His announcement of FALL being certified GOLD by RIAA is coming few days after same song went Gold in Canada. RIAA” is a music sales award cum certification in America, and its acronym stands for Recording Industry Association of America.
For any musical work of art to be certified Godl by RIAA in America, such piece of art must have surpassed 500,000 unit sales based on physical distribution (and not just online streams). According to RIAA, a Gold certified song or album represents a whopping $1 million sales, and now that’s a big fortune in Nigerian currency, do the calculation.
The hit song “FALL” has been certified platinum in South Africa, Gold in Canada and now Gold again in the U.S.
This is indeed a double win for the music executive for the year 2020.

The Akwa Ibom State Phase 11 Ex-Militants Forum of the Niger Delta Presidential Amnesty Programme has claimed that recent calls by some Niger Delta groups and some individuals for the removal of the Honourable Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio has ethnic colorations. They added that such calls were simply because Akpabio is an indigene of Akwa Ibom State and not necessarily that he has committed any offense.
In a statement issued by the leader of the ex-militants Comrade Imoh Stephen Okoko and made available to newsmen in Uyo on Thursday, the group noted that it was not the first time, some faceless individuals within the region would be asking for Senator Akpabio’s removal.
According to them, “After a careful analysis of the various reasons advanced by the protesting individuals and groups, we wish to state that these calls are all laden with ethnic sentiments and therefore leave much to be desired.
“And those making the call are parochial minded and selfish individuals whose interest is above the general well-being of the region, a major reason why the Niger Delta has remained very backward and largely underdeveloped despite the large chunk of funds sunk into it We, therefore, wish to say that the call for Akpabio’s removal is simply because he is an Akwa Ibom State indigene and not necessarily that he has committed any offense.
“On our part, we totally reject the call for the Minister’s removal, but rather commend the President for making the best choice for the Ministry of the Niger Delta.”
They regretted that most appointees from Akwa Ibom State Origin have allegedly been treated badly and opposed when appointed to sensitive positions at the federal level and on issues relating to the development of the region. Buttressing their claims, the group recalled that on the creation of the Niger Delta Ministry, the appointment of the erstwhile Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) under Chief Obasanjo’s government, Obong Ufot Ekaette, of blessed memory, as pioneer Minister of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, was greeted with protests from the Ijaws and other ethnic groups in the region based on flimsy and unsubstantiated reasons, just because he was from Akwa Ibom State.
They said his successor at the Ministry, Mr. Godday Orubebe, who was Obong Ekaette’s Minister of State at the time, was however hailed despite his ‘seeming poor performance because he is an Ijaw man.’
They further said the pioneer NDDC’s Executive Director, Projects, late Engr. Udo Mboso was protested against, likewise Mr. Nsima Ekere, the immediate-past NDDC Managing Director.
We, therefore, wish to warn all those behind the call for the head of Senator Akpabio for a crime he did not commit to desist forthwith from such act as any further attack on the Minister shall be met with stiff resistance and could resort to unpleasant consequences.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has identified three key lessons that Nigeria and its people should learn from the raging coronavirus pandemic in the country and globally.

