Nigerian pastor, Kingsley Okonkwo, has dubbed Feminism a movement influenced by Satan without any scriptural backing.
Okonkwo started off the conversation by saying the way boys are raised is very different from girls as the boys need more direction, he went on to say male and female are not the same, claiming this is backed by scripture, science and statistics.
According to him, the feminism movement is backed by sentiments. Okonkwo described the movement as one influenced by Satan.
His words ;
“Boys need a lot of direction. The way you raise boys is not how you raise girls because they are not the same. Male and female are not the same. We have people who argue that they are the same. I always tell people that there are 3 things that inform my teaching, scripturally tested, scientifically and statistically back. I don’t teach from sentiments. Many people try to build their scripture from sentiments so they start fighting back that oh feminism and all that. That men and women are the same. We are never the same. We have different roles.

Scripture tells us that, science tells us that, the statistics also tell us that. But unfortunately, Satan is using offended and broken people to start those movements.
People that, maybe they’ve grown up in homes where the fathers were abusive then they start saying ‘oh we don’t need any head in the home, men and women should be equal.’ It’s coming from a place of hurt, from a place of abuse.

Maybe their dad was absent so they start saying ‘no woman should commit to any man. They are reacting based on something that has happened which we understand that what happened was bad but they should not try to change the roles and the gender because that is very important.

Nigerian medical experts have expressed disappointment in the federal government's plan to import a herbal tonic from Madagascar - The health workers who kicked against the plan described the government's move as disgraceful - The president of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) has, however, listed four reasons why Nigeria should avoid the herbal remedy
Following the federal government's plan to import COVID-Organics (CVO), a herbal tonic from Madagascar for the treatment of coronavirus, Nigerian medical experts have kicked against it, The Guardian reports.

Pharmacists under the aegis of Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) and other medical workers in the country excluding medical doctors under the umbrella of the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) have expressed their opinions on why Nigeria should not import the herbal tonic.

gathered that PSN in reaction to the federal government's plan on Tuesday, May 12, rejected the importation of the herbal tonic and described it as “thoroughly disgraceful.”

Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, the president of PSN, said medical experts in the country are shocked that the government is about to spend scarce foreign exchange to import herbal concoction called COVID Organics (CVO).

He said:
“While in principle we would not mind Nigerian government importing any new drug that is proven to cure COVID-19 or indeed any other disease for which we have neither the capacity, nor the technology to produce locally, we are totally appalled that Nigeria is about to spend scarce foreign exchange to ‘import coal into Newcastle’. Even if we are not going to pay for this, it is thoroughly disgraceful that a country that should be the leader of Africa, with the largest Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will allow itself to be dragged this low.”

The PSN president listed the following reasons why Nigeria should not import the herbal tonic: Nigeria has about 174 universities; 20 faculties of pharmacy and about 69 federal government-funded research institutes, including National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD), Abuja and the National Institute for Medical Research

(NIMR), Yaba, Lagos while Madagascar has only six universities, one faculty of pharmacy and nine research centres. Nigeria has some of the best scientists (pharmaceutical, medical, biochemical, biological, among others) in the world who have done so much work on natural and herbal medicines. Nigeria has developed a pharmacopeia of natural and herbal

products and has one of the richest flora and fauna–potent sources of phytomedicines. Since the outbreak of the COVID-19, a number of them have raised their voices that they have herbal and natural products that can be used to treat or manage COVID-19. Some have patents. Many herbal companies and producers have announced specifically that they have herbal formulations that can do what this ‘invention’ from Madagascar does.

Ohuabunwa went on to note that pharmacists recommended that a portion of the funds donated for the pandemic should be dedicated to local research and development, however, the government has remained silent

7  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Nigerians Now Pick Facemask From Refuse Dump - PTF Chairman, Mr Boss Mustapha Raises Alarm on: 13-05-2020 10:33 AM

The Chairman of the task force and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha, raised the alarm at the PTF press briefing.

According to  Report, the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 has raised the alarm over an unhealthy practice of some Nigerians who pick face masks from rubbish dumps and sell them.

