But how about when u quote God by exposing the truth for peeps to know. God says "wot ever a man sows he shall reap". The God I know does not force Himself on man n He gives us the privilage to make CHOICES. It makes much sense to serve/worship God with ur own free will n not by force... Forum / Religion / Is there proof in the Bible that Jesus went down into hell after He was crucifie |

| Is there proof in the Bible that Jesus went down into hell after He was crucified ? It is commonly taught in the Churches today that when Jesus died He went to Hell and fought the Power of Darkness and then was raised back to the highest position in Heaven. But where is the proof for such a common taught doctrine. Below I have found some scriptures that back up this teaching. I have an explanation of each verse, but ultimately you can make your own mind up about this matter. But before I start I want you to know that the word “Hades” & “Geenna” are the Greek words that we translate as Hell. In Hebrew the word for Hell is “Sheol” Below are the definitions for the 3 words: HADES {hah’-dace} (as negative particle) hell, grave Name Hades or Pluto, the god of the lower regions Orcus, the nether world, the realm of the dead Later use of this word: the grave, death, hell In Biblical Greek it is associated with Orcus, the infernal regions, a dark and dismal place in the very depth of the earth, the common receptacle of disembodied spirits. Usually Hades is just the abode of the wicked, Lu.16:23, Rev.20:13, 14; a very uncomfortable place. GEENNA {gheh’-en-nah} hell, hell fire Hell is the place of the future punishment called “Gehenna” or “Gehenna of fire”. This was originally the valley of Hinnom, south of Jerusalem, where the filth and dead animals of the city were cast out and burned; a fit symbol of the wicked and their future destruction. SHEOL {sheh-ole’} Sheol, underworld, grave, hell, pit Sheol – the OT designation for the abode of the dead Place of no return Without praise of God Wicked sent there for punishment Righteous not abandoned to it At this stage I want to show you some Scriptures that refer to the location of Hell. See the Scriptures below: In Ezekiel 26:20 (NIV) “…then I will bring you down with those who go down to the pit, to the people of long ago, I will make you dwell in the earth below, as in ancient ruins, with those who go down to the pit, and you will not return or take your place in the land of the living.” Notice that this Scripture indicates that some people are dwelling in the earth below (the pit). Ezekiel 31:16 (KJV) “I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to hell with them that descend into the pit; and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, shall be comforted in the nether parts of the earth.” Again Hell (sheol, underworld, grave, hell, pit) is referred to as being in the earth. Luke 16:19-28 (NIV) “There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores. The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire. But Abraham replied, Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. And beside all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us. He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father’s house, for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.” Remember that these are the recorded words of Jesus himself. Taken literally it suggests that the world of the dead is/was divided into 2 regions. One for the wicked and the other for the righteous. The wicked are in torment in hell and the righteous are/were in peace with Abraham. There was/is a chasm between the 2 places that stopped either side from crossing to the other, yet they could/can still communicate with each other. Now I want to show you that Jesus went to Hades/Hell after He was crucified on the Cross according to the Scripture. Matthew 12:40 (NIV) “For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. ” The Scripture is quite blatant about the fact that Jesus went to the heart of the earth for the 3 days and 3 nights. If this is the case then how do the words of Jesus spoken to the thief on the cross make sense? Luke 23:42-43 (NIV) “Then he said ‘Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.’ Jesus answered him, ‘I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.’” The point I am making here is that Jesus was in the heart of the earth for approximately 3 days, after that he walked the earth for a short time and then he was lifted up into the heaven. So if the reference to Paradise was Heaven. Then when Jesus said to the thief on the cross “that he would be in Paradise with him today” would have to be a contradiction because Jesus was in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights. The only way that both Scriptures can be explained without contradiction is to say that Paradise was also in the heart of the earth like Hell. Do you find this hard to believe? Doesn’t Luke 16:19-28 say the same thing? We just read earlier in those verses that when Lazarus died he went to Abraham’s side (or bosom) and the rich man went to hell. In hell the rich man looked up and could see Lazarus being comforted at Abraham’s side. But neither could cross over to the other side because of a huge chasm. Ephesians 4:9 (NIV) “This is why it says: ‘when He ascended on high, He led captives in His train and gave