He also asked Nigeria and other African countries not to continue blaming the past for the current economic woes in the continent.
Obasanjo made the observations on Wednesday at a virtual book launch organised by Afrobarometer, a non-governmental organisation based in Ghana on behalf of The Brenthurst Foundation of South Africa.
Obasanjo was a discussant at the event alongside former Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Hailemariam Desalegn and that of Thailand, Abhisit Vejjajiva.
The 313 pages book which was launched is titled: “The Asian Aspiration: Why and How Africa should emulate Asia,” and was published by The Brenthurst Foundation.
According to Obasanjo, there are three major lessons he believes Nigeria should learn from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The first one, he said, is to attach great importance to the issue of food security in the country and take it more seriously in the country’s economic policies and implementations.
“It is now this time of coronavirus pandemic that the country knows how important it is to be self-sufficient in food production and especially in most of the essential ones,” he stressed.
The second lesson is for the country to take the issue of information and communications technology more seriously
According to him, Zoom and other virtual platforms have given people during this current pandemic and lockdown across borders opportunity to meet for economic activities and this will be the way to go after the pandemic. “But there is a problem again on this,” he noted, “and that is when considering the huge number of out-of-school children in a country like Nigeria. We have to do something about this.”
Speaking further, Obasanjo said the third lesson for Nigeria and other African countries to learn is to encourage and utilise the Africa Free Trade Agreement among countries by doing bi-lateral and multi-lateral trading within the continent.
Obasanjo, who also spoke on the importance of integrity and competency of people in control of resources at government and private levels, said COVID-19 pandemic despite its destructive nature to humans and resources has become an eye-opener to areas of priorities for African countries including Nigeria to focus after the crisis.
On blame games by successive governments in Nigeria and other African countries about the past, Obasanjo said that though the past could not be totally ignored so as not to make the same mistake of the past, Africa should not be shackled by the past rather forging ahead for meaningful development.
He said African problems are self-inflicted due to bad leadership and poor institutions, as well as what he described as pervasive corruption, especially in governance rather than continued blaming colonial masters.
“So, we should not allow ourselves to be held bound by our past,” he said.
On their separate contributions, former Ethiopia and Thailand leaders, Hailemariam Desalegn and Abhisit Vejjajiva, said even though African countries have much to learn from Asian countries that within a generation not only overtook African countries but also left them far behind in the level of economic prosperity, the development of Africa countries is in the hands of Africans and not from outside. According to them, there is a need for economic diversification and constitution of strong leadership and institutions to take many out of poverty in no time on the continent.

US President, Donald Trump, known for his preference of Twitter to disseminate information, has threatened to regulate or shut down social media platforms after accusing them of political bias towards conservative voices.
Trump's threat comes a day after Twitter Inc. for the first time added a warning to some of his tweets that prompted readers to fact check the president’s claims. read here
Trump, then on Wednesday insinuated that Republicans felt social media companies were trying to silence conservative voices.

Moses Simon has signed a new deal to remain at Nantes after a successful loan stint (Twitter/Nantes) Nigerian forward Moses Simon has signed a four-year-contract with French club Nantes after impressing on loan from Spanish outfit Levante.

Last week’s episode left the viewers wondering what would become of Mercy and Ike’s relationship upon Mercy’s return from London.

We see Mercy and her siblings, Promise and Chigozie having a conversation at Mercy’s house and showing the viewers how strong their family bond is. Mercy couldn’t contain her excitement to be finally reunited with Ike and to reassure him everything will turn out fine. As Ike made his way to Mercy’s house, he let the viewers know that he couldn’t pick up Mercy from the airport due to the situation concerning the video and photograph of her with Willy XO.
When Ike arrived, Mercy wanted to know if he had problems with her visiting her friends because he didn’t seem to have issues in the past. Ike mentioned that if he knew she was going to put on a show, he wouldn’t have allowed her to go and he felt she did it on purpose. Mercy went on to defend her actions by saying Willy XO is a genuine friend. While the duo continued to have a heated conversation, Mercy brought to the attention of the viewers that the people who are determined to put a wedge in their relationship are only hurting Ike not her and they need to see that he’s pained. Mercy also mentioned she doesn’t want to be in a family that doesn’t appreciate her, she expressed how mad she was that everyone is adamant that she travelled to London with an agenda and she doesn’t want to reach the point where she’s with Ike because she pities him.
Ike expressed that he really wants to be with Mercy and needed to know if they were on the same page. Mercy also expressed how much she loves Ike, but he always seems to choose money over her. Ike went on to let the viewers know that if Mercy wants to end things with him, she needs to pay him off. Mercy voiced that she feels Ike would leave her once another rich lady comes along and that he might be with her for his own selfish reasons.
Mercy and her besties, Tracy, Mimi and Tara hung out at Landmark beach to discuss personal issues. But before they did, Mercy helped in putting an end to a quarrel between two of her friends because she holds friendship in high regard. Mercy went on to ask the girls what they thought about Ike, and they had a lot to say. Her friends felt Ike is manipulative, he doesn’t fight for Mercy as he should, he doesn’t reciprocate love, he puts Mercy through emotional stress and Tracy even went as far as jokingly saying “What is Ike?”. Mercy lets the viewers know that her friends always want the best for her, and they’ve been through a lot on social media with people showering them with insult and how Ike hasn’t done anything to address that online. Although Ike’s faults were pointed out by her friends, Mercy still defended him by making them aware of how nice he is and the love she has for him.
