2  Forum / The Buzz Central / Duncan Mighty is Bitter, Says Gov Amaechi is Allegedly Owing him N50million, Wri on: 2-06-2014 08:33 AM

Received this mail from Duncan's people....

CALL TO GOVERNOR AMAECHI TO PAY ME FOR SERVICES RENDERED TO HIM AND HIS GOVERNMENT. FRIENDS NOW CALL ME A TRAITOR/SABOTUER………DUNCAN MIGHTY.
It is on record that on the 30th of March 2011, I, Mr. Okechukwu Duncan Mighty single handedly organized a Celebrity Youth Endorsement Concert in Port Harcourt where I successfully endorsed over 18,000 youths who are eligible voters for the Governor Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
During the organization of the event under the express approval of the Governor of Rivers State and his cabinet, he gave me the sum of Ten Million Naira through the then Secretary to the state Govt. Senator Magnus Abe which totally went into the project. The Governor also gave me his word that the balance of Fifty Million Naira will be paid to me as soon as possible.
In pursuit of the said project, I thereafter raised funds through different sources including personal savings, loans and credit facilities, acquired operational vehicles and branded them for the project, procured several souvenirs, printed many publicity materials, paid for venues, engaged musicians from different parts of the country, undertook logistics such as flight/Accommodation/Transportation and welfare.
The event featured the following A List artistes, comedians and many collection of Port Harcourt Artistes:
Wande Coal and the Mo. Hits Records crew
Flavour
Banky W
M.I
Ice Prince
Timaya
Stereo Man
Terry G
Jesse Jags
Dj Jimmyjatt
I go die
I go save And lots more.
The project was concluded as scheduled and the results were achieved, but since then it has become almost impossible to have an audience with the Governor so as to get my balance.
I also visited the Govt House on several occasions, and all efforts to get my money proved abortive.
However, the last straw that broke the camel's back was when the governor systematically started avoiding my calls and personal visits in a bid to deprive me of the balance of the money for a job which I successfully executed.
It is also on record that I have not charged the Rivers State Government a single dime of my professional appearance fee, due to my personal reason/resolve to give back to the society which made me, starting from the government of Rivers State as a mark of honor and respect.
The rumor mills have it that the Governor of Rivers state has given me juicy contracts including all manner of flashy cars, but I stand here today to debunk such tales, because I have not received as much as a bicycle spoke from Governor Amaechi.
My love for the Ikwerre ethnic nationality, the Niger Delta project and the Nigerian dream has seen me working for virtually everything I own today because there is dignity in labour, hence I can never resort to cheap blackmail or character assassination of any person, group or association, therefore I stand to make this declaration that all I am asking for is the payment of my money, thus, this should not be seen as a political campaign of any sort.
Permit me to bring to your notice, the fact that many of his personal aids and security details have come to me severally, soliciting for financial assistance which I usually offered them without any hesitation, not knowing that they all have the notion that their boss, Governor Amaechi has been favoring me through contracts, meanwhile this is not also true.
I have tried frantically on several occasions to meet with the Governor one on one so as to resolve this issue but all to no avail.
Most recently I was invited to a dinner between the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) and the Governor of Rivers State, immediately after my performance at the said event inside government house I ran after the Governor to demand for my money in my usual way, but to my utmost bewilderment the Governor unequivocally told me point blank that I should remember that when we did that transaction he was still working with his former chief of staff, Hon. Nyesom Wike who is now the current minister of state for education. This is exactly what prompted me to take this decision of writing this article in other to recover the money which I worked to earn.
This issue also led to the problem that transpired on Friday the 23rd of may 2014 when I got to the government house gate at 8am, one of the security details named Mr. Jude rudely ordered me to park my car outside the gate, a situation which led to a scuffle and heated argument between me and the said security officer, as a result of this I subsequently held a meeting with my staff on the way forward concerning this same issue after which we agreed that we should channel the ongoing matter through the office of the chief press secretary to the governor Mr. David Iyofor, this we did and the cps after hearing the story promised to help contact the governor who happens to be his boss, but to my chagrin the chief press secretary rather stopped taking my calls up till this moment.
Prior to this time I have not played any event for the commissioners and other cabinet members due to the fact that the they thought they couldn't afford to pay my appearance fee because I was the governors favorite hence will be unaffordable to them, a predicament that I have also managed to live with, while my friends, family members, staff and fans have all concluded that I have betrayed them by going behind to collect huge sums of money for events at the government house without giving them their own right, whereas I have also not charged the Rivers State government my usual professional appearance fee on events, the present chief of staff to river state government Mr Tony Okocha and Senator Magnus Abe are my witness on this.
Meanwhile due to the multi-lingual nature of Rivers State as a result of different ethnic nationalities, I decided to record a song which I titled PORT HARCOURT BOY where I mentioned the names of various prominent men who have made their mark at one point or the other, even people from other states who lived and did their business in Port harcourt as a way of promoting and uniting the state.
Shortly afterwards the general public started saying that governor Amaechi has been the one behind my career success claiming that he bought me all manner of flashy cars and pays me huge amount of money regularly, meanwhile since I finished the project for the governor he virtually declined paying me the outstanding balance as agreed upon our transaction.
It is also a known fact that before amnesty was given DUNCAN MIGHTY was the first artiste in the entire Niger Delta to embrace the creeks all over the country, using my music to promote peace in the region, encouraging the youths to shun cultism, youth restiveness and other social vices.
The entire entertainment industry within the Niger Delta region actually believed that I was constantly favored by the governor hence they all came to me in 2011 pleading with me to become the chapter president of performing musicians association of Nigeria (PMAN) a move which I constantly rejected so that I can concentrate on my career. All this while God has been my source of inspiration and survival my pillar of strength and protection.
It was also rumored that I was appointed a member of Rivers State carnival committee, and due to their secret nature of meeting and deliberating on carnival issues, my fellow artistes constantly accused me of not caring them along, an accusation which I've always struggled to debunk till date.
Moreover, my passion for going all the way to contribute my quota to the development of the entertainment industry in the Niger Delta and Nigeria as a whole was born out of genuine interest, love and previous roles as a professional audio engineer who has worked for many international brands at different capacities.
More also, I need to clear the air on this issue which made a lot of artiste who I was owing some outstanding balance to call me a traitor, saboteur, saying that I have betrayed them by refusing to pay them when in the actual sense I have not received further payment from the Governor, because I didn't want any further trouble arising from this issue, I had to pay them out of my pocket from my own funds.
Once more, I will like to state that this has nothing to do with party politics, I am seriously appealing to everyone who know Gov Amaechi to tell him to pay me my money in the name of GOD.

3  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Revealed: The Popular Prophet Who Sleeps In Coffins In Lagos on: 2-06-2014 08:22 AM

Prophet Pa Samuel Olawale (a.k.a Kogberegbe) sleeps inside coffin and in the grave preaching the gospel. It is one story that will indeed shock you and expose you to things going on that you are not aware of.

Conspicuously displayed on this Mountain of Prayer is a big van with the inscription:
"The Holy Michael Church of The Lord (Aladura) Cherubim and Seraphim, Preacher Prophet S.O. Olawale (a.ka. Kogberegbe).”

In the said van is a big white-creamy painted coffin covered with a black cloth having the following words:
‘THIS IS THE END OF YOUR LIFE AND YOUR POST’ inscribed on it, all in capital letters!

Fear will normally envelope most people seeing for the first time a coffin draped with black cloth and a grave dug by the altar . This is, however, a familiar sight to the congregation of this church. They've grown used to it.

What is the connection between an empty coffin and the church? Why should there be a grave by the altar?

Speaking to The Nation on why he keeps both strange and curious objects, the spiritual leader and founder, Pa Samuel Olawale, who is in his 80s, declared ” Yes, it is true that I have a coffin covered with a black cloth in the church , it is in a big van .Not only this, I have a big hole dug by the altar. You can go and see it, take the picture .But for the grave or the hole, it is by the altar. And next time, I will open it for you while I am there .The two strange objects are pregnant with meanings .I have reasons why I am keeping them there.”

While preachers , evangelists and men of God go out preaching with the Holy Bible, asking sinners to repent , Pa Samuel Olawale ( a.k.a Kogberegbe) goes out not only with the Holy Bible but always ‘armed’ with an empty coffin , a bell in his hand, preaching to sinners to repent and come to God.
He said: ” Yes it is true that I am carrying the coffin about while preaching and what I am trying to point out is that no matter how wealthy you are you will not leave this world with these money , it all ends here .You will not go into the grave with your wealth or with money , be you a civil servant who stole money , be you an armed robber, be you a landlord or a caretaker, your money and wealth ends here the moment you are dead.”

He continued: “Any time I go out, I would at times sleep in the coffin, telling everybody that that is how we will end .Yes, we should remember this. If you are buried with expensive coffin, clothes and jewelleries, all will be stolen from you in the night and your carcass will be left. To me, life has no meaning until we come to God. Things are going wrong in this world and we should mend our ways.”

Kogberegbe added: “Yes, I even sleep there (in the coffin and the grave) at times too, to let us know that we will all end up in the grave!”

On whether people read different meanings to it , he replied: “Oh no, no, they all know that we are preaching the word of God. It is just to let us all know that there is nothing in this life. This is an ephemeral world, the grave is for prayer and we open it every year while praying on the mountain.”

On what it is in the grave, the old man said, “Nothing , it is empty, nothing .”