gifts to men’ (what does ‘He ascended’ mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regions? He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.” The focal point for the word ascended and descended is the earth itself. In verse 9 it says that He descended to the lower earthly regions. Hebrews 2:14 (NIV) “Since the children have flesh and blood, He too shared in their humanity so that by His death He might destroy him who holds the power of death – that is, the devil.” Revelation 1:18 (NIV) “When I saw Him, I fell at His feet as though dead. Then He placed His right hand on me and said: ‘Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and hades.” These Scriptures indicate that Jesus was dead and is now alive; He also has the keys of death and hell. We can see clearly that Jesus’ mission is to destroy the power that the devil had over death and hell. 1 Peter 3(NIV) “For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit, through whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water.” This Scripture says that Jesus preached to disobedient spirits in prison who died before the flood of Noah. Although I myself do not quite understand the full ramifications of this verse. It does make sense that when Jesus defeated death, he could have proclaimed His victory to the wicked spirits in Hell, in other words He heralded their soon coming judgment, and then of course He set the righteous spirits free to abide in Heaven. It doesn’t necessary mean that Jesus gave the wicked a second chance to repent as the New Testament Scriptures are quite blatant about the fact that you can only repent when you are alive. 1 Peter 4: 5-6 (NIV) “But they will have to give account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged according to men in regard to the body, but live according to God in regards to the Spirit.” This Scripture could relate to the above Scripture as they are only one chapter apart i.e. Jesus preached to the dead. This Scripture also seems to say that the Gospel was preached to the dead and they were given a chance at life, but it can also be interpreted to say that the disobedient who are dead actually heard the Gospel when they were alive, and the reference to the dead is to say that they were dead at the time of the scripture, i.e. now dead, but were actually alive when they heard the gospel. I have added these 2 verses as the relate to Jesus’ death and journey to the world of the dead, but I do repeat the statement I made earlier, and that is I do not understand the full ramifications of these 2 verses. Matthew 27: 50-52 (KJV) “Jesus, when He had cried again with a loud voice, yielded the ghost. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose. And came out of the graves after His resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many. ” After Jesus died many of the dead saints arose and walked the earth and appeared to many. This seems to suggest that Jesus freed the dead saints from sleep, so He probably went to the place of the dead and set them free. These saints would have been in Paradise, see Luke 16: 19-28 (quoted earlier). Remember that Jesus also rose from the dead and walked the earth before being taken up into Heaven. These saints of old that walked the earth probably were raised to Heaven as well. There is no suggestion in the Bible that these saints continued to live amongst mankind. The fact that the dead rose at the same time as Jesus resurrection is a fulfillment of what Jesus said would happen in John 5: 28-29 (NIV) “Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear His voice and come out – those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned.” Also 1 Thessalonians 4: 16-18 (NIV) “For the Lord himself will come down from Heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words.” Notice that the dead rise first, and at some stage all those believers who are still living will join the dead to meet the Lord. Jesus’ victory over death has enabled the saints, who have died to by-pass Hades and go to Heaven as He did, this was a result of the victory over the devil; who had the power of death. Jesus took the keys of death and hell from him, as we read earlier in Revelation 1:18. Today when the righteous die, they go straight to Heaven, but the wicked remain in the grave/hell until the great Day of Judgment. See Revelation 20: 11-14 (NIV) “Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death.” There is no record of the righteous in Heaven before Jesus death except for the Mount of Transfiguration where Elijah and Moses appeared with Jesus in heavenly glory. See Luke 9:29-31. But these 2 persons were exceptions. Elijah never saw death, he was taken up into Heaven while he was alive therefore by-passing the holding place where Abraham dwelt. See 2kings 2:11 “As were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went to Heaven in a whirlwind.” Moses was also an exception. Jude 1:9 says “But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation against him, but said, ‘The Lord rebuke you!’”