Former Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, Anna Banner has recounted how she struggled for years and almost opted for suicide at some point.
The mother of one made this known via her Instagram Stories on February 1, 2021.

According to her, for six years, she had to deal with keeping appearances during her birthdays.
The former beauty queen revealed that at some point, she was depressed and became suicidal. She also disclosed that she lost her self confidence, was ashamed of her body.
Banner said she was ashamed of some of the decisions she made as an unmarried young lady. The beauty queen said on her birthday this year she’ll remind herself of all the achievements.

Born in 1995, Banner rose to prominence after she was crowned the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria in 2012.
She was appointed Special Assistant on Culture and Tourism to the then Governor of Bayelsa state, Henry Dickson upon her reign as Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria in 2012.

She has a daughter with music star, Flavour.

Nigerian Afro-Pop singer, Yemi Alade, has opened up on how she ignored popular American singer, Beyonce‘s email for two months.
The sensational singer disclosed this in an exclusive interview with OSG, during which she talked about how she nearly lost out on her collaboration with Beyonce.

Recall the singer was unveiled as a collaborator on Beyonce’s “Black Is King” visual album, a sequel to the 2019 “Lion King: The Gift” album.

Speaking with OSG, Yemi legit said she ghosted “Queen Bey” for two months but however said it wasn’t intentional.
She said, “we thought it was a scam email… I wasn’t the one receiving the emails, my management was and the thing is that, you have to be a crazy beyond fan like me to know her company’s name is “Parkwood”, So you’re getting emails from “Parkwood” about a collaboration with Beyoncé?!… My manager was telling me that he keeps getting these messages from Parkwood. He sounded very irritated and he was thinking of maybe blocking the email… and I asked him what did you say? Did you say “Parkwood?” I said (screams) that is Beyoncé!!!!…”

Speaking on how long it took for them to actually respond to the email, Yemi Alade said “it took a while.. we were at the end of the collection like..they’ve been working on this for a while, maybe a month or two, I think even someone at some point came to Nigeria and they were trying to meet me but you know how some people are, they don’t want some people to meet some people.”

Immediately after learning of her manager’s error, the ‘Johnny’ crooner immediately boarded a plane to Las Vegas, and made her way to Beyoncé’s studios.

“I had no idea what was coming. When we were done with the meeting, I went back to my apartment. I just woke up the next morning I couldn’t talk, definitely could not sing. I had no voice, I pushed and I got something out of it,” the 31-year-old continued.

When asked about her disposition towards people in the western world and the kind of vibe they give. She replied thus:

“When I try to just envision every country that I’ve been to, I realize that human beings are just human beings, some come with good vibes, some come with bad vibes and then you can never know who really has ulterior motives or not, they just keep…. like an onion peel… they just keep opening up and showing you and showing you and revealing everything… so I would just say human beings are the same everywhere, naija, outside naija everybody.”

Olusegun Obasanjo, a former President of Nigeria, has revealed he knew the late President Musa Yar’Adua was ill before he supported him to emerge the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2007.

He however said he got medical advice that Yar’Adua, who had a kidney transplant, was fit to act as President.

Yar’Adua, who later won the 2007 presidential election, died in office in May 2010.

Obasanjo, who spoke on Sunday in a virtual interview with academic and historian, Toyin Falola, denied allegation he deliberately put up weak candidates for selfish interests.

He said: “Let me tell you the story of Umaru Yar’adua. I knew he was ill and before I put him forward, I asked for his medical report which he sent to me and I sent it to one of the best doctors of our time and a good friend of mine who died only last year –Professor Akinkugbe.

“I said look at it because it is confidential and he said to me that from this report, this man has had a kidney transplant and it is successful, he is no longer under dialysis.

“And if you have a kidney transplant and it is successful, it is as good as if you didn’t have a kidney transplant at all. I accepted that and Umaru Yar’adua contested within the party and he contested within the country and came up.

“In the process of the campaign, I remember that he had to go for a medical checkup abroad and he was not around for a campaign here in Abeokuta.