When this reporter requested to see the coffin and the grave, the old man did not hesitate as he called one of his disciples, Joshua Samuel, to take him there.

Road to the mountainThe road to the church’s mountain is about three kilometres from the residence. It is along Ikotun/Ejigbo Road. The big church is located in a compound on the expansive mountain.

On the mountain is also a vehicle, and inside it is an object covered with a black cloth. The reporter asked the guide, Samue,l to open it. The guide first of all screamed, “Holy Jah!,” and prayed. He then removed the cover for this reporter to see the cream – coloured coffin with the words: ‘THIS IS THE END OF YOUR LIFE AND YOUR POST’ inscribed on it. And after the reporter had taken some shots of photographs, the guide again thanked Jah for His mercies and then covered it again.

According to the guide, Kogberegbe is a bold man who is a man of God worshipping God Almighty. He said while evangelising with the bus, they carry the coffin about and would stop once in a while to bring out the coffin. In his words, “We carry the coffin from the vehicle; it is normal coffin .We are about four people who carry it while I would be in my church warrior soutane dress.”

Asked to comment on the motive behind it, he said: “Baba is trying to show the world that at the end of everybody in this world, irrespective of his status, whether you are rich or poor , whether you are a witch or wizard, whether you have children or childless, whether you are a tenant or landlord, this is how and where we will all end .Baba would with a bell in his hand sleep in the coffin in the public and be shouting on top of his voice to everybody to come and see how everybody would end. It is a big lesson for us all, and it is very interesting. It is time we should all change from our bad behaviours and turn to Christ”

Encounters with the evil spirit
Kogberegbe also spoke to this reporter about his encounters with the evil spirit. He said “I remember that we used to trek from Somolu to this mountain several years ago. We faced many challenges. I can remember when on a midnight as myself and two kids were going to the mountain, we got to the base of an Araba tree (mighty tree), we saw a strange light that beckoned at us from the tree top and we heard the voice that said ‘This stupid boy (Kogberegbe) has come to disturb us again.’ But trust my God, nothing happened to me. I prayed and the tree got dried up .It is God’s work. The evil spirit attempted to stop me from worshipping God , but no evil spirit had the power. Again, at Ojuwoye, they (evil spirits) fought us, and again I commanded the tree to dry up and it happened. It is the work of God. Only God knows what havoc the tree could have caused. You know a man with swollen scrotum cannot be a goalkeeper. And it is God’s work, not of mine.”

Who is Kogberegbe?
Call him a stubborn agitator. Label him a non conformist; he is a different person entirely from many other preachers. No wonder he is nicknamed Kogberegbe (A no nonsense man). He said “My name is Samuel Olawale. When God called me, people started calling me Kogberegbe, meaning a man who does not tolerate nonsense.”

He speaks with authority, and his congregants listen with rapt attention. In his living room, he conducts services and counsels those who come for counselling and prays for them too. There are portraits of Jesus Christ and of some Saints hung on the walls. In his living room are big rubber drums of water which he prays on to become ‘holy water’ and this he gives to people to heal them of their ailments.

He prays for people who come to him for prayer. His voice is heard as he prays. People of all status mill around him for prayer. Whenever he is praised that his prayer works, he would tell you that it is not his handwork but God’s.

Immediately he was told that he had a visitor from the press, he humbly left the congregation to attend to this reporter. He is loved for his humility, passion for mankind. One thing he is noted for is that he does not tolerate nonsense in his church. In fact, he is treated as a king as his followers and other people kneel down to talk to him.

A disciplinarian to the core, in the presence of this reporter, Kogberegbe acted out his name as he scolded one of his followers for removing his soutane and going to another place when the service was still on. He admonished him for not respecting God.

Genesis of his life
He told The Nation that: “I have been in evangelisation since 1957 when I was called and started it .It is God that called me. I was once a police officer but that was a long time ago. If God wanted to call you , he will do so immediately and you will not steal, will not take another man’s wife, will not be dubious. You must not tell lies because you want to be rich. Many become prophets because of money. Most of you who are practicing journalism are fraudsters. People are afraid to walk in the night. Many of you reporters are fake and go about taking pictures, interviewing people about and collecting money.”

He spoke about the Boko Haram: “Now there is the problem of Boko Haram, and you don’t know those praying for the country. Many of the prophets are doing that silently. Those pastors and prophets using human blood for many things are devilish and will go to hell fire. But God knows the truthful ones. Well, only God knows who is worshiping Him. Today, the prophets and pastors are doing what they like. But I love the Catholic, who suffer a lot and they are doing well. The Pentecostal Church is trying their best too.”

But he added, "He (God) said it is not those who called me God, God that will come to His Kingdom. It is not all of us prophets, pastors, men of God that would go to heaven."

5  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Open Letter to the APC leadership: Rescuing Nigeria from PDP’s Misguided Vision on: 2-06-2014 08:03 AM

After 15 years of uninterrupted democracy, it is important on this august occasion of May 29, 2014, to write this special letter on how to rescue our dear nation from the hands of unprepared and clueless leadership piloting the affairs of our nation at the moment which, if not checked, may collapse this country in line with earlier predictions by United States of America, and other prophets of doom.

In this regard, I write this open letter to the leaders of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), through the following indefatigable leaders of our party: Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, Gen Muhammadu Buhari, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, Senator Bukola Saraki, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu and Owelle Rochas Okorocha.

This letter is addressed to you G7 based on your individual merits and most outstanding leadership roles each of you played in what APC is today. Of the major characters within our party you G7 were selected for this letter. But for avoidance of doubt, His Excellency Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, apart from leading the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) to the amalgamation, is the national leader of the party and cannot be ignored in this type of letter because the part he played in what APC is today can’t be over-emphasised...

Same goes for His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari, who led the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) to the party, while Ogbonnaya Onu led the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP). The importance of Atiku Abubakar in the party, being one of the leading lights, is very obvious. Bukola Saraki leads the National Assembly caucus; Amaechi is the chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum while Owelle Rochas Okorocha leads the APC Governors’ Forum.

The fact remains that Nigeria is currently at the cross road, confused and not knowing what tomorrow portends, occasioned by the visionless and misguided leadership of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the centre. Today, we have a government that cannot protect or guarantee our security as contained in our constitution. According to Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka, “This is a government which is not only in denial mentality, but in denial about certain obvious steps to take... It's one of those rather child-like situations that if you shut your eyes, if you don't exhibit the tactile evidence of the missing humanity here, that somehow the problem will go away” - A Government that have succeeded in making us a mockery before the international community and African leaders, which major achievements are trumatising, transforming Nigeria into darkness and digitalizing corruption to such a level where a whopping sum of $10 million can be said to have developed wings and unaccounted for. A government where a minister spends a whopping sum of $10 million on hiring of planes for movements, both private and official, while Nigerians are wallowing in poverty. It is based on this unacceptable state and the fear of the future of our country that makes this letter imperative.

Apart from the above, I was motivated to alert the leadership of APC through this medium as I may not be privileged to attend the caucus or NEC meeting, where crucial issues affecting the future of the party shall be tabled and discussed. Besides, as a stakeholder in the project Nigeria and having played a great role as National Publicity Secretary of the nPDP, a major component of the present APC, I am stimulated not only by my patriotic consideration but encouraged by John F. Kennedy, one of the greatest presidents of America, who said: "Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future." No doubt in this crucial time of our history, PDP has messed up our country. The party has deviated from the democratic path it was founded on and has become a mockery of democratic principles. If some patriotic Nigerians do not rally around each other to ease out this party come 2015, then it will be an understatement to say that Nigeria is doomed and has no future under PDP after 2015. But God forbid!

I am also aware that it was because of the visionless leadership of PDP that brought up the amalgamation of other opposition political parties to form what is today known as the All Progressives Congress. As I commend and congratulate all the people and forces behind the formation of this great party, let me state that if Nigeria is not rescued from the maladministration of PDP come 2015, to some of us, all the efforts in forming APC would have become an exercise in futility.

For leading Nigeria to its present comatose state, one cannot be far from the truth if one says that President Goodluck Jonathan is a colossal failure in terms of his leadership of our nation. This view is shared by many Nigerians and some key actors of world politics.

For example, Dr Peregrino Brimah, after the Jos bombings of Tuesday, May 20, 2014 which claimed more than 200 lives, according to latest counts, have pushed Nigeria to formally occupy the first position in the ranking of nations with the worst governments in history.

He went further to present other criteria which recently moved Nigeria up the list as follows:
A recent World Bank report listed Nigeria among the five poorest countries in the world. A report from the World Bank in April listed Nigeria among the five poorest countries in the world, with the largest number of people said to live on less than $1.25 a day. The others are India, China, Bangladesh and the Democratic Republic of Congo. President Jonathan instead of addressing the issue on poverty as raised casually dismissed the report by saying: Nigeria is not a poor country.

The rebasing of Nigeria’s economy, setting Nigeria as the largest economy in Africa, while revealing the true economic position of Africa’s largest nation, simultaneously re-certified Nigeria as the nation in the top position for worst leadership in social welfare and opportunities for the people. With 70 per cent of the nation living under a-dollar-a-day, economically factored, Nigeria has the poorest people of any nation in the world today. With the rebased economy rating, Nigeria has the most unparalleled HDI (Human Development Index) to revenue and economy ratio of all nations. Poorest people in the Nigeria case, is derived from or correlates with poorest leadership.