. Here we see that Michael the Archangel and the devil fought over Moses’ body. Each probably having claim to why they could have it. The devil probably argued that it couldn’t be taken because he had the power over death at that stage. Needless to say it doesn’t say who won, but that fact that Moses appeared in glory next to Jesus side in the Mount of Transfiguration shows us the outcome of this dispute. Going on now we find the following Scriptures: Revelation 1:5 (NIV) “and from Jesus Christ, who is the first born from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood.” This Scripture points out that Jesus is the first born from the dead. This suggests that there must be other people born from the dead to follow. Matthew 27:50-52 above compliments this. Only the power of God can raise the dead and this is what it means to be Born Again. The power that raised Jesus from the dead will also raise all those who belong to God when they die. See 2 Corinthians 15: 22-28 (NIV) “For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. But each in his own turns: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when He comes, those who belong to Him. Then the end will come, when He hands over the kingdom to God the Father after He has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death. For He ‘has put everything under His feet.’ Now when it says that ‘everything’ has been put under Him, it is clear that this does not include God Himself, who put everything under Christ. When He has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to Him who puts everything under Him, so that God may be all in all.” This Scripture reveals a great mystery, that mystery being “all in Christ live”. First Jesus, the firstfruits, then those that belong to Jesus at His coming. Then the end will come when Jesus destroys all dominion and authority. The last enemy is death. This will result in God the Father being able to dwell in all. This fits in well with the teaching that Jesus went to Hell, so as to be victorious over Hell, and therefore destroying the One who had Power of death, namely the Devil. It makes sense that when Jesus died went to Hell and defeated death and took the keys of death and Hell from Satan who had the power of death. This victory means that Jesus defeated death in a bid to make all things subject to Him. Death was the last enemy that needed to be conquered and now Jesus has been exalted to the highest position in Heaven by God. This victory has enabled all those who belong to God to be raised from the dead with the same power. Jesus is waiting for all His enemies to be made His footstool at His feet. See Hebrews 1: 13 & Hebrews 10:12-14 “then He will give His kingdom to His Father that the Father may dwell in all.” A lot of the work that is left for the Church to complete includes preaching the Gospel of the kingdom of God to the entire world. Then the end shall come. Amen. PS. Did you know that Hell (i.e. Grave, Hades, Sheol) is not forever? This is because God is going to destroy the heavens (not that which God dwells) and Earth with fire after the Millennium. If He destroys the earth and Hell is inside the earth then Hell as dwelling place will also be destroyed. Checkout the 3 Scriptures below that confirms this: 2 Peter 3:7 (NIV) “By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the Day of Judgment and destruction of the ungodly men.” Revelation 21:1 (NIV) “Then I saw a new Heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.” Revelation 20:14 (KJV) “And death and Hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.”
KNOWLEDGE FOR BETTER UNDERSTANDING HELL is not Hades / Sheol ( Rev. 20:11-15) Hell (Lake of fire): is the permanent place for the wicked, while Hades / Geenna / or Sheol is the temporary place where the souls/spirits departed from life on earth are kept prior to the Day of judgment. Sheol/ Hades is a realm with two divisions: Matt. 11:23; Matt.16:18; Luke 10:15; Luke 16:23; Acts 2:27-31, the abodes of the righteous and the lost. Paradise = Abraham’s bosom = the abodes of the righteous. The abodes of the righteous and the lost are separated by a “great chasm”, Luke 16:26 Jesus when He died went to the Paradise side of the Hades (i.e. Abraham’s bosom) to take the righteous souls… Ephesians 4:8-10; 1 Peter 3:18-20. In Psalm 16:10-11, Hell is not the correct translation for this place Jesus went after death… “Today you will be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:43). This is the paradise side of Hades (Abraham’s bosom). Because on that day Jesus descended to …

Forum / Religion / Doctrine of Purgatory Extinguished by Grace |

| Doctrine of Purgatory Extinguished by Grace There's no such thing as free lunch. As a young man, I heard that cliche uttered countless times by the pragmatic adult regime. It seemed almost a taunt to a teenager who was growing fast and would have appreciated some free lunches. With that phrase, we "youngsters" learned that we have to work for what we want in life. We also learned that the firewood had better be chopped and stacked by lunchtime. In the divine plan that God has authored, this maxim still applies. There is a dire consequence to be paid for sin. Romans 6:23 starts out, "For the wages of sin is death..." This spiritual law is a constraint. It does not change. It is eternal, and immutable. However, in God's plan, a new element comes into play -- grace. My dictionary defines grace as "divine love and protection freely given". FREE ? ! Well, yes and no. Sin still requires penalty of death, but God's plan is complete in the rest of Romans 6:23 ".. but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord." The price for the lunch still had to be paid. Sin still required a death penalty. God loves us so much that Jesus offered himself up as the death sacrifice. He paid for our lunch. Never had i heard such an affront to the power and grace of God in the Roman Catholic doctrine of Purgatory. What God has freely given, man has spent thousands of years trying to earn. Why? Does he not trust God to deliver? In this article, we'll study the doctrine of purgatory, how the Catholic Church supports this doctrine, and we'll find out what the Bible has to say about it. Purgatory comes from the Latin word "purgare," which means to make clean, to purify. The Catholic Encyclopedia defines purgatory as, " a place or condition of temporal punishment for those who, departing this life in God's grace , are, not entirely free from venial faults, or have not fully paid the satisfaction due to their transgressions." 1. In other words, Catholics believe that purgatory is a place where we go after death to be cleansed and purified of our venial (minor) sins before we can be allowed into Heaven. In some traditions regarding purgatory, it is a place of purifying fire. Other traditions hold that there will be a process of purification, but the fire will be metaphorical as opposed to literal. In either case, this purifying fire is different from the fire of hell. The Cathechism of the Catholic Church states, " The Church gives the name Purgatory to this final purification of the elect, which is entirely different from the punishment of the dammned." 2. The doctrine of purgatory is based largely on Catholic tradition (post-biblical writings and oral history), and was formulated into a cohesive doctrine of the Church at the councils of Florence and Trent. 3. According to the Catholic Encyclopedia, " the council of Trent ( Sess. xiv, can.xi) reminds the faithful that God does not always remit the whole punishment due to sin together with the guilt. God requires satisfaction, and will punish sin... " 4. This portrayal of vengeful God seems to say that the grace of God was not sufficient to forgive all of our sins. Let us examine the supports given by the Catholic Church to buttress this doctrine. Returning to the Catholic Encyclopedia, we read, " For unrepented venial faults for the payment of temporal punishment due to sin at time of death, the Church has always thaught the doctrine of purgatory. So deep was this belief ingrained in our common humanity that it was accepted by the Jews, and in at least a shadow way by the pagans, long before the coming of Christianity. " 5. It seems incomprehensible to me to cite a pagan belief in the doctrine of purgatory as one of its defences. Furthermore, the author paints an overly broad stroke over the Jews by implying that all Jews accepted this belief. Throughout history, Jews and Christians have proven over and over again that man is inherently sinful. Disobedience to God by Jews and Gentiles alike is well documented in the Scripture. The test of a doctrine should not rest on how accepted it is or among other religious groups. Rather, we should look towards the Bible. With that, let's move on the Scriptural "Supports" that Catholics cite for the doctrine of purgatory. "The tradition of the Jews is put forth with precision and clearness in 2nd Maccabees." 6 The most clear scriptural reference in support of purgatory is from 2nd Maccabees. If this book does not sound farmiliar to you, perhaps it is because 2nd Maccabees is one of the books of apocrypha ( known to Catholics as the "Deoterocanonical Books"). The apocryphal books were not part of Jewish scripture, and not part of the Protestant Bible. The Jewish scribes discarded the apocrypha as scripture largely because of the sundry historical and chronological errors within. As God is not the author of error, He is obviously not the author of the apocrypha. The same issues that prevented the induction of the apocripha into Jewish scripture almost resulted in St. Jerome's refusal to translate them into the Vulgate. He objected to their inclution in scripture, but was overruled by the council at Nicea. These same issues are the reason that these same books were excluded from Protestant Bibles during the reformation. While Catholics rely on tradition in addition to the Bible, the Protestant reliance on the Scripture alone (a belief the Catholic Church refers to as sola scriptura) resulted in tighter constraints on what could be considered divinely inspired. That has not stopped Rome from attempting to find non-apocryphal biblical supports, though. " God forgave the incredulity of Moses and Aaron, but in punishment kept them from the "land of promise" (Numbers 20:12). The LORD took away the sin of David, but the life of the child was forfeited because David had made God's enemies blasphame His Holy Name (II Kings )." 