Nigeria police force has always proof that its worst level of incompitence is yet to be seen, in this modern age of cellular? why did they deny at first, anyway, that does not matter, what matters is that the ve accepted being there on time to stop the barbarism but failed due to their incompitence, no excuse or insurficient excuse for failure, supposedly there should be a random querry from the commissioner to the divisional chiefs, and more so a severe punishment for the men on duty (in affected area) that day to serve as a warning to others who may exhibit such level of negligence on duty in future