Is it not surprising that Nigeria, at the end of 2013, surpassed Mexico in kidnapping, recording the cruelest and second highest single abduction events in recent history. By the end of 2013 and the first quarter of 2014, Nigeria surpassed Syria, Libya, Iraq and Central African Republic (CAR) in deadly acts of terrorism and sectarian violence. The Nyanya bombing was ranked the fifth worst bombing of its kind in world history, post 1970, by the Mineta Transportation Institute (MTI). The Jos bombing, with over 200 reported dead in one attack, is second only to 9/11 and the disputed Syria chemical weapons attack.

In combined values, with about 80,000 people killed in four years of largely unchecked Boko Haram violence, and with over 4,000 killed in the first quarter of 2014 alone, Nigeria has fast outpaced other nations of the world in deadly terror. Nigeria’s leadership in December of 2013 secured the world’s top position in insecurity and failure to protect life and discourage terror. Current rankings put Nigeria’s leadership second only to Hitler, after surpassing Saddam Hussein, in the current century, in terms of deliberate internal wastage of life.”

With Nigeria’s leadership admitting that they could not account for up to or more than $20 billion oil revenue earnings discovered missing in a single 18-month period examined; the nation’s finance minister admitting this to BBC and the official government engagement of Price Waterhouse, an international accounting firm, which further confirmed this financial mishap, Nigeria secured its position as the most haplessly and a ver unserious nation.

According to Mrs. Hillary Clinton, former U.S. Secretary of State, in separate events in New York City, said the Nigerian government under President Goodluck Jonathan squandered its oil resources, and indirectly helps corruption to fester in the troubled country. Her words: “They have squandered their oil wealth; they have allowed corruption to fester, and now they are losing control of parts of their (own) territory because they would not make hard choices.”

The former U.S. Secretary of State at the function organised by the International Crisis Group also emphasized that: “The Nigerian government has failed to confront the threat, or to address the underlying challenges. Most of all, the government of Nigeria needs to get serious about protecting all of its citizens, and ensuring that every child has the right and opportunity to go to school.”
While to Sarah Saawall, US Under Secretary of State, “Corruption prevents supplies as basic as bullets and transport vehicles from reaching the front lines of the struggle against Boko Haram”.

A new report on global life expectancy by the World Health Organisation has rated Nigeria low in its report titled “World Health Statistics 2014” and published few days ago, life expectancy for both men and women is less than 55 years in nine sub-Saharan African countries namely: Nigeria, Angola, Central Africa Republic, Chad, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Lesotho, Mozambique and Sierra Leone. The yearly report is the definitive source of information on the health of the world’s people. It contains data from 194 countries on a range of mortality, disease and health system indicators, including life expectancy, illnesses and deaths from key diseases, health services and treatments, financial investment in health, as well as risk factors and behaviours that affect health.

General Olusegun Obasanjo, Nigeria former President in his assessment of Jonathan's performance in office posited: “I don’t believe he has performed to the expectations of many Nigerians, not just me.” While US Senator John McCain in his view feels that we don’t even have a government in the right sense, “We shouldn't have waited for a practically non-existent government to give us the go ahead before mounting a humanitarian effort to rescue those girls”

“Mr. Jonathan, who leads a corrupt government that has little credibility, initially played down the group's threat and claimed security forces were in control. It wasn't until Sunday, more than two weeks after the kidnappings, that he called a meeting of government officials - New York Times.

The Economist, writing under the Editorial 'A Clueless Government described the PDP Government in Nigeria, 'perhaps the worst aspect of the Nigerian Government's handling of the abduction is its seeming indifference to the plight of the girls' families. It took more than two weeks before Mr. Jonathan addressed the matter in public. His government's sluggish response and its failure even to clarify how many girls had been abducted provoked protests in several cities across Nigeria - itself an usual event

We should be asking ourselves: Is this the type of PDP that Nigerians voted for during the general elections of 2011? Of course, not! Nigeria is certainly more divided under this administration than ever and only divine intervention can enable us survive the visionless and clueless leadership that now pervades our nation. These are some of the reasons why the leadership of APC should move fast to rescue our nation from the sordid state it is at the moment.

I am so saddened over the mess President Jonathan has made of our country, because I could recall warning Nigerians that Jonathan was not prepared for the office he was being pushed to occupy, after messing up the zoning formula of PDP entrenched for the sanctity and peace of the nation. But nobody took me serious. I am warning again, that if PDP under President Jonathan is not stopped by 2015, Chief Uzor Kalu would have become a true prophet. After all, he once said: “Jonathan might be the last Nigerian President. Jonathan might be the Gorbachev of Nigeria. And that is the truth, so we better wake up. Political class, business class, military, civilians must now stand up to work for our internal security. We are suffering from pains of our people; we are suffering from pains of the Nigerian system. This is not about which part of the country you come from, it is about Nigeria.”

Chief Tom Ikimi, one of the major pillars of the party, in his open letter to the national chairman of APC, Chief Bisi Akande titled, “My fears for APC, by Ikimi” of May 9, 2014 expresses the fears of some key actors of the party. He wrote: “I have taken a few days rest, but my intention of proceeding to an extended holiday seem to be disturbed by the overwhelming unfavourable reports I have received from across the country on the present status of our party. I have spoken to party members and leaders across the country and the feeling is unanimous regarding the downward trend of things. The latest problems arise from the congresses where in the South-South region; there are fundamental problems in Delta, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Cross Rivers and Edo. I have been informed of similar problems in most other states across the country. Parallel excos have emerged in Ogun State!

“I am compelled to express strong reservations on the present state of affairs in our party, and my heart bleeds when I look back at the efforts and personal sacrifice many of us made to bring this national platform to fruition.”

I believe some of the issues raised by Chief Ikimi in his letter should be addressed as we should not be seen repeating some of the evils that scared us away from PDP.

If we still have audacious strategists in the party, I will suggest that we in APC should heed to the wise counsel of elder statesman Alh. Balarabe Musa, who had earlier advised that “the North should forget the ambition of insisting on the presidency in 2015, rather a credible President for the country should be allowed to emerge from the South-South in 2015 to replace Jonathan.”

I fully persuade our leaders to carefully study this proposal from Musa and make the contest for the APC Presidential ticket an open one that anybody from any section of the country can bid to take. If we make the presidential primary free, fair and transparent, whoever emerges no matter where he or she is from should be allowed to go with the full support of the entire party. This is the only way I believe we can achieve the APC’s aim of rescuing Nigeria from the evil grip of the PDP before this great nation is ran aground.

The most important thing that should be at the back of every progressive Nigerian’s mind is how to free Nigerians from the shame that PDP has brought to us all. And, if we miss this opportunity, only God will determine the fate of our nation.

In this regards, let us be guided by the foremost African, Nelson Mandela’s words: “Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do something you want done because he wants to do it”. And the counsel of management philosopher, Peter Drucker: “Effective leadership is not about making speeches or being liked; leadership is defined by results not attributes.” This is if truly we want to bail this country from the mess of PDP.

Knowing that some people will start to ask questions on my pedigree in penning down this letter, let me state that apart from the facts enumerated above of the need of this letter, my past acts in the struggle for a better and greater Nigeria position me for this letter. I was the national director of the dreaded Turaki Vanguard that fought to stand still the infamous third term agenda and some anti-democratic elements during the second term tenure of President Obasanjo. I was in charge of the public relations unit of the outfit. Apart from being the immediate past national publicity secretary of “new Peoples Democratic Party” (nPDP), I initiated and headed the Igbo Crusaders Political Outfit and South-East-South-South Amalgamated Political Movement (SESSAM), which I used to promote and propagate the ideals and visions of the founding fathers of PDP in the North-East of Nigeria, though sadly the party has been hijacked by elements that never knew the ideals and principles why PDP was formed in the first place.

With this clarification, the point that I have been in the centre of the struggle for a better Nigeria is not in doubt, prompting the penning down of this letter. So it will be sad should anybody dare suggest that I was either influenced or motivated in writing this letter for any other consideration, if not for patriotic reasons.

The fact remains that should APC loose out in the 2015 general election, but God forbid, the true colour of President Goodluck Jonathan will be revealed to Nigerians and none of us may survive the heat. The ball is now in your court to do that which is necessary to rescue Nigeria from the imminent doom that awaits her, should we fail in this mission.

Let me, therefore, conclude this letter by asking you all to listen to what the most outstanding African, both dead and living, Nelson Mandela, said about our present predicament: “It is better to lead from behind and to put others in front, especially when you celebrate victory when nice things occur. You take the front line when there is danger. Then people will appreciate your leadership.”

Regards and remain blessed.

The battle against the deadly Boko Haram sect recorded some level of success at Cameroon border on Sunday as their security forces killed about 40 Boko Haram fighters in the country’s far north.

According to Cameroon state radio, the exchange of heavy gun fire occurred shortly after the release of two of the Italian priests and a Canadian nun suspected to have been held by the Islamist group.

Cameroon, which has been criticised by Nigeria for not doing enough to fight the Nigeria-based terrorist group, deployed over 1,000 troops in the far north last week to tackle the killer sect and it is now paying off.

9  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Jonathan’s Secret Negotiator Opens Up: Chibok Girls Very Sick on: 2-06-2014 07:37 AM

The situation of our girls kidnapped by the deadly Boko Haram sect is going from bad to worst as some of them in custody of the group have taken ill, according to a prominent Australian cleric, Dr. Stephen Davis.