7. The above statement is correct, but makes a poor support for purgatory. The punishment listed here were meted out during Moses', Aaron's, and David's earthly lives - not in some after life limbo. Additionally, the instances above occured during the dispensation (age) of the Law -- prior to the dispensation of grace that commenced with the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. A very common Bible verse cited by Catholics as a support for purgatory is Matthew 12:32, in which Jesus said, "And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him; but he that shall speak against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, nor in the world to come." The Catholic explanation of this passage holds that "the world to come" is purgatory. they contend that there is a purgatorial "world to come" in which sins not forgiving in "this world" may be forgiving (with the exception of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit). The Greek word "aion" is used in the Bible, most of its uses refer to an age, or period of time. In fact, our current word "eon" comes from this word. Most scholars agree that when Jesus mentioned "this world", He was referring to the age of the Law into which He was born. The "world to come" to which He referred, is the Church Age, or Age of Grace that began with his resurrection and continues today. To say that this verse alludes to purgatory is to make a huge stretch that simply does not match the facts. "Modern Protestants, while they avoid the name purgatory, frequently teach the doctrine of "the middle state," and Martensen ("Christian Dogmatics," Edinburgh, 1890, p.457)." 8. Here, they reference the work of Danish Episcopal Bishop Hans Martensen also had a proclivity for mysticism and theosophy, and therefore might not make the best withness to orthodoxy. Regardless of Martensen's personal theological beliefs , we have already stated that support of a doctrine by other groups or individuals is not an acceptable support. Furthermore, the broad stroke of the author's brush if far too broad in painting Protestant beliefs on this issue. He would have been more accurate to say that SOME modern Protestants believe in a middle state. Now that we have examined the Catholic supports for purgatory, Let us turn to the Bible to examine what the Word of God says on the matter... I will list several portions of Scripture consecutively before making any additional comment. 1 Corinthians 6: 10-11 "... nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God." [emphasis added] Romans 8: 1-4 "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Jesus law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. For what sin was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so He condemned sin in sinful man, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit." Ephesians 2:4-10 "But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive in Christ even when we were dead in transgressions - it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages He might show the incomparable riches of His grace, expressed in His kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through Faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no man can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." [emphasis added] Colossians 1: 21-23 "Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now He has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in His sight, without blemish and free from accusation -- if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the Gospel." [emphases added] Romans 3: 21-28 "But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophet testify. This righteousness of God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in His blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in His forbearance He had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished -- He did it to demonstrate His justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. Where, then, is boasting ? It is excluded. On what principle ? On that of observing the law ? No, but on that of faith. For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law." [emphasis added] We have seen a common theme there. We've read words like "justified", "sanctified", " and "made holy". In Catholic practice, justification is achieved through adherance to the seven sacraments. Yet we've just read that we are all justified by grace through our faith in the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ. We've also read that due to Christ's atoning sacrifice, God seeks no further punishment for those who have accepted that free gift. Perhaps nowhere else in the Bible is the doctrine of purgatory more heavily refuted than in the following passage: Hebrews 10 : 8-18 "First He [Jesus] said, ' Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them' (although the law required them to be made). Then He said, ' Here I am, I have come to do your will.' He set aside the first to establish the second. And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, He sat down at the right hand of God. Since that time He waits for His enemies to be made His footstool, because by one sacrifice He has made perfect forever those who are being made holy. The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First He says: 'This is the convenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.' Then He adds: 'Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.' And where these have been forgiven, there is no longer any sacrifice for sin." [emphasis added] What a wonderful assurance! Because of the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ, we have been forgiven, there is no longer any sacrifice required. That is what purgatory is all about an additional sacrifice for venial sins. To say that purgatory is all about -- an additional sacrifice for venial sins. To say that purgatory is a necessary purification is to deny that the grace of God is sufficient. What a tremendous blessing to us that God has shown His unbounded love for us through His grace! 