the same financial report that is sent to the ministry at the end of the year, furthermore, you are provided with a receipt by the church at the end of the year that you send with your tax and guess what you get tax relief for your church contribution in Canada. So if you ask me the system in Nigeria is fraud these churches are barely heard up to any responsibility...I say take your 10% find a non-charitable organization and donate at least you know your money is going to be use responsible or for some good, instead to add to the pastor's fleet of cars. |