Dr. Davis, a clergyman and hostage negotiator, according to the British newspaper, The Mail, was hired by the President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, to broker the release of the girls.
In his words: "One of that small group of girls is ill and we had hoped we might convince the commander of the group holding her that she should be released so we could give her medical treatment.
"There are other girls who are not well and we have come close to having them released but their captors fear a trap in which they will be captured in the handover process.
"One girl has what I assume is a broken wrist as they demonstrate to me how she holds her hand. I have been told that others are sick and in need of medical attention."

Dr. Davis, who was once the Canon Emeritus at Coventry Cathedral in London, has been in Nigeria working secretly on the release of the girls for almost a month now.

It added that he was asked by the President to come to Nigeria after previously brokering a truce between the Federal Government and the Niger Delta militants in 2004.

He was frequently blindfolded and held at gunpoint during his peace work in the Niger Delta.

In an email, Dr. Davis revealed he had had "ongoing contacts" with the groups involved in the kidnapping in the North-East for seven years.

He attributed his success in hostage negotiations in Nigeria to "a long process of building trust on both sides".

He said, “This is painful for the parents and the nation. The well-being of the girls is constantly on our minds and we want to see their release as soon as possible.”

The secret negotiator ruled out the possibility of a rescue since the girls were not being held in one location.

He said, “There are several groups to deal with as the girls are held in several camps across the Nigerian border in Cameroon, Chad and Niger. This makes any thought of a rescue highly improbable. To attempt to rescue one group would only endanger the others.

"We must not endanger their lives further. The vast majority of the Chibok girls are not being held in Nigeria."

11  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Meriam Ibrahim: Husband 'not informed of release' on: 2-06-2014 06:21 AM

The husband of a woman sentenced to death in Sudan for abandoning Islam has told the BBC he has not been informed that his wife will be released.

Reports on Saturday said a Sudanese official had confirmed that Meriam Ibrahim, who gave birth in custody, would be freed in a few days.

But the foreign ministry said on Sunday Ms Ibrahim could only be released after a successful judicial appeal.

Her death sentence has sparked international outrage.

Ms Ibrahim was brought up as an Orthodox Christian, but a judge ruled last month that she should be regarded as Muslim because that had been her father's faith.

She refused to renounce her Christianity and now faces hanging for apostasy.

'Rumours'
Abdullahi al-Azreg, an under-secretary at the foreign ministry, told the BBC on Saturday that Ms Ibrahim, 27, would be freed because Sudan guaranteed religious freedom and was committed to protecting her.

Daniel Wani said reports of his wife's release were "just like rumours"
But the foreign ministry said on Sunday issued a clarification, saying that only the judicial system could rule on the case.

"The defence team of the concerned citizen has appealed the verdict ... and if the appeals court rules in her favour, she will be released," the ministry said.

Ms Ibrahim's husband, Daniel Wani said he had only heard media reports about his wife's release, which he described as rumours.

"No Sudanese or foreign mediator contacted me. Maybe there are contacts between the Sudanese government and foreign sides that I'm not aware of," Mr Wani told Mohammad Osman, the BBC's correspondent in the Sudanese capital Khartoum.

"As far as I'm concerned I will wait for the appeal which my lawyer submitted and I hope that my wife will be released."

Protesters outside the court in Khartoum hold banners saying "Meriam has the right to be Christian” and “I have the right to choose any religion” - 15 May 2014
Protesters in Khartoum called for the right to choose any religion last month
Last Wednesday, Ms Ibrahim gave birth to a daughter in her prison cell - the second child from her marriage in 2011 to Daniel Wani, a US citizen.

The court had said Ms Ibrahim would be allowed to nurse her baby for two years before the sentence was carried out.

The court also annulled her Christian marriage and sentenced her to 100 lashes for adultery because the union was not considered valid under Islamic law.

In his interview with the BBC, Mr Wani said he was hoping to continue living in Sudan with his wife and children in the event of her release, but that that might be too difficult.

He also expressed his hope that the court would reconsider the verdict about the annulment of their marriage, which he confirmed he had also appealed against.

Sudan has a majority Muslim population and Islamic law has been in force there since the 1980s.

The ruling has revived a debate over apostasy, with liberal and conservative scholars giving different opinions over whether - and how - the act of abandoning the Islamic faith should be punished.

12  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Shell chief to visit Nigeria in effort to clean up oil spills on: 2-06-2014 06:18 AM

Ben van Beurden, the chief executive of Shell, will go to Nigeria this week to try to restore his firm's tarnished reputation by winning local support for a clean-up strategy to tackle old oil spills in the Delta.

The Dutchman, who took over at the company at the start of this year, said he was determined to make progress where his predecessors had failed, after a damning report on pollution by the UN environment programme (Unep) nearly three years ago.

At its AGM in The Hague late last month, Shell was again criticised over the spills in Ogoniland, and was forced to admit that little progress had been made.

But Van Beurden hopes to make progress with the Nigerian government so that hundreds of millions of pounds, set aside by Shell after the Unep report but never spent, can be put to work.

"The commitment [to pay for clean-up] has always been there and I am sure [Van Beurden] will be discussing this issue with a variety of people when he is there. If that serves as progress it can only be a good thing," said a Shell spokesman.

The Unep report called for $1bn to be provided by Shell and others to pay for the restoration work needed after a range of spills, which Shell blamed largely on attacks on installations and pipelines.

Nigerian government data suggests there were more than 7,000 spills between 1970 and 2000 alone, including 2,000 official large spillages sites, many stretching back over decades.

Critics contrasted the effort made by BP to clean up after the Deepwater Horizon accident in the US Gulf with the lack of action by Shell and others in the Niger Delta.

The Anglo-Dutch oil group confirmed that "significant sums" were available for a restoration project that had been set up by the Nigerian government.

Celestine Akpobari, executive director of Social Action, a campaign group in Port Harcourt, said it would take about $100bn over 30 years to properly clean up an area where more than a million people live, but where many had lost their livelihoods from fishing and other activities as a result of the oil spills.

"I would like to meet [Van Beurden] but not in any executive office but in the field, I would like him to see for himself how the Ogoni people are now living in poverty," he said.

Akpobari said Shell had tried to help by paying those affected by spills to work on restoration, but this had only made matters worse. "Our communities are split in half between those who are paid and support Shell and those who are not. Every community where Shell operates there is a crisis of one kind or another."

Shell denies this but admits it tries to create local employment by hiring villagers to help with cleanups, which continue daily in a variety of places. The company says it has implemented 22 recommendations made specifically for Shell Nigeria by Unep.

But Sarah Shoraka of the London-based campaign group Platform, said Shell's claims that it needed to wait for the Nigerian government to act were ridiculous because everyone knew that the oil group was "in the driving seat".

She said: "The petroleum minister was a former director of Shell Nigeria for 15 years. Van Beurden says he is travelling to Nigeria in the next two weeks. He needs to get his head together with the Nigerian government to set up an Ogoni restoration authority and fund if he is serious about delivering the cleanup."

14  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / For OAU students, the journey continues •As parents pay new fees on: 2-06-2014 06:06 AM

The students of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, under the umbrella of the Students Union Government (SUG), on Tuesday insisted that the management of the institution should reverse its decision  on the new regime of fees introduced or further civil action to resist such development would continue even though many parents have already effected payment.

In a communique issued by the President of the SUG, Comrade Ibikunle Isaac. M. a copy of which was made  available to Tribune Education, the aggrieved students affirmed that “we demand an immediate reversal of all fees to status quo”, stressing that “for upward funding of education, stop making poor parents pay for government failure”.

According to the communique, “recently, the OAU management increased the fees of fresh, stale and post-graduate students. Under the current fee regime, fresh students are to pay an exorbitant fee between N84, 790 and N98, 790. This is a whopping increment of over 390 per cent  as the existing fee for fresh students stood between N17, 200 and N22, 200.” The management has however refuted the figures being bandied about by the students, describing them as cooked up statistics.

The statement by the students reads in part, “If allowed to stay, this increment will see a lot of our members drop out of school, while the teeming children of the poor will be automatically denied university education because of their socio-economic status. Thus, the students of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife reject totally the current, hope-shattering, astronomic fee regime”.

The students in the communique alleged that, ‘‘the Professor Bamitale Omole led management had only threatened students’ union leaders that the increment is irreversible and that if students protest it, the school will be shut down and the students’ union proscribed”.

“In fact the  Vice-Chancellor emphasised that university education is not for the poor, but the children of kings and queens. While the students’ union has considered the arguments of the university for fee increment, we do not agree with the conclusions arrived at by the university administration. The management has hinged fee increment on government’s underfunding of education”, the communique further alleged

But, the management of OAU maintained that there was no plan to reverse the new fees regime, disclosing that some students have commenced payment of the new rates. The university management also dismissed as juvenile the allegation that the Vice Chancellor said education was only for the rich.

Speaking through its Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr Abiodun Olanrewaju, OAU stated that “first and foremost, there is no basis for total reversal of the fees. The students the SUG claimed to be fighting have started paying the new tuition fees”.

“Some parents, even commended the OAU for facing social and economic realities in introducing the fees. We want to use this medium to appeal to our students to give peace a chance because the management would not be interested in any act that would prolong the academic calendar of the next session”, he remarked.

