1  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / NDDC— 297 To Be Completed In A-ibom on: 8-05-2017 03:18 AM
UYO—Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC’s Director of Commerce and Industrial Development, CID, Mr Anietie Usen said that the commission was currently embarking on the construction of 297 roads in Akwa Ibom State.

Mr Usen made this known in the weekend, while speaking as a guest on a radio programme, monitored in Uyo.

He chided politicians in the state who see the NDDC as an extension of All Progressives Congress, APC.

“The agency is operating with the same mandate as all other federal agencies in the country and not an often negative or pejorative connotations of any political party.”

Mr Usen said that, “Though the commission was under tremendous pressure under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, regime especially as it was supervised directly by the presidency, a new platform is now in operation with the ongoing reforms which now places the NDDC under the supervision of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.”

2  Forum / Politics / Court stops Reps from probing ex-SFG Anyi on: 8-05-2017 02:51 AM
High Court of the Federal Capital Territory sitting at Maitama, has stopped the House of Representatives from ordering the arrest of the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, over alleged fraud in the Centenary City Project that was endorsed by former-President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

The court, in an ex-parte order that was signed by Justice U.A. Musale on May 4, specifically restrained the House of Reps by itself or through any of the security agencies, from acting on the report of its Committee on FCT which was adopted on March 16, pending the hearing and determination of a motion on notice  Anyim filed before it.

The former SGF had in a suit marked CV/1303/17, which he filed through his lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, told the court that the Respondents are planning to use the said report “as a basis of directing security agencies to arrest, detain and to file criminal charges against the person of the Applicant”.

Aside seeking the nullification of the report, Anyim prayed the court to bar the Respondents from directing anybody, or any security agency to act on the report, by arresting, detaining, maligning or victimizing him, pending the determination of his suit.

According to him, “Unless the Respondents are restrained as a matter of grave urgency pending the determination of the motion on notice, they shall continue to act on the report, malign and victimize the person of the Applicant notwithstanding the present action which seeks to set aside and nullify the said report”.

Cited as 1st and 2nd Respondents in the suit are the House of Representatives and Chairman, House Committee on FCT, Hon. Herman Hembe.

3  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Kanye deletes his Twetter, Instagram account on: 6-05-2017 08:23 AM
It looks like Kanye West took the “delete your account” seriously.

On Friday, the “Ultra Light Beam” hip hop artist social media accounts suddenly got missing. That means you can’t pull up his legendary tweets anymore, like when he asked Mark Zuckerberg for $1 billion or when he battled on Twitter with Taylor Swift.

Yeezy didn’t join Instagram until last September, instead choosing to vent his frustrations across Twitter. Twitter is where the hip-hop artist announced he would run for president in 2024 instead of 2020, which he so famously expressed in a rant at the 2015 Video Music Awards.

It’s unclear why he’s deleted his Twitter and Instagram, this isn’t the first time Kanye West has deleted his social media. He deleted his account in 2012, almost all of his tweets, leaving one behind: He wrote ” WILL BE BACK SOON” on October 4.

In 2013 he deleted his tweeter account before the release Yeezus album.

The rapper first joined Twitter in 2010, after much protest against fake accounts stealing his name. In a 2009 rant posted on his blog, he wrote, “(This spaz comes courtesy of losers making fake Kanye Twitter accounts) I DON’T HAVE A phyukING TWITTER… WHY WOULD I USE TWITTER?”

Being a loser, of course I tried to take the @kanyewest handle. It didn’t work on Twitter or Instagram.

His wife, Kim Kardashian, not new to social media, still has her Twitter account active.

5  Forum / Family / How to prepare Crispy Suya Wings on: 5-05-2017 06:41 AM
Superbowl Sunday is here and it’s officially wings season. Now do I know anything about American football? NOPE. Do I care about American football? NOPE. Can I name one person who plays American football? Well I think so…something Brady.. buahhahah. I don’t know his team sha but he is a fine piece of human specimen but I digress. Superbowl Sunday for me is just another opportunity to each chicken wings, shikena.

I have several wings recipes on the blog from this Nigerian style recipe, to Jollof wings  etc. This one right here is in a league of its on. Imagine the crispiness of deep fried wings without all that oil, like who doesn’t want that?

To achieve the level of crispiness, we will be using baking powder. Yes BAKING POWDER. This Is a trick I picked up from many nights of watching food shows and it has never failed me. To cown it off, we will toss the crispy wings in a sweet and spicy suya sauce! I know you are already licking your fingers.

Ingredients

    20 split chicken wings
    Salt – to taste
1 tspn Black or Cameron pepper
    2 maggi cubes
    2 tbspn baking powder

Sauce

    1 heaped tbspn suya spice
3 tbspn honey (substitute maple syrup)
2 tbspn mayonnaise (substitute greek yogurt)
    2 tbspn lemon juice

Direction.

Combine all wings ingredients. Set aside

Preheat oven to 275F. Line a baking pan with parchment or use a baking wrack. Oil generously.
Arrange chicken pieces on wrack. Bake for 3omins. Increase heat to 425F and continue to bake until chicken is crispy (30-45 more mins)

Remove chicken from oven and set aside.
Combine all sauce ingredients in a medium pot. Place on medium heat and boil until it thickens.  Toss in warm wings and coat generously

Serve your delicious wings with a side of something cold like this tangy and sweet Chapman

8  Forum / Sports / Spanish court: neymar will face fraud trial on: 5-05-2017 06:09 AM
Neymar, his parents, the Barcelona president and his predecessor will all stand trial on allegations of fraud, the Spanish National High Court has stated.

Former Santos president Odilio Rodrigues and the two clubs in question join the Brazil forward, his mother and father, Josep Bartomeu and Sandro Rosell as defendants in a trial over Neymar’s transfer from Santos to Barcelona in 2013, according to a court statement.

The case stems from a complaint made by Brazilian company DIS, which owned 40 per cent of the rights to Neymar when he was at Santos. It argues that it lost out on its rightful cut from the transfer because the true transfer value of the deal was false.
Prosecutors said in November that Neymar should be fined €10m (£8.5m) and handed a two-year jail sentence.

For first-time offenders in non-violent crimes in Spain, sentences of two years or less are suspended, so it is unlikely the player would serve any prison time.

At the time, Barcelona claimed the transfer fee was €57.1m (£48.5m), of which €40m (£34m) was to be paid to Neymar’s family.

DIS received a 40 per cent share of the remaining €17.1m (£14.5m) that was paid to Santos, but the court value the rights transferred by DIS to Barcelona at €25.2m (£21.4m) and said DIS’s cut should have been based on that amount.
The Spanish High Court statement read: “The judge has set bonds of €3,429,768 (£2.9m) as pecuniary liability for Rosell, Bartomeu, Rodrigues, Football Club Barcelona and Santos Football Club, which must be paid by all together.”

Barcelona did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment. No one picked up the phone at Santos or at Neymar’s Brazil-based company, NN Consultaria, when Reuters called seeking statement.

The transfer has given rise to several investigations in Spain and Brazil. Last June, Barcelona agreed to pay a fine of €5.5m (£4.7m) to the Spanish authorities to settle a related tax fraud case.