The  Chairman of the task force and  Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha, who raised the alarm at the PTF press briefing in Abuja, warned that such a practice would worsen the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

He also said northern state governments, which had been evacuating the Quranic school pupils, popularly known as Almajirai, to their states of origin should suspend it.

The Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, also at the press briefing, said pathologists from Sokoto, Bauchi, Jigawa, Katsina and Kano had been trained, adding that they were investigating deaths in the states.

The task force, shortly after the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), in his national broadcast on April 27 ordered gradual reopening of the economy, gave guidelines that would assist in flattening the COVID-19 curve in the country.

Among the guidelines are the compulsory use of face masks and maintaining social distance in public places. The government also banned a gathering of over 20 people and interstate movements.

Reviewing Nigerians’ adherence to the guidelines, Mustapha noted that people were still sharing face masks.

He said,
“The unhealthy practice of picking disposed masks for whatever purpose is harmful to both the individual picking them and whoever procures them later.

“The PTF has become aware of the ongoing practice of sharing masks and picking of masks for recycling from dump sites. This places a lot of responsibility on all of us to be self-educated and to educate others.

“The following points are emphasised: Except for fabric masks, every disposable used mask is a hazardous medical waste and should be disposed of properly, preferably by burning.

“It is very risky to share masks as the virus is capable of remaining on surfaces for several hours and you could get infected.”

9  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Nigerian Born Again Reveals That GOD Is Angry With People Using Perfumes And Deodorants on: 6-05-2020 04:27 PM

A Nigerian Born-again Christian has sparked off a social media debate with her opinion on people using perfumes and deodorants.

According to the Mugechi Monika, people get tormented by demons when they use perfumes and there is a spirit of pride in people who use perfumes and deodorants because there are demons behind some of the items used in production.

She Wrote:

Grace, peace and mercy unto you all my brethren who are reading this post. I once said that I will share a revelation, that God gave to me concerning the use of perfumes and deodorants. I delayed in sharing the dream as I was waiting for the Lord to give me a confirmation in His word.

In my dream, I was sleeping and a demon came upon my shoulder and started irritating me. I tried to rebuke it in the name of Jesus Christ but it would not leave. I tried to quote scripture but it would not stop irritating me and it even started irritating my armpit. The Lord gave me understanding that the demon was tormenting me because of the deodorant I use. Then in my mind I made up my mind to stop using deodorants and then my dream ended. Let’s examine the scriptures;

And it shall come to pass that in stead of sweet smell there shall be a stink and instead of a girdle a rent and instead of well set hair baldness and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth and burning instead of beauty.(Isaiah 3;24)

Here we see that, the Lord is angry with the sweet smell coming from perfumes that the women of Jerusalem are using. I have heard of testimonies from former members of the occult who were married to mermaids. Each one of them testifies that on summoning the mermaids their presence would be detected by the smell of perfume. There’s a spirit of pride in people who use perfumes and deodorants and even some types of lotions as some of these things after manufacturing are dedicated to demons. From my personal experience when I used to use deodorants,I had a sensation of pride.

In Exodus 30;22-31 God tells Moses to make a sacred annointing oil and the pure sweet-smelling incense mixed like perfume. After the the instruction God warned Moses never to make any other like it and that it should not be poured upon any man’s flesh because it is Holy and it’s only consecrated to the Lord.

Upon man’s flesh shall it not be poured neither shall ye make any other like it,after the composition of it,it is Holy and it shall be holy unto you.(Exodus 30;32)

In Proverbs 7;17 talks about the prostitute and how she uses perfume to seduce men. And that’s the purpose of perfumes, deodrants and some lotions for a seductive spirit is attached to them.

As Christians we should be clean and neat but we are warned to abstain from things that defile us,things sacrifficed to idols. If you doubt this truth,go boldly before the throne and ask God to reveal it to you.
10  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / NDLEA Officer, Edward Manger Who Came Back from Kano Tests Positive Of Coronavirus In Benue on: 6-05-2020 01:50 PM

An official of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Edward Manger, who recently returned from Kano has been confirmed the second case of the novel coronavirus disease in Benue State, Punch Metro reports.