15  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / We left APC ‘cos its full of hypocrisy, deceit —Ize-Iyamu on: 2-06-2014 06:04 AM

Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu is the leader of a group of politicians in the Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who dumped the party for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The former vice chairman, South-South, of the now defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) speaks on the reasons his group left the APC, his problem with Governor Adams Oshiomhole and his rumoured governorship ambition, among others. BANJI ALUKO brings excerpts of the interview.

WHAT will you say are the reasons you left the APC, which you helped build, for the PDP in Edo State?
The reasons we resigned our membership of the APC are in the public domain. So, after wide consultations, we joined the PDP. The reason we joined the PDP is quite obvious - we are politicians representing our people and our communities. We believe politics is the best way for us to be able to have political power that we need to develop our environment and our people. In Edo State and in Nigeria today, we believe there are two major political parties- the PDP and the APC. Therefore, if we are leaving the APC, the most viable option is the PDP. Beyond that, we were also attracted by the reforms we have seen and heard that the PDP is undergoing. As you know in Edo State the PDP is not content to calling itself the PDP, they call themselves the new PDP, some say the reformed PDP. That statement in itself is very endearing because it shows a lot of humility; it shows that they hopefully admit that certain things were not too good in the past and things have changed. From what we have seen, it is clear to us that the PDP is not a one man party. It is a party that has clearly defined rules and regulations; a party that is very well structured, organised and has a better platform for us to be able to engage ourselves and get the dividends of democracy to our people. As for what made us depart or resign from the APC, it was because of lack of internal democracy, the autocracy that is now prevalent, the hypocrisy and the deceit. We needed a better place and we looked at the environment. We looked at the party and there was no dissenting voice. We were of the view that the logical place to go was the new PDP in Edo State.

Talks in the APC are that you left when you realised that the governorship ticket that you so much wanted had slipped from your hands?
That cannot be correct because we have not even reached that stage yet. The issue of governorship race is still very, very, far and that was just a cheap blackmail. It is too early in the day for anybody to say that he is being cheated out of the governorship race. Governorship election in Edo State is not even 2015, it will be in 2016. I know that in politics, a day can make a lot of difference. So, we are too experienced in this game to be leaving our party just simply because of governorship race. The reality is that even before we left, a lot of people were already going. I recall that even before we gave an ultimatum, our people and leaders in the three Etsako councils had met on their own and they had given the governor a two-week ultimatum for reasons which were very similar to the reasons we also articulated. So, our reasons for leaving were quite clear and when you look at the array of those who are leaving, you will know that they cannot be described as Pastor Ize-Iyamu and his followers. I am just privileged to be one of the leaders in the group. You have in the group the first chairman of this party, Prince Tony Omoaghe; and the Eson of Benin Kingdom, Chief Amos Osunbor who was the senatorial leader in Edo south. You also have Alhaji Usman Shagadi, who was not just the deputy state chairman of the party but was the leader of the party in the governor’s senatorial district. Bright Omokhodion, who is a former speaker of the State House of Assembly, is also part of the group; ex commissioners are there, Hon. West Idahosa, who is a three time member of the House of Representatives, is part of the group; Mrs Evelyn Omokhodion, a leader of the party is there; Engineer Abubakar Momoh is part of it. When you look at these people, how can you say that the reason they left was simply because of Pastor Ize-Iyamu’s governorship ambition? In any event, the four members in the House of Assembly, did they also leave the APC because of Pastor Ize-Iyamu? The reason this is happening is quite obvious.

The argument on the other side is that the ultimatum you issued had not expired when you went to negotiate with Abuja. Does this mean that you had already made up your mind since you did not allow them to look into your demands?
If you follow the sequence of events, you will know that even when the ultimatum had expired, we still tarried. We waited for another four days and during those four days, our people became very restless, asking whether we had taken them for a ride because there were stories doing the rounds that government had settled us and that was why we were not ready to proceed. The meeting we held at Wesley was well-covered by the press. If you recall, the mandate we were given were two folds. The first one was that we should go and discuss the issues we raised with the governor, while the second one was to go and discuss with the PDP about the possibility of working with them. As of the time we held that meeting, a lot of people were even of the opinion that there was no need for further discussions and that the meeting arose simply because those who ought to listen have refused to listen. You will remember that we had even done congress twice and all with the same result. So there was a lot of anger and disenchantment but some of us said that to call the first meeting and just announce that we were leaving would give the impression that we did not even care for the house that we built. So, in spite of the overwhelming view that we should leave the party, we were able to moderate the opinion and we agreed that we should take a two-way approach. Let us discuss and let us go to the PDP and see if it was possible for us to work with them. Now, one interesting point I want you to take note of was when we went to Abuja, it was not a secret visit. We went to the full knowledge of the governor and those that matter. At the (Aso Rock) Villa, there were journalists who would have been able to announce to the whole world that we had moved but we made no comments. When we came back, we still had a meeting with the governor and he knew that there was no commitment on our part in Abuja and this was because he made a passionate appeal that we should try to be patient with him. He said all the things we have mentioned, he had taken note of them and he would take steps to rectify them. I will give you some examples; it took our intervention to make them realise that even in the party guidelines there was room for an appeal panel. We told the governor, that he cannot be the one announcing cancelation of congresses and what next to do. We showed them that there is an appeal panel and that we should follow the provisions in the guideline which says that grievances should be addressed to a constituted appeal panel that will make pronouncement on what will happen. Based on that observation that we made, they set up an appeal panel. However, we have not heard a single report of that appeal panel till today. Even if our observations and our petitions were all frivolous, it would have been nice to hear the appeal panel say “we have received all the petitions they wrote; they were frivolous and have no merit.” I can tell you that we submitted petitions, local government by local government. We even wrote to INEC, asking them to bring their reports because they observed the congresses. In most cases, their (INEC) report was that the congresses never took place and that it was a sham. So, we took this report to collaborate what we said that congresses did not take place yet they announced results. Up till Monday when they did their state congress, that the deputy governor called a selection, we are yet to hear about a single outcome of all those issues we raised. So, we tried to follow all the processes unfortunately they didn’t listen. We came back from Abuja and deliberately waited to see whether the governor had done anything, but the man was still talking about how we can patch up the arrangement. He was still asking if it was impossible for us to harmonise, do this or that. So, it was clear to us that he was determined to consolidate on what he had perfected and all he just needed was our participation in the process. That, of course, was unacceptable to us. So, by the time the seven days elapsed, we waited for another four days and then we called a meeting, where we unanimously adopted that we should all resign from the party.

Now that you are returning to the PDP that you and some people left in 2007, how certain are you that those things that made you leave in the first place are no longer there?
The reason we left the PDP is not something that is strange and I will tell you the truth. We don’t jump from party to party. In an attempt to rubbish us, those on the governor’s side are referring to us as nomadic politicians, but I want to say that facts are facts. If you look at the governor’s political history, he is more of a nomadic politician and I will tell you why. He left the NLC and his priority was simply governorship and nothing else. He went to PDP and told them he wanted to run for governorship. They told him he was just coming; you can’t just begin to ask for governorship ticket. The moment he knew he wouldn’t get it, he moved to the ANPP. In the ANPP he had resistance. When he left the ANPP, I will like you to please look at your records in 2006 and go and read the press clippings of Godwin Erhahon and the insults he heaped on him (Governor Oshiomhole) then. In fact, he questioned his qualification to even become a comrade simply because the man left the ANPP. From the ANPP, he went to form the Labour Party. For reasons best known to him, he left the Labour Party and he came to us, begging us to give him a platform, which we did. I heard him at their APC selection where he asked why those of us who are talking didn’t challenge him in 2007. I think he belittled himself by that statement because he has told the public on countless occasions that he was grateful to us for giving him the platform to contest. He appealed to us and we were “deceived” by his records in Abuja and so we gave him a platform. But I think he revealed himself by the way he spoke. I wish he had told us then to challenge him. He was so grateful he made one of us the Director-General of his campaign and after the election he was full of praise. I remember his inauguration, apart from making me the chairman of the inauguration, he spent time to thank me for the work I did to put him there but at the stadium, he chose to dance naked.

I can tell you that I have played politics for a while. As a national officer of the Liberal Convention, I was one of those elected in the NRC in the Port Harcourt convention. When Abacha came up with his five political parties, I did not participate because I did not believe in it. So I am not a professional politician; I play politics of conviction. When I came to the PDP, I was consistent; I didn’t leave the PDP. People were worried about how vocal I was. At a time when most people were afraid to speak, I was bold enough to question certain decisions. And when they had the opportunity to reregister members, some of us were singled out as “troublemakers” and they thought that by denying us registration, we would be forced to come to them to pledge that we would be of good behavior.

They did not contemplate that their action would make us leave; they just wanted to punish us. As of that time, there was no other party because the PDP was controlling the federal, state, local governments and the wards. They were shocked that we refused to bow to them. We said rather than beg them to belong to this party, let us go outside and look for an alternative. We were looking for an alternative when like minds across the country also began to come together for an alternative. So, when we heard about that, we said rather than join the APP that was almost dead in Edo State, let us link up with this new group, bring in our people from all over the state and make a strong platform. And so we started the ACD, AC, and the rest is history. Oshiomhole came to join us in the group. So, how can you be calling us nomads? The reason why left is very clear. If a house that you have is suddenly being taken over by armed robbers or a tenant now brings out a gun and says that you can no longer sleep in the master bedroom, that in any event you can no longer stay in any room anymore and that you can only stay in the corridors, the logical thing to do is to begin to plot how you can leave the house. A song says he who runs away, lives to fight another day. You don’t quarrel with a mad man; you don’t quarrel with a man who is armed. And whether you like it or not today we have armed a man. He is boasting of state resources. He said he used to fight with bare hands. Now he has state resources at his disposal. And he is deploying it in a very reckless manner. In the past few days, he has turned government house into a Mecca where all kinds of people come and pretend that they know Ize-Iyamu and they are given millions. Those who are with us, and that is why they are here with us. No amount of money, inducement or blackmail can change the situation. We don’t jump from place to place. We are extremely consistent in everything that we do. We are also not afraid of going back to the PDP.

