Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / South East Nigeria to be in darkness for 2 days |
on: 25-01-2013 07:32 AM
| The five eastern states including Benue are to be in total darkness for 48 hours this weekend, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced. The outage is to enable the TCN complete the final works on the new double circuit 330KV transmission line from Benin Edo state to Onitsha in Anambra State. The six affected states are Abia, Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, Imo and Benue. While regretting the inconvenience to electricity consumers in the areas, the statement by the TCN Assistant General Manager, Public Affairs, Dave Ifabiyi said “the crucial final connection works (is) to be carried out by its (TCN) contractors, having completed the stringing of 330kV double circuit transmission line across River Niger. It is aimed at enhancing the transmission capacity in the area and improve grid power delivery and reliability nationwide.” The Presidential Task Force on Power (PTFP) in a separate statement said it was working with the TCN to ensure that “scheduled power outage… will be as seamless as possible.” Another contractor, MBH Power will also carry out pre-commissioning tests during this period, it said. Chairman of the task force, Engr. Becks Dagogo-Jack, said “the benefits of energising the long-awaited 3rd Benin Onitsha Line amply justifies the regrettable inconvenience of two days which shall be limited to the Eastern states and part of Benue State. http://www.freshgist.com/south-east-darkness-2-days/ | | |

Forum / The Buzz Central / Man of God Caught In Bed with Neighbour’s Wife |
on: 12-12-2012 12:01 PM
| A youthful clergyman is nursing injuries at a hospital in Kakamega after he was badly injured by an angry husband who caught him red handed in a compromising manner with his wife. The two had come from an evening service from the church when the woman, who is the youth leader in the church, invited the pastor to her house for a cup of tea. The ‘cup of tea’ extended into the late hours of the night and as the husband stays in a nearby town, the good pastor was tempted to spend the night. Unknown to them, however, word had already reached the husband that his house had been turned into a ‘brothel’. Fury The husband came home on that night raging with fury and ready to devour whomever he found in his house, even if it was his blood brother. He arrived at around 11pm and noted that the front door was locked. Luckily, he had spare keys for the back door. As he was getting into the house, the two sensed danger and the preacher ran out through the front door and sprinted to his house, which is in the neighbourhood, half unclad. The angry man did not give up. He followed the preacher into his house and fished him out with the help of his brothers who had had been attracted by the commotion. “When we caught him, he couldn’t say anything in his defense as even his wife was still crying at the mistreatment and shame he had exposed her to,” one of the brothers said. Odd hours The pastor, a father of two, for obvious reasons, remained mum when he was asked what he was doing in another man’s bed in the odd hours of the night. His silence enraged the cuckolded man and his brothers into beating him senseless with kicks, bows and sticks. http://nigerianewsvilla.com/man-of-god-caught-in-bed-with-neighbours-wife/ | | |

Forum / The Buzz Central / Outrage as 85-yr-old man allegedly rapes 12-yr-old girl |
on: 29-11-2012 12:21 PM
| THERE is outrage in Okesa area of Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, following allegations that an 85-year old man, Pa Samuel Oladipupo, allegedly raped a 12-year old girl identified simply as Esther. Oladipupo, who is now being detained by the Ekiti State police command at the command headquarters in Ado Ekiti, told newsmen in Ado Ekiti, on Tuesday, that he did not rape the girl, but that he attempted to have sex with her with her consent after he was seduced. According to the octogenarian, he sent the JSS 1 student to buy recharge card for him, adding that she had helped him to enter the credit digits into his mobile handset at his home, and left. He claimed further that “she came back and said she came to tell me that she was hungry.” After a meal of bread and stew, Oladipupo claimed further, “She relaxed in the upholstery chair and took off all her dresses.” As a man, I began to lose control. But I’ve collected that it could be a plan to frame me an d I quickly stood up. So, I didn’t enter her.” But the girl countered Pa Oladipupo’s statement, saying she did not seduce him but that it was the man that grabbed her. According to her, she had gone to mend her school sandal when Pa Oladipupo she had earlier helped to buy a recharge card, called her and accused her of stealing his mobile handset. “When I told him I didn’t steal his phone, he then asked me to accompany him to his sitting room where we found the phone on the television and he apologised. As I made to go, Baba grabbed me and pushed me onto the couch and forcefully had sex with me. The loud noise I made attracted one woman who came to my rescue and took me to my mother.” http://www.nigerianewsvilla.com/an-85-yr-old-man-allegedly-rapes-12-yr-old-girl/ | | |

Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / 13-year-old girl narrates how she escaped from ritualists |
on: 22-10-2012 10:32 AM
| When Emmanuela, 13, a JSS student of Shadoff Secondary school, Igbogbo, set out on that fateful day for her usual Thursdays fellowship and faith clinic service at a church, little did she know that it was going to be the most horrifying experience of her life as a teenager. But by divine intervention, Emmanuela returned to tell the grueling story of her kidnapp and how she was slated for rituals before God set her free. But other ten passengers could not live to tell their stories. According to her, “I entered the bus from Igbogbo around 7pm. I was going to my church for our Thursday vigil. When I entered the bus, I noticed that all the passengers in the bus were sleeping. They were about ten. I felt something was wrong and I quickly told the driver to stop for me that I had forgotten my transport fare at home. The conductor then said that I should not worry that he would not collect money from me. I insisted I would get down, shouting that I was going to church and I would not be able to come back home even if he did not collect money from me. But he refused. As we were arguing on that, the conductor immediately brought out a handkerchief and waved it on my face and that was the last thing I remembered. “I then saw myself at a shrine with other victims. The following day at the shrine, they began to kill others with knife and machete one after the other. Although we were blindfolded, yet, I was able to see a bit of what was going on. They decided Sunday would be my turn when they would conclude their rituals.” “We were there without food or water, and when it got to my turn on Sunday, I was taken to the shrine again along with the remaining two. But I heard one of them saying ‘no, they should return me back to where they picked me. We were three left out of about eleven people.” http://www.nigerianewsvilla.com/13-year-old-girl-narrates-how-she-escaped-from-ritualists/ | | |

Forum / Sports / Keshi eyes Ameobi and Anichebe for Nations Cup |
on: 17-10-2012 10:53 AM
| Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi says he will give striker Shola Ameobi a chance to represent his country of birth at the 2013 African Cup of Nations. The Newcastle striker has played for England Under-21s but has not featured for the senior team and was cleared by Fifa in November to switch nationality. Super Eagles Head Coach, Stephen Keshi with Home Based Super Eagles at a News Conference And Keshi is eager to persuade the 31-year-old to be part of his plans. “Shola is a good striker and he has a chance to be on the plane to South Africa,” Keshi told BBC Sport. “I’ve been watching him closely and he’s got something unique. He will definitely bring something different to the attack. “I have Shola and [Everton striker] Victor Anichebe in my striking plans. “I will give them, Obinna Nsofor, Obafemi Martins, Chinedu Obasi and others a chance to fight for a place alongside other strikers.” Keshi’s side qualified for next year’s Nations Cup after beating Liberia 6-1 on Saturday to record an aggregate 8-3 win. And the coach is clearly intent on optimising the Super Eagles’ chances of success by trying once more to get Ameobi on board. Ameobi, who was born in Zaria, northern Nigeria, before moving to England with his parents at the age of five, was first called up by Nigeria 11 years ago but rejected the chance to play for them. http://www.nigerianewsvilla.com/shola-ameobi-victor-anichebe-on-eagles-plan/ | | |