1 John 1 : 9, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." In 2 Corinthians 12 : 9, Paul said that Christ's grace was sufficient for him. Indeed, Christ's grace is sufficient for us all. Praise God! | Catholics are thought that by praying to Mary, she can take the petition to her son Jesus; and since she is his mother, he will answer the request for her sake, especially because of the miracle of turning water to wine in a wedding occassion in Canan-Galilee; Jesus' first miracle initiated by Mary. There is even a slogan in the church that says: "To Jesus through Mary". The inference is that Mary is more compationate, understanding, and merciful than her son Jesus. Certainly this is contrary to the Scriptures! One noted Roman Catholic writer, Alphonsus Liguori, wrote at length telling how much more effectual prayers are, that are addressed to Mary rather than to Christ. (Liguori, incidentaly was canonized as a "Saint" by Pope Gregory XIV in 1839 and was declared a "doctor" of the Catholic Church by Pope Pius IX). In one portion of his writings, he described an imaginary scene in which a sinful man saw two ladders hanging from Heaven. Mary at the top of one; Jesus at the top of the other. When the sinner tried to climb the one ladder, he saw the angry face of Christ and fell defeated. But when he climbed Mary's ladder, he ascended easily and was openly welcomed by Mary who brought him into Heaven and presented him to Christ! Then all was well. The same writer said that the sinner who ventures to come directly to Christ may come with dread of his wrath. But if he will pray to the Virgin, she will only have to "show" that son "the Bosom that gave him suck" and his wrath will be immediately appeased! Ref.: Hislop, The Two Babylons, p.158. Such reasoning is in direct conflict with a Scriptural example: "Blessed is the womb that bare thee", a woman said to Jesus, "and the paps which thou hast sucked." But Jesus answered, "Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the Word of God, and keep it" (Luke 11:27,28). As far as the Word of God is concerned about prayers, He never made any emphatic statement saying believers can approach Him through any person. Be it Mary, the dead Saints, even the Angels. For Jesus in this sense will not share His glory neither with any man nor angel. But to confidently come to Him directly. The following Scriptures supports this: John 14:6; Acts 4:12; Romans 8:34; Hebrews 4:16; Hebrews 7:22-28; 1Timothy 2:5, to mention but few... So brethren, take away all unholy sentiments and embrase the Word of God rather than the doctrines of man. May we all rest in the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen!

| I believe you brother... People needs to know about this truth... This days most believers listens to General Overseers, Pope, Pastors, Rev. Fathers, etc without checking them out in the Scriptures to know if they true doctrines or false. This is why we have lots of demonic doctrines today. May the good Lord have mercy on us! | | |

| I'll advice you not to be decieved by that doctrine of Mary's assumption to heaven n thinking that chapter of the book of Revelatn was refering to her. Advice again! Go and read the full chapter of that book very well n you'll end up seeing that that was not mary but the Church that gave birth to believers... | | |

| My brother, do not be confused with Christian belief that Jesus is God. It is not a mere man opinion that He is God, but a revelation that is proven by the Holy Scripture-the Holy Bible. You, i guess you re a Muslim n i know that ur belief is form the Quran. Likewise the Christians believe whatever the Bibles us. Now if you care to know, there re so many passages in the Bible that proves Jesus to be God incarnate-God that became man so as to make man know God. For example, John chapter1 vs 1 say: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God"(NIV). Now i want you to take note of the following: the Word existing ever b4 time began, and "the Word was God". Now how did Christians know that the Word is Jesus Christ? John chapter1 vs 14 says: "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us..." You can see that the Word who is God, became flesh-Jesus Christ and dwelt among men. For more knowledge on this topic, you can read the following passages if you care: John1vs1-14, John 10vs30,33&38, Luke5vs20-21, Luke4vs34, Isaiah9vs6&7, Philipians2vs5-6, to mention but few. However brother, the things of God is not about logical reasoning but theological. The things of God is not meant to be argued, but to be believed... So, my brother when you want to be reasoning these things, you will end up getting crazy. Conclusively, we Christians also believe that God is one but manifested in three personalities as a result of the work of salvation to mankind. God the Father sending His Son Jesus to save mankind and Jesus sending the Holy Spirit to empower and sanctify believers for holy living... Please brother, i will advice you not to get confused but believe in Jesus!