It appears your group has a structure across the 18 local governments of the state which has not been integrated into your new party, the PDP. What could be responsible for this?
I must confess that the number of people that were carried from the APC to the PDP is a very large one. We are eagerly looking forward to the day when the president will come to Edo and we will be able to use a place like the stadium to show who actually is on ground and has the support of the people. What we are doing is a carefully thought-out arrangement. We have announced our movement at the state level. This group has people in the 192 wards in Edo State and we are sending this message down. After this week, you will see our people fully involved in all PDP activities. Our people have been told to begin to go to their rallies which they are doing across the state. We have been told by the state chairman of the PDP that they are going to arrange special senatorial rallies where everybody will now come. Let me assure you that we are going to be fully integrated into this arrangement. As I said, I have had the opportunity of being in PDP before and I can tell you that the PDP is more of a family arrangement. You can see a lot of oneness, a lot of brotherliness amongst their members and commitment. Those are what you need to win election. To answer the fear that Comrade was making at the stadium that some people want to rig election, sometimes your conscience has a way of making you to be afraid. Let me assure the Comrade Governor that PDP does not need to rig elections at all in Edo to win. We look forward to the implementation of his one man one vote. We are looking forward to it in the next election and we are inviting journalists to cover everywhere. They will see the people coming out and they will see the votes being counted. At the end of the day, we will know who is who. Let me assure him, he should sleep and focus on governance. Nobody is going to rig the elections. You can’t continue talking about the past. The past we have now is Oshiomhole’s past. You have done five years but you are still going back, talking about 10, 15 years ago? The past you must look at is your past. The promises you made, the things you said you will do. You cannot continue to play back the things in the first term to the detriment of what we are expecting in the second term. So, the second term must speak for itself. The promises you have made, we must see their implementation. The same way we worked for him to become governor is the same way we are going to work for PDP to win every seat in the state.

16  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Google to start building friendly driverless car on: 2-06-2014 06:02 AM

Google is to start building its own driverless car that will have a stop-go button but no controls, steering wheel or pedals.

The vehicle is designed to look like a small city car with a “friendly face” and uses a soft foam-like material where a traditional bumper would be to make it seem less threatening.

Each car, which will have two seats, will have a top speed of 25mph to begin with to help ensure safety.

Google co-founder Sergey Brin unveiled the plans at a conference in California, where a prototype for the new vehicle was taken for a test drive.

“We’re really excited about this vehicle – it’s something that will allow us to really push the capabilities of self driving technology, and understand the limitations,” said Chris Urmson, director of the company’s self-driving project.

After several years of testing everyday cars modified to drive themselves with the help of sensors, navigation equipment and computers, Google will now build its own car from scratch.

For the initial 100 test vehicles, extra controls will be fitted so one of Google’s test drivers can take over if there is a problem.

However, Mr Urmson believes that over time they will be removed entirely as people gain more confidence in using self-driving technology.

Mr Urmson said driverless cars would increase road safety, calling the development “an important step toward improving road safety and transforming mobility for millions of people”.

More than 23,000 people were killed or seriously injured in road traffic accidents in Britain last year, according to government figures.

Advocates have claimed the vehicles have the potential to eliminate crashes by removing the chance of driver error.

Mr Urmson predicted the cars would be on the road within a year.

The car will use both laser and radar sensors along with camera data to navigate without a driver and allow it to “see” several hundred metres. A more flexible windscreen than a standard vehicle will be used to help reduce injuries.

17  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Now you can wash your clothes digitally on: 2-06-2014 05:59 AM

Since the innovation of washing machines for private and commercial laundry uses, different home appliance manufacturing companies over time improved on several technologies so as to improve the efficiency of these machines in handling dirt removal effectively.

LG Electronics has attributed the success of its washing machine segment to its proprietary Six Motion Direct Drive technology.

LG’s six Motion technology washing-machines use six powerful techniques to deliver a customised wash for different types of fabric. The washing machines are developed from technology that allows one to care for one’s most delicate fabrics from silk to woolen, and from sportswear to the luxury couture garments seen on the catwalk.

Premium models of LG front-load washing machines also include a steam washer, which harnesses the power of steam to remove dirt, odours and reduce wrinkles. The product’s 20-minute Steam Refresh Cycle provides a detergent-free wash that uses less than one litre of water, to blast clothes with steam to refresh and smooth wrinkles.

The unique Smart Diagnosis system lets one diagnose and solve washing problems on LG washing machines using a smartphone. Available for both iPhone and Android, the Smart Diagnosis app lets the user record and analyse special tones emitted by LG Smart Diagnosis washing machines to provide the user with a diagnosis without necessarily needing to call a service technician.

Recently, the fascinating front load washing machine was rated high among others in its class due to its quiet operation and spacious capacity, with a host of other innovative features designed to make washing clothes a stress-free experience.

This is what earned it top ratings in Spain and Italy, recently. Influential Spanish consumer title, OCU-Compra Maestra and Italian consumer advocacy organisation, Altro Consumo, gave the washing machine the highest scores in their latest product rankings.

This was as a result of tests carried out by OCU-Compra Maestro at the end of first quarter of this year. LG’s front-loading washing machine scored 60 points, earning it the “Mejor del Analisis” (Best Product) award.

Washing machines were rated on their ability in 15 categories, including washing, rinsing, drying, energy efficiency, noise level and convenience. Of all the 11 products tested, LG’s offering was also the only model to receive a “Purchase” recommendation. The washing machine was praised for its superior rinsing performance, and for leaving behind the least amount of detergent residue.

More so, in Italy, the washing machine secured the top spot in a product comparison conducted by non-profit consumer organisation, Altro Consumo. It was also tested against 15 other models available in the Italian market and it took top place for its superior washing and rinsing performance. Altro Consumo magazine also commended the product for its low noise operation during the spin-dry cycle and for its competitive pricing.

As a result of these developments, General Manager, Home Appliance Division, LG Electronics, West Africa Operations, Mr Hyunwoo Jung, noted that the washing machine had proven time and again that it was second to none when it came to performance and value. He said, “Our proprietary six Motion Direct Drive technology is the magic behind our success and it’s the type of innovation that will continue to drive us toward our goal to create value-added solutions which bring greater convenience and efficiency to our consumers’ everyday life.”

Designed to offer different washing motions to suit your clothes, LG’s six motion washing machines are able to perform various drum motions or a combination of different motions depending on the wash programme selected, to mirror motions of traditional manual wash methods.

The motions include: Tumble, which is the standard turn washing machine motion.

Scrub, which is a combination of scrub motion and the waved lifters create a figure-8 shape and a ‘trough’ of water.

In rolling motion, laundry is rolled below the water level and creates more friction with the inner drum which is gentle on clothes.

In the swing motion, this heart-shaped motion washes laundry below the water line from side to side.

Filtration which involves a mix of spinning and spray from the shower forms the movement. This soaks the laundry faster and more evenly.

Stepping motion is the action of rotating and stopping repeatedly in the washing machine and it minimises creasing.

18  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / I experienced homosegxwality in Eastern Europe —DJ Sose on: 2-06-2014 05:55 AM

Love him or hate him, one of Nigeria’s finest DJs, DJ Sose always presents one with a delightful experience anytime he shares the pains he had to go through before hitting the limelight. Not many people know that Sose was born in Ibadan and that he has not visited the capital city for more than thirty years. From Ibadan to hungary to London and back to Lagos .He had a revealing interview session with SEGUN ADEBAYO. Excerpts:

You have been on top of your game for many years. Rising on top of one’s game is something, staying on it meaningfully is another thing that seems to be very difficult for Nigerian celebs in this part of the world. In your own evaluation, would you say you have handled the famous part of your life very well?
Well, so far, I have been able to balance it out as well as I can with a lot of help from family, friends and of course, GrayTiger EntTeam. They all keep me grounded and focused on day to day tasks needed to continue and cope with the obstacles and challenges.

Are you saying you can handle it better if you are ten times bigger than what you are today?
With their help and support, I believe we are going to remain on top for as long as God permits. We have been together for a while and this is the result of our hard work over the years.

What was it like growing up knowing that you have a dual citizenship?
To be honest with you, it is the same feeling and experience that comes with mixed marriages. It has its pros and cons, but here we are today. We thank God.

Where exactly did you grow up and what childhood experience do you still carry around till date?
I did a bit of growing up here and a bit of it in Hungary. So, I can’t point out one exact experience that I carry around with me till date. I know it has been mixed feelings.

Let’s talk about your journey into the world of DJ, how did you find your way into it?
I’ve always been surrounded by music from a very young age as my dad used to be a Dj in his time, so you could say it’s in the blood. Although, it didn’t come to light until back in 1998 when I was doing A Levels in Europe.