“I called him because the rumour was that he had died. I called him on my telephone and put it on speaker. I said, ‘Umaru, are you dead or alive?’ and he said, ‘I am not dead, I am alive’.

“Within a couple of days, he came back and reported that he was checked up and he was well. That was the position of Umaru Yar’adua and if anybody in his right sense will think that what I have done in that position was not right, I leave him in the hands of God.”

Popular gospel singer, Mercy Chinwo has reacted after Davido publicly confessed that her songs lift his soul whenever he listens to them.

Davido had taken to his official Twitter page on Sunday where he hailed the gospel artiste by stating that she is an amazing singer. The FEM crooner also mentioned that he has been listening to  her songs.

Lagos state’s single-day count of COVID-19 infections has exceeded 1,000 — with 1,040 cases reported on Saturday.

This is the highest daily count recorded by the state where the first COVID-19 case in the country was confirmed on Feb 27, 2020.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), in its update for January 30, reported 1883 new positive cases of COVID-19 across 22 states and the federal capital territory (FCT).

Trailing Lagos is the FCT with 298 cases, Anambra 86, and Rivers 54.
Other states that confirmed new infections include: Taraba (45), Ogun (42), Oyo (40), Akwa Ibom (38), Sokoto (30), Ebonyi (30), Imo (28), Kaduna (28), Osun (27), Kano (21), Benue (19), Edo (17), Gombe (15), Ekiti (9), Delta (, Jigawa (3), Kwara (2), Bayelsa (2) and Plateau (1).

According to the NCDC, a total of 932 recoveries were recorded on Saturday with 461 discharged patients in Lagos state.

Also, one new death was recorded on Saturday, bringing the country’s fatality toll to 1,578.

A breakdown showed that Lagos has the highest number of positive cases with 8,576 patients –one-third of 25,267 active cases in the country.

Out of 130,557 confirmed cases in Nigeria, a total of 103,712 patients have been discharged.

The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) says it has reasons to believe that the Federal Government wants the group’s leader, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky to die in detention.

The Chairman, Resource Forum of IMN, Prof Abdullahi Danladi, stated this while condemning the continued detention of El-Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenat.

Recall that the couple has been in detention since 2015 after his followers clashed with soldiers in Zaria, Kaduna.

The IMN leader is standing trial for alleged culpable homicide, unlawful assembly, and disruption of public peace.

Danladi said that there were fears that El-Zakzaky could die in detention because of his medical condition and the physical and psychological trauma that he has been subjected to.

The professor confirmed that the sheikh has been suffering from sleep disorder, recurrent spiking hypertension and other ailments, while bullet particles remain lodged in his body since the 2015 encounter with the military.

“Certainly, there is that underlying fear. That is the fact. But concerning his age – 67, going to 70 – he is old enough.

“Look at the psychological torture he is subjected to. Six of his male children were killed. Three of them (were killed) in his presence and he was dragged over their dead bodies with their brains on his face, and then he is having bullet particles in his eyes and suffering from high blood pressure.

“With these underlying issues, it is just God’s miracle that he has survived (thus far). Just imagine somebody losing three children at a time and another three killed sometime after, and his wife shot. Many people came to defend him and over 1,000 of them were killed.

“So, much as it is true that we fear for his life, we pray that he will survive this torture. He will survive this imprisonment. He will survive this condition and the future of Nigeria is bright by God’s grace,” he told Sunday Punch.

Danladi added that IMN has not committed any crime to warrant the alleged persecution its members have faced in the hands of the Nigerian authorities.

“We will not continue in this degraded society where human life has no value. Every day, blood is being spilled. All over, people are being killed.

“Our resources are being taken away by a very few individuals for selfish and personal use. Nigeria has no business being poor, if only our resources can be properly utilised. That is the crime he (El-Zakzaky) has committed, telling them that they should stop stealing our money but use it for the development of society. They are not happy with that and are, thus, attempting to kill him.

Veteran Nollywood actress, Joke Silva has advised her fans to desist from telling lies.