The second case is coming about six weeks after the index case was confirmed by the NCDC and announced by the governor.

The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, announced the new case at a news conference at the Government House, Makurdi, on Tuesday.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control had announced that Benue State recorded another case of coronavirus on Monday.

Ortom, while speaking to journalists, disclosed that the victim returned from Kano   towards the end of April 2020 and was immediately traced by the state action committee on COVID-19 and his sample taken to the NCDC in Abuja for testing.

He said when the result returned positive, the official had been taken to the state isolation centre at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi.

He said the committee  had contacted his family members and embarked on contact tracing of all those who might have had contact with him upon his arrival.

Ortom explained that the essence of disclosing the name of the victim was not to ridicule him but for the interest of all those who might have had  close contact with him to be able to come out and have themselves checked for the dreaded disease early.

He added,
“It is unfortunate that I stand before you this morning to announce to you and Benue people that another case of COVID-19 has come to the state. His name is Edward Manger. He is an indigene of Benue but worked with the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency,  Kano State Command.

“Manger came to Makurdi towards April ending and was immediately traced, quarantined and his sample taken to Abuja for test but when the result came out, he tested positive.”
11  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Meet 36 Year Old Bricklayer, Idris Saula Who Spent 6 Years In Jail For Crime He Never Committed on: 6-05-2020 01:11 PM

Bricklayer, Idris Saula, will never be the same again after six years of his life were stolen by the country’s criminal justice system.

Saula was held in the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos State for six years despite legal advice from the state’s Directorate of Public Prosecutions that he should be released five years earlier.

gathered that the 36-year-old had in 2014 gone to work at a construction site in the Sangotedo, Ajah area of the state.

He was, however, arrested during a raid by policemen from the Ajiwe Police Station.

After a few days in custody, he was transferred to the Ikeja office of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, where he spent five months.

The victim was subsequently taken to a magistrates’ court and arraigned for armed robbery and was remanded in prison.

It was gathered that the DPP released the legal advice absolving Saula of all charges.

However, the police prosecutor did not take the advice to court, as the bricklayer languished in prison.

We learnt that after the arraignment of the Lagos State indigene in 2014, he did not step into court again until his miraculous release on April 30, 2020.

“When they opened the prison gate and told me to go, I could not understand what was happening to me. I felt giddy as fresh air blew on me. I have still not recovered,” he told our correspondent as he sat on a pinning bed, while his mother and siblings battled to save his life at home.

Saula, our correspondent learnt, was his parents’ only son, with four female siblings

It was gathered that their father died when they were young and their mother, a fried fish seller, had been catering for them.

The victim, while recounting his ordeal, said his inability to pay N50,000 to the policemen at the Ajiwe Police Station for bail was behind his predicament.

He stated,
“I was called for a bricklayer’s job at Sangotedo. We were working when we heard a noise of some thugs fighting. Shortly afterwards, the police came and raided the area. I was among the seven construction workers they arrested.

“When we got to the police station, they demanded N50,000 for our bail. Others paid and they were released. My phone had been taken and I did not know the number of any family member off hand.

“After spending three days in the station, I was taken to the SARS office in Ikeja. I spent five months and two weeks there. They did not even bother to find out the whereabouts of my family or anybody.”

“One day, they just brought me out of the cell and took me to the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, where I was arraigned alone for armed robbery. From the court, I was taken to the Kirikiri Medium Prison. For days, I was depressed, because I was suffering for what I knew nothing about.”

Saula said in 2017, some inmates in the medium security prison were moved to the maximum security prison, because the medium facility was congested.

He explained that luck, however, smiled on him when an elderly man, who lived in Ikorodu, was brought to the prison for a minor offence.

The new inmate, after listening to his story, promised to connect Saula to a rights lawyer.

