| This should serve as an inspiration..that you can do anything once you put your mind to it. She was not a genius and did not demonstrate (according to the article) a high IQ. It was that DECISION not to be a failure or even mediocre that changed the game for her. We can all emerge from the ashes and do exceptional stuff if we simple decide to 'go for it'. Also notice how she took an embarrassing incident and used it as leverage? Most people would use that as an excuse to completely embrace failure or just do crazy stupid shit. | | |

| I really do not blame the bouncer. If there is a guest list in operation, unless you are one of the event organisers, it is imperative that you present the required pass. Why risk the embarrassment of possible refusal? Even though I am not a celebrity, I respect myself to much to try to pull any bull like that. As a known figure, you should be even more weary, cos it really makes you look bad. | | |

| It takes an exceptional person to truly be humble with that kind of exposure. Most people will be arrogant, but the only thing is that a lot of people would not make it obvious or reveal their true nature openly so as not to draw hatred from the people. It is VERY hard to find a fairly established celebrity that is not a pompous dick. | | |

| Why not? If you do not have the expertise required in solving a complex problem, I would imagine that it's in order to seek advice and support. Even very highly skilled doctors get a consult from a colleague every now and then when presented with baffling cases. There are always those intricate political implications, but in life you often have to choose the least noxious options. Would you rather see these dirty little lunatics running loose unchecked? Do you not see how ridiculous it is that such entities continue to have free rein to cause pain, suffering and havoc? Furthermore, it makes sense to add another dimension to the intelligence strata of our security forces- that will serve us now and in the future. | | |

| Selling your organs via the black market sounds like a mighty great risk to me. Considering the fact that it is not particularly legal or regulated means that there are extremely low levels of accountability. Now, what stops the 'buyers' from harvesting ALL of the intending seller's organs and throwing away the corpse?! His actions were unwise - that's a given. But it should be understood that not everyone has a sound or strong mind, and that human beings have a great inclination to be irrational. We just manifest in different ways. | | |

| DK, i beg to disagree with you that we are not trained, i challenge you to show mw where a military persnonell shoot and kill someboby not to talk of ppolicemen. We are very well trained in weapon handling and also the spirit of espirit d corp is well instilled in mil men.My pain is the innoccent lives that has been cut short and families put into ain yhat is needless What are you saying?? I was there when the same 'respectable' military men, of whom you so loftily speak, raided the Ojuelegba police barracks a few years ago! What of the MANY cases of soldiers manhandling powerless civilians? Tell me - who else would have opened fire on the policemen?? Stop being silly, please. You soldiers act like you are above the law and superior to civilians (most of you). Have you ever seen a soldier (esp army officer) resolve a matter in a decent and civil manner?? It must always be gra gra. I would like to see how such a person channels his agression in an advanced country. Buh u didnt state wat apened b4 they raided. Buh i stand to be corrected no soldier will eva shoot a policeman coz of any type of arguments. Be dat as it may i'll like to get into constructive dizcusion with u. I consider myself 2 big to start xchanging badmouthed words with u Concerning your post, the one to which I responded not so mildly, I didn't know you were merely having a banter with the others; I thought you were genuinely threatening them. That made me incandescent to the point of leaving such a harsh response (Once again I must apologise for that). I'm not the kind to get into arguments or into a pissing contest with anyone, but I detest oppression. But if we are to have a civil discussion about the matter at hand, I would suggest that you represent yourself: speak for yourself alone and not all soldiers. I do not know you, so you might be as disciplined and responsible as you claim - but that does not apply to every one of your colleagues. For instance, I am a bodyguard, and I have done that for the past 5 years (in Hubei, China). I'm very good at what I do, which is why my client has refused to let me go. But that being said, I cannot vouch for other bodyguards, just because it's my profession. I understand the concept of espirit de corps you earlier mentioned, but that does not change the character that INDIVIDUAL people have. A lot of people are bad and uncultured, and joining the army does not make them better. I reacted to the first post (the one refuting claims that soldiers did this and that) because I know what soldiers can be like. Like I said earlier, you may be a stand up guy, but you cannot claim the same applies to your mates or your group as a whole. Appologies accepted. I aunderstand datdia's always a judas in every system. Naija policemen are always harrassing soldiers though u will not know and i tell you somany of us hsa condemned the killings coz it could av ben anybody at dat scene.. All our famiy members are not forcemen,so we cannot be killing ppl like u said. All it will take is for our policemen to understand the spirit of espirit d' corp and almost all d problem will be a thing of d past. Am not saying if i commit offence i shld not be arrested buh am saying i cannot be treated like a commoner. How is china My brother I cannot complain. I have been to a couple of countries and found that, at the end of the day, it's what you live for that matters. However, I won't like to live in Afghanistan or Yemen! China is a really large country (which I am sure you know) and life is what you make it. I am a bit challenged by the language, but the people I work with understand English (at least a bit) and I get on well. | | |

Na where civilians dey una dey get mouth. Even common recruit go dey threaten everybody. I pity you. If you talk any how on this forum, I will tear you apart..and show you how little you know, how little you're worth and how powerless you are. How many warfronts have you been to? Tell me. How many life-threatening situations have you been in? Take your time. Don't make me make you my personal business. | There is lawlessness everywhere you care to look - from university cultism to area boys; from corrupt and inept police force that are constantly brutalising the civilians to power-drunk Army. The fault is in the thing itself, i.e., the government that cannot build credible and versatile institutions free from corruption when the government itself is an epitome of corruption and what a government should not be.
I feel u bruv. It's a systemic thing. Just as it is that the same blood flows throughout the body, supplying all living tissue with oxygen, nutrients and pertinent chemicals. If the blood is tainted, you can expect that all elements within that 'body' will be affected. Clearly, it's the minds of the people that are tainted, and if there is no serious reorientation, it'll be pretty unlikely to see things change for the better. There are always the few people that choose to do the right thing and are of a decorous disposition, but the majority defines the set, doesn't it?! Me still thinks that it's useful for each enlightened person (and by this I do not refer to education or formal training; just the state of being reasonable and sensible) to play their part and remain 'sane' regardless of the odds. | | | |