You were born in Ibadan, but I’m sure not many people would know you have history with the city. Tell us, what can you remember about Ibadan?
That’s a good question. I can’t remember being asked that question. It shows you did your research well about me. It’s been a while I visited that city, but thinking back now what I remember most about it was the tranquillity of the town and its iconic locations...like the Zoo, Bashorun where BCOS is located not sure if it’s still there now, UCH where I was born & UI.

Do you ever have time to visit Ibadan for anything at all?
No, I haven’t actually since we moved to Lagos. But looking to do so in the near future as I’ve heard that it has really developed since back then. It is an experience I’m looking forward to.

How easy was it for you have your face tattooed?
I’m spontaneous. And, I like to apply to it to certain aspects of my life. I doodled around with different designs before I came up with the final one which you see today.

What inspired your decision?
The need to be different and unique. I just took it a step further since I’m in the entertainment game.

How much did it cost you to have the tattoo on your face?
I would rather not say it. I spent quite a bit on consultation fees before coming up with the final design.

Were you not scared it could affect your eyes if any mistake happens?
No, I didnt have any fear. The tattooist has many years of experience in the art and business. I was comfortable giving my face to him.

I learnt you started as a musician and you have released some singles and videos, what’s going on in that aspect of your career?
I have been featuring artists and I am now taking it a step further with doing a bit of singing myself in my latest single “Under The Tree” featuring my producer, Deolu Shogon with many more in the pipeline.

Is your work as a DJ not affecting your music career?
No, it’s not. They are intertwined and I actually get inspiration from both. Like I get concepts for my mixes while working in the studio and in some cases get ideas from tracks I’m mixing for a concept to a new sound that I would end up creating and recording.

We all make mistakes in life and we learn from them or live with them for the rest of our lives. Is there something about your life that would have been better if you had not made certain mistakes while you were growing up?
No no no... every step I have taken so far has made me the person I am today. I hold no regrets to any choices I have made be they good or bad. Everything in life is an experience and molds us into the individuals we are.

You were said to have lived in England for 12 years, what was the experience like?
Oh! If I was to sit down and explain that, we would end up writing out a minimum of 400 pages of autobiography of all that I experienced in London. That part of my life helped me to see the world differently. I tried different odd jobs while I was there. Don’t ask me what kind of job. I know that’s going to be your next question.

Actually, you are wrong. I was going to ask you what took you to England in the first place and what led to your home coming?
My quest for a higher education was the main reason I went. During and after which I got work experiences on the side or during the different vacations. There’s so much I learnt and realised that a lot of which is still yet to be tapped here so after all of it, I decided to move back and come and give back what I was privileged to learn by applying some of it here. Above all, home is where the heart is which is Nigeria.

Before now, people had criticised your job but people like you have continued to prove that it is lucrative and still pays. What is it about disc-jockeying that gives you guys a lot of money?
Branding and consistency are the two most important ingredients you need to succeed on this job. This work is actually a service which when packaged correctly becomes a business.

How do you keep yourself aBosom  of others who do the same job like you?
Hey! You this man, you want me to reveal my trade secret to my friends. If I share it with you, I would have to cough cough and cough. I think we should move to the next question.

Why did you choose to stay in Nigeria if you have a dual citizenship?
My heart is and has always been here which makes this place my first home, and if I can’t make it here, then where else would I be able to make it.

Has it ever crossed your mind to leave the country and go live where things are more comfortable for you?
Yes, it has happened many time. I had that feeling when the light kept cutting on and off, making work a little bit difficult. I had to save my work, then shut down, switch on the generating set and then start up the equipment again. It could be very frustrating in most cases not to talk about the cost of diesel or petrol to run the generating set.

What’s your relationship with other DJs like as I learnt there is a lot going on between you guys than meet the eyes?
I have no idea what you are referring to. I keep things neutral with my colleagues, unless you are referring to how we all meet up from time to time and discuss how we can make the industry better for us aside from when we work together at events.

So, how are you guys handling the industry, giving the competitive nature of the job?
We are all working collectively to make things better for the industry as a whole as that is what we are here for. We are slowly bridging the gap between Africa and the rest of the world.

Jimmy Jatt is still rated Nigeira’s number one DJ. How long will It take you guys to catch up with him.?
Jimmy is a Legend so, there’s no need to compete with him.

Have given up on catching up with him?
We would need to have made a major contribution to the industry before we could be talking of catching up with him. He has been in the game for a long time.

Tell me, what would you say has kept him in the game that you guys don’t have?
Jimmy has benefitted greatly from time and experience. That’s the truth of the matter.

What does DJ Sose stand for?
Sose is a short form of Soseneyayi, which means “Bear Witness to the Believer” then it is also my moto to life “Smile Over Sorrow Everyday” - S.O.S.E.

We have not heard much about you having a baby mama or settling down with any woman. May be there is no woman in your life yet?
I don’t have any baby mama or woman in my life just yet. I’m searching and at some point, I will be looking to settle down and take life to the next level.

Some women have alleged that your face is scary, is this true?
Yeah, I know about that but then in some cases, it also attracts them. So, it works both ways.

How come you are scandal free?
I don’t know. May be I am lucky. I don’t dodge it as it is not easy to dodge when you are doing a job that constantly brings you to the full glare of the people. I have a very good management that knows how to curtail stuff like that.

May be you are also one of those celebs that dread scandals?
I am a perfectionist but that doesn’t mean I dread scandals as they add to the experience of life in general.

How long do you think this kind of job will continue to be relevant. Don’t you think one day ,people will stop using Djs and device other methods of entertainment?
That sounds pretty funny to me. This job has been around for a very long time and will continue to be around for a very longtime unless some geek are able to create an artificial intelligence that can communicate just as well as a Dj does by reading the emotions of the crowd while selecting the songs it has to play which I can assure you is not an easy task.

When that day comes, how prepared are you to handle yourself?
I’m an entertainment mogul not just sticking to Djing myself and GrayTiger Ent do other things in entertainment as well.

Tell me about that nasty experience that always makes you laugh anytime you recall?
Nothing nasty comes to mind. That experience is yet to happen. Most of them have been the usual stuff that could happen to anybody that’s in the public eye or not given the right situation. For example, having two ladies fight over me when we were hanging out at a friend’s crib.

What’s the newest thing on your stable right now?
We have got a new feature cooking in the pipeline that will most definitely wow my fan base. An artist that people are not expecting me to work with. A well know veteran in the music business.

What’s your reaction to homosegxwality in the country?
What is there to react about? Homosegxwality is not as bad as it is in the Western world which I experienced.

Experienced like?
I won’t like to talk about that.

Do you think government got it right with a strict law frowning against such act in Nigeria?
I would rather not comment on that.

19  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / How tobacco’ll kill 6 million this year on: 2-06-2014 05:52 AM

Today is the “World No Tobacco Day” globally. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), the global tobacco epidemic kills nearly six million people each year, of which more than 600, 000 are non-smokers dying from breathing second-hand smoke. This year may not be an exception and unless action is taken, it is estimated that the epidemic will kill more than eight million people every year by 2030.

Though tobacco has a long history of usage, it is the single most preventable cause of death globally and experts have pointed out that it is currently responsible for 10 per cent of adult deaths worldwide.

What makes tobacco (which is a plant whose leaves are smoked, chewed or sniffed) dangerous is the fact that it contains addictive substances (nicotine), poisons, as well as more than 19 known cancer-causing chemicals. Interestingly, many of these poisons are things people would never consider putting in their bodies. Some of them are tar, carbon monoxide, acetaldehyde, and nitrosamines.

The risks
Most people are aware of some of the risks involved in tobacco smoking. Over the years, medical experts have pointed out how its intake, either directly or through second hand smoke, affects one’s health. In fact, several studies have shown that these negative effects are not restricted to smoked tobacco (in the form of cigarettes). Smokeless tobacco products such as snuff, spitting tobacco and the likes, are equally as damaging to one’s health as the smoked tobacco.

Though there have been ‘doubting Thomases,’ who claim they know of people who have been smoking for years and have lived to old age, this does not change the fact that there are countless, unnecessary health problems and deaths associated with tobacco consumption.

Among the five greatest risk factors for mortality, tobacco consumption has been fingered as the single most preventable cause of death. Experts say 11 per cent of deaths from ischemic heart disease, the world’s leading killer, are attributable to tobacco use. Also, more than 70 per cent of deaths from lung, trachea and bronchus cancers are attributable to tobacco use.

According to researchers, compared to non-smokers, tobacco smoking is estimated to increase the risk of coronary heart disease by two to four times; stroke by two to four times; men developing lung cancer by 23 times; women developing lung cancer by 13 times and the risk of dying from chronic obstructive lung diseases (such as chronic bronchitis and emphysema) by 12 to 13 times

on average, it is estimated that smokers die 13 to 14 years earlier than non-smokers.

For those who consume smokeless tobacco, the risks are no less. Experts say there is an increased risk of mouth or nasal cancer, gum problems, tooth wear and cavities, worsening high blood pressure and angina.

Besides an increased risk of various forms of cancers, tobacco smoking causes problems with erections because of decreased blood flow into the penis. There have also been studies pointing to the fact that loss of sight due to an increased risk of macular degeneration is a risk.