“He called Baba Femi Falana, who sent a lawyer to interview me. I was surprised on Thursday, April 30, 2020, when my name was called and I was told to go home,”
he stated.

Asked if he was aware of the legal advice on his matter, Saula said nobody told him about it.

He explained that complaints to the prison officials that he had never been taken to court for trial were rebuffed.

“I always went to the prison’s record office to know when my case file would be called. They kept telling me to be patient that it was not my turn yet. When I became persistent, they chased me away with a cane. I just resigned to fate and kept praying and asking God to bring me out,”
he added.

His mother, Olayemi Monsuru, said Saula collapsed at the bus stop and was conveyed home in a tricycle.

She explained that he was given “blood tonic and malt” to recover.

Monsuru recalled that when the 36-year-old did not return home from work in 2014, she raised a search party to look for him.

The 69-year-old mother said nothing was heard until eight months later when some freed inmates said they sighted him in Kirikiri.

She narrated,
“From that time, we kept visiting him in prison and later got a lawyer, whom we paid over N200,000. The man lived in the same community with us and we attended the same church.

“But after some time, he stopped taking our calls and we were informed that he was dead. Since that time, we had been helpless.

“We found a young lawyer, Folake, who asked us to pay N10,000 for her to visit him in prison. We paid the money.

“After the visit, she demanded N150,000 to continue to help. I am a widow and I sell fried fish by the roadside. We were still making efforts to raise the money when God intervened.”

Monsuru appealed for help for Saula, saying the family was heavily in debt.

Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, while thanking the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Lagos State, Mr Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN), vowed to sue the Nigeria Police Force for Saula’s ordeal.

He said,
“We wrote a letter to the attorney-general to inform him about Saula’s unlawful detention. In the course of investigation, the DPP discovered that the legal advice written on the matter over five years ago was to the effect that he should be released from custody, because there was no evidence that he was part of any armed robbery or other criminal gangs whatsoever.

“The legal advice was sent to the police, but it was not forwarded to the magistrates’ court. Hence, a dysfunctional criminal legal system kept an innocent man in jail for six years.

“The legal advice was forwarded to the court and the magistrate ordered the production and release of the defendant. A court order was obtained and served on the Kirikiri Correctional Centre and he was released.

“We are going to sue the Nigeria Police Force. Of course, we are going to join the prosecutor, whose negligence kept the man in unlawful detention for years. More importantly, we are going to challenge the dysfunctional criminal justice system that sentences indigent people to prolonged detention without trial.”
12  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Stranded Motorists Amid Curfew, Sleep On Their Vehicles Along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on: 6-05-2020 12:55 PM

Due To The Lockdown hundreds of motorists passed the night at the Kara/Berger end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Monday/ Tuesday, as they were stranded following the
enforcement of the curfew imposed on Lagos and Ogun states as well as the Federal Capital Territory by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) to limit the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

While some of the motorists lamented spending hours for journeys that should have lasted minutes, others decried passing the night in their vehicles after being stuck in the gridlock that followed the closure of the Berger boundary between Lagos and Ogun states.

PUNCH Metro observed that security agents manned both the inward and outward lanes of the road at Berger.

Police personnel from Lagos and Ogun state commands, officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps, Vehicle Inspection Officers and men of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps were seen at the checkpoint.

Our correspondent observed that the uncompromising security personnel prevented vehicles, including those conveying foodstuffs and tankers coming into Lagos to load fuel as well as those on essential duty from coming into the state, while those exiting Lagos had a similar experience.

A motorist, Adedimeji Okanlawon, said the policemen at the checkpoint inward Lagos denied him passage despite informing them that he was an essential worker, adding that he had to pass the night in his vehicle.

Okanlawon stated,
“I left the office in Arepo around midnight and the road was free until I got to the Sparklight Estate area on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. I initially thought that the gridlock was because the policemen were checking for essential workers, but I became worried when there was no movement for hours.

“I disembarked from my car and trekked from OPIC to the Berger checkpoint, where I saw a policeman, who said the road would not be opened until 6am.

“I showed him my ID card, but he ignored me; so, I trekked back to where I parked and passed the night in my car. But a lot of people conveying food items, charcoal and other materials, as well as tankers were among those stuck in the gridlock. I saw a lot of motorists sleeping on the road as there was no movement. I left the place at exactly 6.45am.”

Another motorist, Daramola Adebutu, said many people left their places of work late despite being aware of the curfew, adding that the roadblock at Berger spilled over to the Third Mainland Bridge, Alausa and Agidingbi areas of Lagos.

In the Sango area of Ogun State, motorists plying the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway also faced a similar situation as security agents at the toll gate area prevented them from gaining entry into the state.

A motorist, who identified himself simply as Idris, said he and other motorists were left with no option but to drive on the kerb because the policemen had barricaded the regular route.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, said,
“On Monday, we had issues all over; the roads were shut because of the curfew; and when we shut down non-essential movement, essential workers were trapped in the gridlock. But eventually, we paved a way for them to pass.

“Today (Tuesday), we went around with the Commissioner of Police to assess the situation and the checkpoint at Berger was shifted to a wider area to accommodate more vehicular movement.

“Both the Lagos and Ogun CPs, the Deputy Commissioners for Operations in the states, the DC Operations from the Zone 2 and Area Commanders in both states were present when the decision was made to ease the situation.”

“They were shouting: ‘Who is the GM’? When they got to the van, they shot the driver in the stomach and whisked Iwuoha away in their vehicle.

“The gunmen also made away with the valuables of the GM and other staff members, including their laptops.”

The driver, Onyeokuche, was said to have been rushed to an undisclosed hospital, where doctors battled all night to save his life due to massive loss of blood.

16  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / We Are Not In Support Of Infectious Diseases Control Bill - CAN on: 6-05-2020 10:27 AM

The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has expressed concern on the Infectious Disease Control bill before the House of Representatives.

It maintained that it should not be passed into law in national interest.

CAN’s opinion was contained in a letter dated 4th May, 2020 by its General Secretary, Joseph Daramola, to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.

CAN urged the House of Representatives to discontinue discussion on the Bill forthwith in the overall interest of the Nigerian citizens.

“However, should you insist that there is merit in this unacceptable bill, we insist that this bill should pass through public hearing,” it said.

CAN told the legislators that courts on numerous occasions struck out Acts of Parliaments and legislations, including Executive Orders of Governments, which violates any of the Fundamental Human Rights provided for in the Constitution.

The organisation also queried the intention behind the bill, and advised the leadership and members of the House of Representatives to immediately allow the spirit of God to prevail over the primordial intentions and ambition.

It asked the lawmakers not to pass what it called the “controversial, nebulous and obnoxious bill into law in the overall interest of Nigerians.”

17  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / American University Of Nigeria Owned By Atiku Abubakar Sacks Over 400 Staff on: 5-05-2020 03:08 PM

American University of Nigeria owned by former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, on Monday sacked over 400 staff.

This comes three days after another of Atiku's companies, Gotel Communication, a media outfit, sacked 46 staff on Workers Day.

President of AUN, Dawn Dekle, signed the sack letters seen by SaharaReporters, stating that the university no longer required the services of the affected staff.

Some of the disengaged workers told SaharaReporters that they were fired without severance benefits despite serving the university for about 10 years.

However, Vice President, University Relations of the institution, Abubakar Abba Tahir, denied the allegation.

He said,
"Ask them to show you their disengagement letters.

"Until now, AUN has operated a student-staff ratio which balance had continued to affect the sustainability of the university

"It would not be realistic for AUN to continue to anchor its administrative structure on an over-bloated personnel whose role do not have significant effect on the philosophy of a development university.

"Thus, consequent upon the university’s new Governing Council vote to restructure the institution in line with its agenda for sustainability, a process of workforce rationalisation had been in the pipeline.

"It is now time for the university to look back, look around and look ahead to ensure that realistic and globally competitive administrative practices can be achieved in structure, strategy and focus."