Dr. Oluwaseun Jegede, a medical consultant at Deseret Hospital, Lagos State, added that tobacco smoke can trigger asthmatic attacks and other respiratory conditions. He stated that prolonged exposure could lead to chronic lung diseases. For second-hand tobacco inhalation, (especially through second-hand smoke) the risks are equally if not more dangerous. According to him, “second-hand smokers are more predisposed to Bosom  cancer than direct smokers.”

What happens when you quit smoking?
According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), once a person chooses to quit tobacco, there is a significant and immediate beneficial effect.

Within 20 minutes, the heart rate and blood pressure drop.

In 12 hours, the carbon monoxide level in the blood drops to normal.

By two-12 weeks, circulation improves and lung function increases.

By one-nine months, coughing and shortness of breath decrease.

By one year, risk of coronary heart disease is about half that of a smoker’s.

By five years, stroke risk is reduced to that of a non-smoker five to 15 years after quitting.

By 10 years, risk of lung cancer falls to about half that of a smoker and risk of cancer of the mouth, throat, oesophagus, bladder, cervix, and pancreas decreases.

By 15 years, the risk of coronary heart disease is that of a non-smoker’s.

Get over the addiction
The reasons for tobacco consumption are numerous and varied. While some consume it out of peer pressure, others take it to reduce tension and achieve a heightened sense of well-being. Generally, the addictive power makes most people go back to it as the nicotine changes the body’s chemistry and functioning when it enters the body.

Like every other form of addiction, quitting tobacco use is not a one-day affair. It is one that requires will, discipline and a strong support network.

According to Mr. Kazeem Busari, a psychologist, “tobacco addiction is a complex issue because it involves behavioural, cognitive and physiological components. Like every other addiction, it can be challenging to quit. In fact, many want to quit but, most times, relapse after the first attempt. This is because of the addictive powers of nicotine. As a matter of fact, nicotine is as addictive as heroin, cocaine and alcohol. So, when the user wants to quit, he suffers withdrawal symptoms which sometimes pushes him to relapse into tobacco use. Some of these symptoms are irritability, anxiety, difficulty concentrating, increased appetite and cravings for tobacco.”

This is not to say that getting over tobacco addiction cannot be achieved. Mr. Busari says the determination to quit, behavioural therapies, nicotine replacement products such as nicotine patch and medications as well as a strong support social network can help in overcoming this destructive, deadly addiction.

20  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Only inferior people embrace Western dresses – Tope Alade of Ibile Vogue on: 2-06-2014 05:52 AM

Tope Olanre- Alade, a graduate of English from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, is the Creative Director of Ibile Vogue, an Afropolitan clothing line designed to give the afro-cultural heritage a voice in the global fashion orchestral, rector of Ibile Vogue Academy and the presenter of Obirin Asiko on Orisun Television. In this interview with TAYO GESINDE in Lagos, the award-winning designer, who is currently the National Secretary General of the Nigerian Fashion Designers Association (FADAN), speaks   on her love for designing and the Nigerian fashion industry among sundry issues. Excerpts:

Foray into fashion design
Being a creative person who loves to sketch and design, I wanted to study Fine Art in the university but my mum wanted me to study medicine. After much struggle, I  decided to study English.  Due to my love for art, I was going to an art gallery to paint and that really affected my GPA in the first and second year.  I later made up my mind to face my studies squarely. When I got to my final year in 1998, there was political crisis in the country and our school was shut down for about 11 months.  Instead of staying at home doing nothing I went to Margarita Institute of Fashion Designing, I really did well that I impressed my boss.  After I graduated from OAU, I served in a secondary school. When I finished service,   I did not get a job on time, so while, I was searching for job, I was always doing something creative in between. I   later got a job in a bank. I became a banker because bankers dress well, so in essence,  I went into banking for a wrong reason and that was why I failed as a banker, I lost my job a few years. That was when I told myself it was time to follow my passion. That was how I went and enrolled at Nobel Afrique Fashion School.  When I finished my training, I decided to start a fashion business. When I told my husband, he didn’t take me serious and there was nobody to borrow me money.  So, I started my fashion business in our sitting room with a borrowed machine that was 13 years ago. The machine was given to my friend when she was getting married as eru iyawo but she was not using it. I used the machine and after some time, that single machine increased to eight because each time I made profit I would use it to invest in machines.  At a point when my husband was tired of sitting on pins injuring him, he got an office for me. I started making profits and getting awards. I won Best Designer of the Year 2009, CEPAN African Icon Award 2010 and many more.

Challenges faced
The first challenge was finance because I cannot say acceptance because my family and friends already loved my dress sense, so it was easy for me to convince them to give their clothes to me. Whenever people gave me a compliment, I used that opportunity to advertise my job so it was very easy for me to get clients. But talking about finance, I did not have money to start my business but as a wise woman, I knew how I was managing things because my husband always gave housekeep allowance. I would then divide it into two, buy food stuff with half and use the remaining half to run my business. And when we run out of stuff, I would use the profit I made to restock.  No one gave me money to start my business. That’s why I always tell people that no one can stop you, only you can stop yourself.

Why I named my business Ibile Vogue
Because I love African fabric, I like working with African fabrics. I love local things, I am unapologetically African, every single side of my work has a touch of Africa in it.

 Carving a niche for myself
By sticking to what I believe in, afro-centric design, that is what we have been doing.

Coping with competition
Though I was not afraid of the established designers we had when I was starting out, at the same time, I saw them as a big challenge because they made me realise that I still have a long way to go. So each time I travelled outside the shores of Nigeria, I always take a course that will enhance my career, especially when I started training others because what you don’t have, you can’t give. I respect my senior colleagues because they know more than I do. Today, I have people who look up to me too, I always tell them that if you pay the price you should stand well. So, for me, they are not a threat  but more of encouragement and challenge to me.

Fabrics I love working with
I love Ankara, adire and aso-oke. I could make an ankara dress and the band is aso-oke or the corset area will be aso-oke, so, I can work with any African fabric like ‘kigipa’ and others. I use lace sometimes too, I could  mix lace with aso-oke. We also use  African fabrics to make accessories, such as ties, iPad cases and even make wedding gowns  with aso-oke. In my home, throw pillows are adire and even my pot holders are ankara as well as my bathroom curtains. For me, it is more than a business but more like a campaign, trying to encourage people to use these fabrics not only for fashion but to give the African cultural heritage a voice on the global scene. We should be proud of what we have. I feel so bad when I see people who are so much into Western dresses. To me, they are feeling inferior,  if you are proud of your root then show it. The irony is that those abroad appreciate our dresses   more.

Participation at show outside Nigeria
Yes, I have been to South Africa, Kenya, and Ghana.

Comparing Nigerian designers to their counterparts abroad
It is not easy to make dresses. The problem we have in Nigeria is that our industries are not well organised because as a designer, you do everything. I   am more of a wardrobe consultant than a dress maker because I need to know about my business since those that you hire may call your bluff one day. If you don’t know your onions, you will have problems. Fashion designers create designs, they are not meant to copy from magazines. I create my designs because I am a very creative person and I am not even afraid of people copying me because I see myself as a trendsetter. But in our industry you are the designer, you do the cuttings, do the tailoring and even the market yourself, you are also the debt recovery person. It is crazy so, that is why we are not doing so well. We are supposed to be specialising in different  areas but we are combining everything and that is killing. That is why I always say that Nigerian designers are really trying. I think we are doing better because we raise the capital ourselves; the government is not giving us support. So, if most of us are not passionate about it, we would have run away from it. That is why I always encourage designers, I don’t join people to criticise any designer because by doing so you are putting off the little confidence they have in them, the environment already is frustrating.

Assessment of the Nigerian fashion industry
Like I said, we are trying our best. If you compare us with designers abroad, then you are not fair to us because they are not working under the same condition with us. Two days ago when I went to the office I found my generator outside  while  the generator of two others were  stolen and we have a security officer who  had slept off, so tell me, If you got to your office and  found out that your generator was missing and there was no electricity to power your machine, won’t you disappoint your client for that day? There are lots of issues but we are really trying.

Combining the home front with my career
I can attribute the successes I have been recording in the two areas to God and my husband. I have a very supportive husband. He is always there for me. He is more like a best friend or I call him my pillar. My two boys too help where they can. Sometimes, when I am too tired to cook, they will make noodles and fry egg because they are grownups. The three men in my life have been quite understanding and supportive.

Definition of style
For me, I will say style is an individual thing or the way you do things. Fashion wise, I always say style is knowing when and how to wear something.  If you are a woman of style then, you don’t  wear what is in vogue, rather, you wear what will suit your body . So style is all about the way you talk and the way you dress.

Beauty regimen
I don’t really have a beauty regimen. I don’t eat late at night. I eat one major meal a day and I shower a lot.

What I will like to change about myself
I really love myself, my skin and colour. I love the way God created me and I can’t go for any cosmetic surgery or toning. Besides, I only makeup when I have an event to attend.  And I always make sure I use colours that will suit my skin.

My favourite colours
Green, brown and orange. Orange inspires me a lot.

What I won’t be caught dead wearing
I can’t wear only Western dresses and accessories. If I wear a Western dress, then I must wear a pair of shoes and bag made from ankara, because I am proud of my culture.

Advice for women
They should look as natural as possible because God has created them well. Also, they should respect their skin.  When they keep their skin natural, they will not age easily. Also, when dressing, learn to hide your flaws.  If you have spot on your legs, keep wearing trousers or long dresses to prevent seeing the spots.
